Today I was visiting a cousin in a nursing home.. she can't see ,so needed help with eating her lunch ...every time , I take with me Twila's book "" Perennial "" to read a portion after the meal ,then pray ... today's story was on page 74 , entitled ," Ten Mile Hike" ... then we read the song " Where He Leads Me" ..a most beautiful hymn... we then went to UTube , and listened to a live performance of Twila Singing that very song... what a Blessing God has made❤️🌼🌸🌼🌎🎶🌼🌸🌼🌸❤️🎶

I first heard this playing in a Christian bookstore and told the clerk I had to have it. I bought My Utmost For His Highest on cassette and took it with me along with a tape player while adopting my daughter in China. Little did I know how meaningful this song would become in my life. I played this entire cassette over and over for my little baby girl while in China for two weeks and upon returning home to the states. My daughter had to have heart surgery to repair two congenital heart conditions found in premature babies. The surgeons at St. Louis Children's Hospital had never seen these two conditions in one heart...they researched and found another case in a French medical journal. My Gracie came out of heart surgery on ECMO, which is a heart and lung machine. For over three weeks , I stayed in PICU with her, playing this cassette over and over. Twila's song became Gracie's song. The doctors had to disconnect the ECMO because some of her organs were failing. The night before disconnecting her, the nurses extended her tubes so I could hold her and they lessened her pain medications so she was awake. I played this song for her, singing along and told her to "follow Jesus where He leads" . It was a very beautiful moment mixed with such sorrow and joy. The next morning when the doctors disconnected her from life support, Gracie was already gone. They brought her to me to say goodbye and her body felt so different from the night before. Her soul had already gone to be with Jesus. I was simply holding her "earthly tent". I was only able to be her earthly mama for three months before she went to be with Jesus. Every time I hear this song, I think of Gracie as she sees, hears and touches the Jesus I groan to know here on earth. I have since been lead to live in Gracie's country and now Taiwan. This song brings new personal meaning and I want to be as brave as my Gracie to follow Him wherever He leads me. Thank you for this precious song!

This is a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing this and so sorry for your loss. Have you heard of Twila’s song “Visitor from Heaven”? It’s about her friend who went through similar situation as you.

@@GodNControl Thank you for your kind reply! I will search and listen to Twila's other song. Music is such a deep balm for the soul from our Lord. I am grateful for the gifts of songwriting and singing He has given Twila. It is a powerful ministry!❤❤

Agreed. Twila's countenance is missing in the great majority of the church music today. Her music honors the Lord since it comes from deep in the heart.

I know the subject matter and the significance, but I have to say, I hear so much high fantasy here. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis could use this as theme music! Love, love, love this song!
