just got an offer from Bristol for English and Spanish so thanks for this video! I've also applied for Queen's :)) Also, Fearless in the background... subscribed!! x
For my English degree we had a lot of grammar, writing, literature, and history of the English language. It was a lot. We had a major senior project at the end of our senior year that we start working on at the start of our senior year. Its so interesting to see how other programs are different
It’s definitely a degree where you have to balance so many different things! I actually would have liked some classes on some intricate grammar techniques/ critical techniques and technical terms! I think we are just expected to learn and find out ourselves🤷🏼♀️ We had an option to do that (a 10k dissertation) but juggling a lot of different modules is the other option basically😂
Love your new intro😍 (and your jacket). This video is so interesting! On the one hand I wish I’d studied English Lit but hearing about the work load I’m kind of glad that I didn’t😅
Aww thank you so much!! 🥰 hehe I actually love that fluffy jacket sm it is so cosy I wear it all the time😂 Ahahah i get you!! It’s more about the amount of work rather than how hard it is I guess and then some degrees like are more difficult if that makes sense idk😂😂
Aw makes me miss uni so much 😍😭 love to hear your experience, I've only ever driven through Bristol, never seen the city or uni campus properly. Sounds great and the course sounds amazing too
I’m going to miss it so much when I graduate 😭 You should visit Bristol at some point then! I’m sure you’d love it (once the restrictions have eased😂) Thank you so much for watching!! 💜💜
I graduated from Cardiff in English Lit so was really interesting hearing what Bristol is like for the same subject! (I also almost went to Queens!) Great video 💕
This video was great! I'm low key very jealous that you're enjoying your undergrad experience, you definitely sound so passionate about what you're studying
youre so right on them not helping you with essays at first, i wish theyd give you a little more guidance at the start. this was really interesting! i think if i studied english id end up hating books
I definitely agree! I wish we were given more help with that, ahahah I get what you mean but tbh it can just make it more exciting when you find one you love from the reading lists!!
thank you so much for making this video. i'm planning on firming bristol for English (joint English and German if they accept my course change) and i've been so lost on finding perspectives about the course. this video was really helpful in getting a feel for how bristol teaches English, and i'm really excited to see your other videos.
I’m sooo glad to hear this helped!🥰 I hope everything goes well with your course change, and I’m so glad you are planning on choosing bristol! More videos in this series will be up ASAP💜 I hope to help before the new first years come!
I'm studying something equivalent for English Lit, with Teaching, Linguistics and Translations too here in Brazil and I loved knowing what's like in other countries and universities!
This was so interesting!! I know we’re in completely different schools (and countries wow) but my English courses have been similar thus far, though I’m still an undergrad. I’ve been contemplating double-majoring with English and Marketing/Business but after hearing about how intense it gets I don’t know if that’s a good idea😂 I loved this video and I’m looking forward to more about this subject!
I’m sure an English Lit degree is incredibly similar all over the world!! I think the differences are really just what books are picked🤷🏼♀️😂 I would love to do marketing as I find digital marketing so interesting and intriguing but I get what you mean about the work load! 😭 But i always say just go for something If youre passionate and get an opportunity, just work harder I guess😂 I’m so glad you enjoyed! Thank you so much for watching🥰
This was so helpful! I can’t decide what to firm between uni of Bristol vs Manchester vs Sheffield for English:( so annoying that we can’t visit at the min.. as an English student are you allowed to use the law library (it looks gorgeous lol but don’t know if it’s just for law people) X
Yes you're allowed to use the law library! You're allowed to use pretty much all of them! I'd choose Bristol if I were you ;) It's such a friendly city!
I always think back and wonder if I was like 16/17 again whether I would've looked at English courses instead of business or music tech haha - I probably would have done different a levels for sure x
Yeah it's weird thinking back but I don't think I would choose any differently tbh!! I wouldn't be smart enough to do a music a level though hahahah the GCSE killed me x
Hey I love that you did this video, thank you! I’m planning on applying to Bristol but I think there isn’t an English Literature undergraduate degree but there’s English BA and English Literature and Community Engagement. Which one do you study and also, what is the difference between English BA and English Literature?
Yes we did! Only a few but I think there were meant to be more if we hadn’t gone into lockdown so in my final year any exams were done online! Hopefully that helps ☺️

I’m so glad you enjoyed!! Thank you so much for watching🥰🥰
This was so interesting to watch. Really took me back to my time at university. I studied English Language at the University of Leeds! :)
I always wonder what an English language degree would be like!! I’m so glad you enjoyed, thank you so much for watching 💜🥰
What was university of Leeds like? Would you recommend it? It’s the other option I’m considering and I don’t know whether to choose Bristol or Leeds
@@notwithoutpizza4702 Yes, I would recommend Leeds. I'd say pick the university that feels most like 'you'. Hope that makes sense!
This is so so helpful as I have an offer to study English at Bristol this year!! Currently trying to decide where I want to firm so thank you sm!!
Aww I'm so glad this helped!! I hope you choose Bristol because it is just fantastic!! Good luck with all your offers etc
@@RebeccaBooks thank you💕
