So blessed that you're still uploading videos
I agreeeeeeee ❤
I LOVE how you made the character like literally GLOW. You're a color theory master, amazing work.
Seriously, I have skillshare and now I'm gonna take some color theory classes 😂
Genius to use the acrylic paint as like a more opaque watercolor.
Love the idea 💡
Honestly you amaze me on levels that I cannot comprehend how good you are. Your artworks should show up when someone search's what eye candy is
That’s so flattering thank you 🥲
The clouds were a great addition! They mimic the hair and really pull the piece together, along with adding nice depth. Beautifully done Chris!
i would give anything to have your characters made into little figurines. Also i love the way you explain your process!
I would also love that very much haha one day hopefully! :D
That's actually a really great idea! A figurine of this character would be so much fun! 🌙🌈🌷
the dedication to even make like 6 same looking sketches with tiny differences to later see what you want to do- I as artist could never have. it have the pic in my mind and I will draw one time, that's it. even two times would be too much for one piece and I would simply trash it xD so this is even also stunning like the art itself here!
Shes so cute she seems somehow real =) aww
She’s so adorable 🥹
i absolutely adooooore this! the colors are fabulous, the composition is giving bao pham a little bit which we love anddd the same music from the rain, boy videooooo.....yes yes yess!!this is everything that i needed today. thank you dear Chris Hong
oh I didn't even realize that was the piece where I used the same music once before haha thank you for reminding me! :D
Great job. I liked seeing your color studies and sketches for this project. I always do timelapse stuff on my channel, but I like how you incorporate more real time footage in your videos.
I have never mixed color pencil and acrylics before I can’t wait to try this method
I was a loyalist for watercolor but after I got into university, I realized that I prefer a graphic finish than the full rendered one but I didn't know why. I just couldn't get the result I want with watercolor, like it lacks of something. I thought it was just a skill issue because I was still a beginner. Oh now I know why I prefer mixed media than watercolor alone.... I like the crispy color with some blended parts, I like the little lines here and there for texture, I like the clear little white highlights. I just never liked the full rendered-kinda-realism piece 😂 glad to discover this by watching your video tho🥳💖
i'm happy to hear! i feel like I'm still constantly discovering and honing in on my preferred way to work, depending on what my desired outcome is! I find watercolour limiting in terms of extracting all I can with colour (due to my own limitations in skill) but depending on the style i'm going for I still love using watercolours :)
@@ChrisHongArt yasss!! I still love watercolor but now I prefer to have some "accompany" srt supplies to enhance my art. We artists, will always learning and honing our knife, and that's the beautiful side of making arts🥰💖
I love the way the hair looks like cotton candy (I think in Canada we called it candy floss when I was young?). Eye candy, so sweet.
This is my new comfort channel ❤
I love this one so much, the pinks and blues are some of my favorite shades :)
And you also opened my eyes a bit as to why I'm never happy with my watercolour pieces: I create mud too! I work in so many layers that different colors start to iverlap to the point where it just turns brown. Maybe I should try using acrylics, or at least a more opaque medium too :O
Happy to hear I’ve provided any bit of insight w this video! ❤
Your lines are so fine and beautiful, and your color palettes look like the drawing is coming off the screen, so perfect!!❤❤❤
Wow I really like this one! I love the colour and lighting. Imagine now go back to use gouache for this painting 😂
haha oh man I've been itching to pick up gouache again! I can never pick just one medium X'D
2:02 a messy palette is a well used one!😀
such lovely light on that! and the colours are gorgeous 🥰
Love 💕 the color scheme 🧋💕🪷🫧🍬🍡!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE all your circuses and sad clown girls paintings!! 🎪💙💙

Holy frick dude, I love the tears turning into stars 😢
Hii!! I just wanted to say I love your art so much. It's so expressive and also cute (because little clowns GOD I LOVE LITTLE CLOWNS) and you're my favorite artist :3
I hope you never stop posting
This is a beautiful piece. I swear your art is amazing. I love this, I hope you make it a print.
This color scheme is utterly fantastic, and as one who does NOT love clowns, the execution of this piece was captivating.
So beautiful!!
Obviously the original is already sold - It is too stunning to not be 😭❤
I ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ your painting. Very well done. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Gorgeous piece Chris, I’m in love with the fluffy cotton candy hair. Happy to see you trying out drawing directly on the paper, retaining so much of the sketches dynamic life. Also the paper in your Stay-Wet could be used as a canvas for another piece, it’s literally made up of your color palette 😁
Its rare that a piece speaks to me so much that i just. Buy it. But i did, and i found your process and just the concept and color story for this ppiece so inspiring i want it right by my desk. Amazing work

Aw thank you 🥰🥳
So beautiful Chris!! ⭐️✨
Amazing!
Simply extraordinary. Thank you for taking us through your mental process of creating this piece. It’s fascinating and beautiful. Is this original piece for sale?
Your work is always so beautiful. ❤❤❤ I love how you use acrylics in thin layers here. What do you use to thin it down? I have a little background in watercolor and have always wanted to use acrylics more like this but I'm not sure what products to use. I was told by some other artists to not thin acrylics down too much with water. Any advice would be welcome. Thank you for such a beautiful video of your process.
I love the way these acrylics look!! The colours are so beautiful
This is so helpful
Beautiful
I would recommend you try Acrylic Gouache
Whimsical 😍
Grahhh I love how you use color
u r so skilled, how dare you
lol, love the comparison of the clouds to challah
What a stunning piece! I love it. It also makes me a bit sad. 🩷
Very nice ❤
So here's my honest opinion in many ways this piece works , however I feel it's more cartoon style and less realistic to ideals such as shadow and light , my suggestion is to remember your light source ( the moon) and remember that white , yellow, pink , orange and red for light areas and green, turquoise blues, and purples are dark or shadows the colour selection should help to make the piece less flat and really pop I was confused why some areas facing the moon would reflect this colour theory and others would not; I appreciate the fact you chose a watercolour paper , the thin washes of colour , opacity ,and renderings however again I think this piece could have been that much better with colours reflecting the shadows and hi lights in a more cohesive way 👩🎨 keep at it! You got the right idea and I enjoyed watching and hearing your thoughts while creating this piece!
I feel like anything out for public view is open for discussion and debate the reason I mentioned what I did was because she had said there was a point where she wasn't sure what to do next and wanted to render the image to make it look more realistic and not flat my comments share how to achieve this. I am not trying to hurt anyone's feelings I only said.what I said because I too bad to remember where the lighting is coming.from or things of that nature when I was an art.student , I was also a art peer tutor helping others and wanted to share my knowledge perhaps it could help future art - if it's not liked creator of post can delete my comment(s) I won't take offense
Amazingly talented ! Got your book when it was a kickstarter, beautiful. Oly the music is very ennoying🙈
oh both look beautiful. :O
Whats the difference between working with acrylic like watercolors vs working with acryla gouache or just plain gouache ?
I tried acrylics a few years back but i nearly ripped ly hair out because of how fast it dried
I haven't tried acryla gouache yet but I imagine it's fairly similar to using acrylics in this way! But using gouache is very different since gouache reactivates, so I'm not able to glaze and tint colours/values as I go! (which I find conducive to how I like to work - in lots of layers!)
Love the painting and how you color all your pieces! How's watered down acrylic compared to gouache?
good question - it's super watered down initially so that it's translucent like watercolours, but since it's acrylics I can do a lot of glazing early on this way as opposed to using gouache (since gouache reactivates)
Do you just use water to thin the acrylics or do you use a thinning medium? The texture is so pretty and vibrant!! 🤩
I just use water! :)
I cant live without my splatter stars. Was waiting for somebody to call me out on it and tell me to stop
Awesome! I love your work so much. What size was this piece?
This was 9x12 inches :) thank you
