- Coca Cola commercial from 1979 depicting an athlete (Mike Lookinland) preparing to head off to the 1980 Summer Olympics. This commercial aired in September of 1979, six months before President Carter boycotted the 1980 Olympics.
Also, is it credible that Mike Lookinland (aka "Bobby Brady") could be an olympic athlete? I mean, mom always said that he wasn't allowed to play ball in the house...
I remember and miss these great old Coke commercials. And it's Bobby Brady too!
I was wondering if that was Bobby Brady.
I'm old. I remember when TV ads were 58 seconds long.
I remember and miss these great old Coke commercials.
Coke ad voiced by Peter Thomas, probably best known now for "Forensic Files."
This commercial shows that simplicity is and will always be the key of happiness, no matter of special effects, photoshop corrections, dolce&gabbana glamour and all of the shit we are aiming to nowadays. The more ads wanna show how good their products are the more stupid and boring they get. In the past, I used to watch ads but nowadays I always avoid them
After the train left the station, Bobby Brady went on to win the Olympic Gold in football throwing at Marshas' nose! 😂😅
I went to elementary school with him. Very normal kid with no ego..
I was born 1978. This classic commercial with this beautiful song was released in 1979, when I was 1. I love this classic commercial and the classic beautiful song! It is terrific! Thank you for posting and sharing this classic commercial!
Of course he is just an actor but it's good to see "Bobby Brady" in this ad. Interesting too!
I KNEW that was Bobby Brady even before I read the description!! :D
Heaven knows they don't make commercials like this anymore.
They should.
Bobby Brady. I remember this commercial.
I really liked the description of this video by the uploader. I especially liked his or her comment about playing ball in the house! In my opinion, this person has a great sense of humor!
Unfortunately we boycotted the summer games that year.😔
They boycotted the Olympics 1980.
unless he was going to the winter games in Lake Placid I dont think he is going anywhere
@Eastonfan1 its 1979 families still sat and ate dinner together at the table
Alas, the US boycotted the 1980 Olympics in Moscow and Bobby Brady was not able to fulfill his dream!
I can't believe that Bobby Brady did a Coca-Cola commercial!
And they never went to the olympics the following year....
Your dad is a very cool person. I may have watched too much television, but I still think your dad is a very cool person. Bobby was my favorite Brady.
That young man used to be on The Brady Bunch.
Perhaps Bobby Brady could be an Olympic athlete if they added billiards or race car driving to the games.
Your right! He was from the Brady bunch
Jack-Coke please, thank you.
This is Bobby Brady from the Brady Bunch
I didn’t know Bobby Brady was in the Olympics.
When l looked at him l thought it was Mike Lookinland. Then the other UA-camRS confirmed it.
@GhostsonAcid Thanks for the update Joe. And when you find me in the school pictures...be kind..i was goofy looking...lol. Thank you for getting the word to your dad. Very nice of you. Thank you for the correct spelling of Terese's name (My bad). Your dad use to live near or on a very cool street all us skateborders loved because it was so steep. I took some serious tumbles on it many times. I want to say the street was "Myler" or something like that, but my memory is a little cloudy on it.
@msinthrop thanks bro, he's my dad. I'll tell him you said that. :)
...he was so cute!
BOBBY BRADY CUTIE WOW ❤
yeah, right after he wins that speedboat race.
Didn't the USA boycot the Olympics that year?
Yes the summer games in Moscow.
Mike Lookinland aka Bobby Brady.
Bobby Brady all grown up after The Brady Bunch
That was Bobby?
YESTHAT'S MIKE LOOKINLAND AKA BOBBY BRADY
Bobby Brady is a fictional character. He is only human-don't expect anyone to be perfect. I love Bobby. He and Peter were my favorite Bradys.
And in the next year's Olympics, the US Hockey team BEAT the Russians to take the gold in the upset event of the year. There were other glorious moments, but none quite like that. The movie, "Miracle" with Kurt Russell and Patricia Clarke, gives so much insight into how the coach led them to that point. The Russians had taken the gold every Olympic season since like 1960. Their team was absolutely fierce, domineering, and skated onto the ice knowing they were going to win. We had the takeover of our embassy in Iran. Gas lines and shortages. People were unhappy with so much. The US Hockey Team restored some of our pride. Great movie to watch.
@GhostsonAcid If he needs more info, My name is Brian Lucey. The school was Taper Elementary in San Pedro, California. He even invited me to his birthday party way back when. All i remember is i had to wear a suit which i hated and i had a big crush on his sister, i believe her name was Teresa? He was always very cool and never any 'Star" attitude. Please give him my best.
Oh, what might have been!
He placed bronze in the pull up competition.
He finally got a 🏆. Lol!
here here!
coke is it!
That girl in the video has a strong resemblance to Sissy Speck's daughter, Schuyler Fisk.
Can't compare to Tyrese's ad
" Next year , Thousands of athletes all over the world will be leaving their homes to follow that great dream -- the Olympic Dream-- " " And , we here at Coke just want to say --" Tough break kid !! "
i dont remember this but impressive
i remember the slogan
Wow, first he's on Little House on the Prairie meeting Mary Ingalls on the train then he dumps her and gets a new girlfriend on this train!
.... and then, US boycotted
I don't think it was a bad choice. I thought he was good for the commercial. In fact, most child actors end up broke, which is really sad. They work hard and yet don't get the money they deserve.
And then they boycotted that Olympics...
where is the volume?
Did he live in a store on main street?
@lttguys I understand where you're coming from, but that's a myth. The only caffeinated drinks it says to avoid is hot drinks(like Coffee or Tea), Things like Coca Cola are ok(even though there are some people who are totally against that)
Has this actor ever done something to hurt you personally? I can only assume that he has, otherwise you posting this comment doesn't make any sense.
@msinthrop He says hi and we're going to go pull out the old class photos from Taper Avenue to see if we can find you! Also, her name's Terese. :) but close! -Joe :)
BOBBY!!
Who is that narrator? He did a lot of stuf on the 1970s. Was he the nerdy guy from The Electric Company?
Lookinland was a mormon. Not only should he not enjoy cola, but he had a terrible drinking problem.
@getabox Playing ball in the house?
The Russians invaded Afghanistan so Bobby will have to flush his life long dream and watch it on TV.
He'll never get a trophy.
The girlfriend looks like Schuyler Fisk to me.
...Yes, but much prettier like Sissy.
empire
WHo is "Bopbby"'s girlfriend..
Bobby Brady never would have won anything at the Olympics. Everyone knew he never won shit.
He just gotta get a trophy he just gotta. But he did get to kiss melissa sue Anderson.
Now that I think about it Bobby beat mr Howell in billiards.
Come on with Coke, and Come to Tokyo 2020!
Have a toke and a smile.
DISRUTA COCA COLA NOT ENJOY COCA COLA
Wow, commercials back then were sooo corny! LMAO
Damn that Jimmy Carter! LOL
look at this video and the town you can tell that they have shunn the last decade becuase the music and life style of a normal 70´s influnenced city is the devil
You're confusing him with Robert Reed, who played his father, who WAS gay and so deep in the closet he may as well have been a coat hanger..
So, they never SAY "American", yet bothered to reflect an American flag in the windows of a departing....TRAIN?!? In America?!? The United STATES of America. Not even mentioning that it's clearly not an Amtrak train, and with those open side windows, not a train operating in North America. Pretty shady and clever how Coke covered all their bases with just the one commercial, for a 1980 Olympics in Moscow that the USA boycotted anyway.
