Had that happen to me mate. Good to see you that you stayed with the tracking and finished him. Not a great feeling but it happens. Thanks for sharing it as its a great message to send through to new hunters. Find and finish what you have started and treat the animal with respect. Well done Rhys.
Well done for not giving up I lost a stag once in heavy Bush shot through the lungs found bone & lung were I hit him on the run in-between a gap in the trees I new he would come through. Searched & searched went back the next day with my mate but never found him .be lying in the crown fern some were gutting. Those Mercator's are great little knives but I prefer my green River for boning out. Thanks for sharing
Yeah always a shit feeling to lose one mate! I've lost them before, one was the exact same circumstances as this... mine is actually a cheap knock off of the mercator, good knife though, not the best for doing it all but small and light so suits me 👍
bloody gd on ya for tracking him for so long and finding him.we all have done it
Cheers mate! Yeah it's never a good feeling aye
Happens to every serious hunter at some point or another bro, good work tracking him
Yeah all part of it unfortunately aye, last time I didn't find it so was a relief to catch up with this one!
Bloodhound Rhys. Good on ya mate!
Cheers mate! Be easier if I just learnt to shoot properly though

golden rule 'allways leave your knife in your day pack.
Yeah I better leave one in there full time from now on 👍
Good to see someone else who uses pillow cases the amount of people UC put hot meat straight into plastic bags
Yeah mate great bit of kit aye 👍
Hunt long enough and you’ll lose one, good job following up,plenty would have given up.
Have lost one before in similar circumstances so I was pretty determined not to let it happen again! Cheers
