HOW TO MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

Back again for another melt, today I try out my new stamps that I got and they are absolutely awesome and make any bar look great👍🏻. I'm still moving house and shed so hopefully I can be a step closer next Friday but there's just so much to do to move everything across but priority one is to continue with my Friday videos😁. Now as I always say have an awesome weekend stay safe and I will see you all on next week's video 👋🏻

I know you have a flow I understand but you could've just made some videos ahead of time and posted them every Friday till the move is finished and just did some mini personal melts for yourself every Friday to remove some of the stress yes?
So less stress and nothing changes off-or on screen to much either

You know what would be a great tool for you? One of those smaller shredders, that just turns any can, copper pipe/wire and aluminum in to small granular bits, that would fill up the crucible nicely and makes for fun to watch content, seeing stuff get shredded :)

I've always liked the idea of having elemental cubes with their chemical symbol and atomic weight on them, for some reason. I guess ingots with their ids stamped onto them is the next best thing. The metallic elements are probably the easier to make, but even they take some effort to achieve.

If you rub a little bit of candle wax on the wood around the piston it will slide a bit smoother. I might steal this design that thing is awesome!

The heat coming off the crucible reminded me that it should be starting to warm up there in Australia, BSD. Summer is slipping away here in the States. Fall and winter soon. At least we have the Friday melts.

I can't afford it myself; but with all of your subscribers and patreons; I'm sure somebody can help you to get a surfacer to make it easier to get a clean flat surface and bevels so that you can have perfect ingots. The chips will be larger as well so it'll be easier to clean up than sweeping up dust. It'll give you less grinding, less using of the belt sander, etc all of which just produce a lot of waste and contaminated dust. I'd send it to you myself but I went out of business a little while ago due to a work injury that has forever changed my life so now I watch these videos in my spare time as a man's version of ASMR cuz I like to hear the forge and power tools. Never mind the business logo, I couldn't give it up after having to shut down I'm no longer in operation and now permanently disabled. Otherwise I would send you the surfacer myself. A press for your stamps might be neat to have too. Even a simple DIY one made from a pneumatic bottle jack would work. But either way keep it up, love the videos

The processing of the material is a lot of work. The cans for instance having a power crusher is a good idea in large volumes, but for 25 i suspect you could step on them in the time it takes to hook it up to the truck. For the copper pipe it may not be a bad idea to use a rolling press to flatten it, then just fold or roll it. You could probably make a rolling press out out scrap yard and hardware store parts like two steel cater wheels, a threaded rod tensioner, and a bicycle chain and sproket set from an old ten speed.
