  • Opened up the output side of my XJ8 throttle body. I have only seen videos about how to adjust a rebuilt unit but none on how to take it apart.
    Always follow good safety practices when working on cars. I am not an expert so do consult one if you wish to take on repair projects like this.

    Great video. I have a 2003 jaguar xj8 I've been wrenching on for a few years. It seems to need attention from time to time but always starts up and runs great. Smooth engine and transmission 🧈🧈🧈.

    I have a 2005 XJ8 and just had the transmission rebuilt, when the computer reset, I had to replace the oil temp sensor, and now lean bank 2. I will clean the airflow sensor and replace the air filter, the code P0174 can be many many things even vacuum

      You might also check that your cats are tight. Prior to making this video I found mine were loose from before I owned the car, and that connection to the manifold has to be undone to remove the transmission. An air leak there can cause a lean code.

    What were the symptoms. I’m thinking my throttle body is bad but I’m going to replace the gasket first. Recently changed coil packs and put a new battery and it’s running smoother. Still slipping when I push on gas but not running as bad as before. I love my 4.0

      mine the throttle plate was very sluggish, but my rough run (and codes) ended up being the mass air sensor. though after cleaning and lubing up the gears in the throttle body it was nicer to drive. one more thing, the mass air sensor I put in was not a factory one, but one for a mid 2000s subaru with the same interchange number and a fraction the price ($25 total I think). Years later still working fine.

    Thanks for your video. I have 98 XJ8 with a condition called a high speed stall - anytime and every time the jag gets over 50 mph if you touch the brakes the car immediately stalls but if you are going over 50 and coast until you are under 45 then you can break and everything is normal. I think I have heard this is sort of common and the solution was a new throttle body - but that is very expensive - do you have any thoughts ?

      I have not come across that with mine, but it sounds like you have a bad ground or something. Your car is a revision behind mine and I know they changed a few things. one other thought, inspect your wire harness for damage. I worked on an old chevy that would stall out, turned out the harness would move and short out on a housing.

      I would just try to clean it

    If you put the camera on the other side of the car it would be easier to see what you are doing.

    Don't you need to adjust the position after installation?

      I put it back close to the original position, then it just had to self learn for a bit after resetting the power.

    How do I install the throttle position sensor correctly

      @SRMWorkshop  2 роки тому

      I just put it in roughly the same position. Then there is a re-learn procedure you can do (you will have to look that up, I don't remember it off hand.)

      @@SRMWorkshop if you a link to that procedure may I please have it? But I'm going to look for it from now on
