  • Hey guys welcome back to NGB 2.0 and in this video I want to show you how you can merge two images in GIMP. Now it's actually super easy to merge two images in GIMP. So without further delay let's get started and see how you can do this. Now to demonstrate this I've already imported two different images in the GIMP editor. So this is my first image of a woman and this is my second image of a mountain and we are going to merge these two images into one.
Now first of all what you need to do is you need to copy your second image and paste it on top of your first image. So to do that go to your second image and now go to 'Edit' and then select 'Copy'. Now go back to your first image go to 'Edit' once again go to 'Paste as' and then select 'New Layer'. Next what you need to do is you need to drag your second image below the first image in the layer stack.
So to do that select your second image and then click on this option that is 'Lower this layer one step in the layer stack'. Next select your first image and now right click on it and now select this option that is 'Add Layer Mask'. Now the moment you click on 'Add Layer Mask' you will see this 'Add Layer Mask' dialog open up right here and inside 'Initialize Layer Mask to' you need to select the 'White' option and now click on the 'Add' button.
Next what you need to do is you need to make sure that inside 'Foreground Color' the color black is selected and inside 'Background Color' the color white is selected. Once that is set select the 'Gradient Tool' from the toolbox and look inside the 'Gradient' settings which is present right here. Inside 'Gradient' you need to select this particular option that is 'FG to BG(RGB)' and inside 'Shape' you need to select this particular option that is 'Linear'.
Next what you need to do is you need to draw out a straight line from the left side of the image towards the right side of the image like this and once you're satisfied with the outcome simply press enter on the keyboard. Finally what you need to do is you need to merge these two layers into one and so to do that you need to simply click on this option that is 'Merge this layer with the first visible layer below it' and that's it we are done.
This is how you can merge two images in GIMP. Do let me know your thoughts in the comment section below, like the video and subscribe to my UA-cam channel. I will again see you in the next video. Till then thanks for watching.
