I still really like Bound! I rarely hear people talk all that much about it, seems like an increasingly forgotten gem... such a cool movie

I was at this event, and I can just say they were absolutely spectacular to listen to hear in person, it doesn't quite come through on this. Lana in particular is absolutely brilliant. I was the guy with the final question about writing, and as I walked back to my seat, she maintained eye contact with me as she answered, it was equal parts intimidating and beautiful, absolutely incredibly how honest a human being she is.

I'm impressed with Lana and Andy being straight forward, and have to say very surprised to hear so down to earth and "simple" triggers that prompted Lana to create Matrix. "Interrogation of reality"... hm... I can see how she had come to this view of environment at such early age, given struggles of her own attempts to find a place, to fit in this reality. So many took Matrix as an "Encoded Message" that bares secrets of Elites and many other hidden truths and I was one of them! Still am. Like works of Kubrick, the "obelisk" that had transformed so many, generation that Lana is a part of, so did Lana's "obelisk" had transformed so many, a generation, me. I'm however a bit curious why Lana hadn't mentioned Philip K. Dick who must have seriously influenced her...
In any case, just watched Matrix again, still kicks! Strange thing is - actors are getting younger every time I do, perhaps I'm getting older... :-)
    Bravo Wachowski!

~ the most important aspect of communication is that hundredth monkey " made ya'll think " thingy: to provide example & / or a ladder with which all others may self enable their own minds in emancipation to function more fully in serving life forward, it is your gateway to sentients, a pre-requisite to the authority entailed in the energy handled in bringing forth that which is most lacking the Universe, life

By the power of truth, I while living have conquered the universe.
Artists use lies to tell the truth, while politicians use them to cover the truth up. Yes, I created a lie, but because you believed it, you found something true about yourself.
A man after my own heart.
    Ideas are bulletproof.
V: People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people.
I know you're out there. I can feel you now. I know that you're afraid... you're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin. I'm going to hang up this phone, and then I'm going to show these people what you don't want them to see. I'm going to show them a world without you. A world without rules and controls, without borders or boundaries. A world where anything is possible. Where we go from there is a choice I leave to you.
    Choice. The problem is choice.
I have dreamed a dream, but now that dream has gone from me.
I love the French language. I have sampled every language, French is my favourite - fantastic language, especially to curse with. Nom de Dieu de putain de bordel de merde de saloperies de connards d'enculé de ta mère. It's like wiping your arse with silk, I love it.
Which brings us at last to the moment of truth, wherein the fundamental flaw is ultimately expressed, and the Anomaly revealed as both beginning and end. There are two doors. The door to your right leads to the Source and the salvation of Zion. The door to your left leads back to the Matrix, to her and to the end of your species. As you adequately put, the problem is choice. But we already know what you are going to do, don't we? Already I can see the chain reaction: the chemical precursors that signal the onset of an emotion, designed specifically to overwhelm logic and reason. An emotion that is already blinding you to the simple and obvious truth: she is going to die and there is nothing you can do to stop it. Hope. It is the quintessential human delusion, simultaneously the source of your greatest strength, and your greatest weakness.
No. Wrong. Choice is an illusion, created between those with power and those without. Look there, at that woman. My God, just look at her. Affecting everyone around her; so obvious, so bourgeois, so boring. But wait. Watch, you see, I have sent her a dessert...a very special dessert. I wrote it myself. It starts so simply; each line of the program creating a new effect, just like...poetry. First, a rush. Heat. Her heart flutters. You can see it, Neo, yes? She does not understand, why? Is it the wine? No...what is it, then, what is the reason? But soon it does not matter. Soon the why and the reason are gone, and all that matters is the feeling itself. And this is the nature of the universe; we struggle against it, we fight to deny it, but it is of course pretend, it is a lie. Beneath our poised appearance, the truth is we are completely out of control. [inhales] Causality. There is no escaping it. We are forever slaves to it. Our only hope, our only peace is to understand it, to understand the why. Why is what separates us from them, you from me. Why is the only real source of power, without it you are powerless. And this is how you come to me: without why, without power, another link in the chain. But, fear not, since I have seen how good you are at following orders, I will tell you what to do next. Run back, and give the fortune-teller this message: her time is almost up. [stands] Now, I have some real business to attend to, so I will bid you adieu and goodbye.
    Down here, I'm God.
    Neo, I believe...
    Deus Ex Machina
    Speak.
We don't need you! WE NEED NOTHING!
    What do you want?
    And if you fail?
    It is done.
Oracle: Well, now, ain't this a surprise?Architect: You played a very dangerous game.Oracle: Change always is.Architect: Just how long do you think this peace is going to last?Oracle: As long as it can.[The Architect starts to walk off]Oracle: What about the others?Architect: [stops] What others?Oracle: The ones that want out.Architect: Obviously they will be freed.Oracle: I have your word?Architect: [contemptuously] What do you think I am? Human?
Zion Archive Computer: In the beginning, there was man. And for a time, it was good. But humanity's so-called civil societies soon fell victim to vanity and corruption. Then man made the machine in his own likeness. Thus did man become the architect of his own demise.
Kid: Somebody tell me. Why does it feel more real when I dream than when I am awake?, How can I know if my senses are lying?
Neo: There is some fiction in your truth, and some truth in your fiction. To know the truth, you must risk everything.
Trinity: There's a difference between a test and a choice. For what it's worth, I think you could've handled the truth.
“Write every day, line by line, page by page, hour by hour. Do this despite fear. For above all else, beyond imagination and skill, what the world asks of you is courage, courage to risk rejection, ridicule and failure. As you follow the quest for stories told with meaning and beauty, study thoughtfully but write boldly. Then, like the hero of the fable, your dance will dazzle the world.”
    ― Robert McKee
“True character is revealed in the choices a human being makes under pressure - the greater the pressure, the deeper the revelation, the truer the choice to the character's essential nature.”
― Robert McKee, Story: Style, Structure, Substance, and the Principles of Screenwriting
“A fine work of art - music, dance, painting, story - has the power to silence the chatter in the mind and lift us to another place.”
― Robert McKee, Story: Style, Structure, Substance, and the Principles of Screenwriting
“In a world of lies and liars, an honest work of art is always an act of social responsibility.”
― Robert McKee, Story: Style, Structure, Substance, and the Principles of Screenwriting
“Stories are the creative conversion of life itself into a more powerful, clearer, more meaningful experience. They are the currency of human contact.”
    ― Robert McKee
“If the story you're telling, is the story you're telling, you're in deep shit.”
― Robert McKee, Story: Style, Structure, Substance, and the Principles of Screenwriting
“In life two negatives don't make a positive. Double negatives turn positive only in math and formal logic. In life things just get worse and worse and worse.”
― Robert McKee, Story: Style, Structure, Substance, and the Principles of Screenwriting
“(...)while it's true that the unexamined life is not worth living, it's also true that the unlived life isn't worth examining.”
― Robert McKee, Story: Style, Structure, Substance, and the Principles of Screenwriting
“Beyond imagination and insight, the most important component of talent is perseverance-the will to write and rewrite in pursuit of perfection. Therefore, when inspiration sparks the desire to write, the artist immediately asks: Is this idea so fascinating, so rich in possibility, that I want to spend months, perhaps years, of my life in pursuit of its fulfillment? Is this concept so exciting that I will get up each morning with the hunger to write? Will this inspiration compel me to sacrifice all of life's other pleasures in my quest to perfect its telling? If the answer is no, find another idea. Talent and time are a writer's only assets. Why give your life to an idea that's not worth your life?”
    ― Robert McKee
“Do research. Feed your talent. Research not only wins the war on cliche, it's the key to victory over fear and it's cousin, depression.”
― Robert McKee, Story: Style, Structure, Substance, and the Principles of Screenwriting
“When talented people write badly, it's generally for one of two reasons: Either they're blinded by an idea they feel compelled to prove of they're driven by an emotion they must express. When talented people write well, it is generally for this reason: They're moved by a desire to touch the audience.”
― Robert McKee, Story: Style, Structure, Substance, and the Principles of Screenwriting
“When we want mood experiences, we go to concerts or museums. When we want meaningful emotional experience, we go to the storyteller.”
― Robert McKee, Story: Style, Structure, Substance, and the Principles of Screenwriting
“Good story' means something worth telling that the world wants to hear. Finding this is your lonely task...But the love of a good story, of terrific characters and a world driven by your passion, courage, and creative gifts is still not enough. Your goal must be a good story well told.”
― Robert McKee, Story: Style, Structure, Substance, and the Principles of Screenwriting
“What happens is fact, not truth. Truth is what we think about what happens.”
    ― Robert McKee
“No matter our talent, we all know in the midnight of our souls that 90 percent of what we do is less than our best.”
― Robert McKee, Story: Style, Structure, Substance, and the Principles of Screenwriting
“We realize we can't go around saying and doing what we're actually thinking and feeling. If we all did that, life would be a lunatic asylum. Indeed, that's how you know you're talking to a lunatic. Lunatics are those poor souls who have lost their inner communication and so they allow themselves to say and do exactly what they are thinking and feeling and that's why they're mad.”
― Robert McKee, Story: Style, Structure, Substance, and the Principles of Screenwriting
“Deus ex machina not only erases all meaning and emotion, it's an insult to the audience. Each of us knows we must choose and act, for better or worse, to determine the meaning of our lives...Deus ex machina is an insult because it is a lie.”

― Robert McKee, Story: Style, Structure, Substance, and the Principles of Screenwriting
“Angry contradiction of the patriarch is not creativity; it's delinquency calling for attention. Difference for the sake of difference is as empty an achievement as slavishly following the commercial imperative.”

“All writing is discipline, but screenwriting is a drill sergeant.”
― Robert McKee, Story: Style, Structure, Substance, and the Principles of Screenwriting
“Whereas life separates meaning from emotion, art unites them. Story is an instrument by which you create such epiphanies at will, the phenomenon known as aesthetic emotion...Life on its own, without art to shape it, leaves you in confusion and chaos, but aesthetic emotion harmonizes what you know with what you feel to give you a heightened awareness and a sureness of your place in reality.”

Lana and Andy Wachowski, we want to see MATRIX 4-5-6 !!! And an extended cut of the original Matrix trilogy. Please, integrate some of the "Enter the Matrix" deleted scenes you cut from the movies back into the trilogy :
    ua-cam.com/video/7MO9jICdiGw/v-deo.html
    ua-cam.com/video/xnQTeJHuJqc/v-deo.html
    ua-cam.com/video/lXBXD44Ymww/v-deo.html
Some great stuff in there, and that's from Reloaded only! We still don't know how many scenes were cut from Revolutions.
We also want to see what you meant when you inferred that Sati was important to the future of Matrix : matrix.wikia.com/wiki/Sati :
Because Sati was created without a purpose, she was born an exile and would have been scheduled for deletion if the Machines found out that she existed. However, after consulting the Oracle on how to save their daughter, Rama-Kandra and Kamala made a deal with the Merovingian to smuggle her into the Matrix by offering the termination code for the Oracle's outer shell. The Oracle promised to watch over the child after Rama-Kandra and Kamala left the Matrix. The Oracle allowed the deal to go ahead as she believed that Sati was important.
    Also here : ua-cam.com/video/lXBXD44Ymww/v-deo.html from 5:07 to 5:40
We need to see this! Thanks! :)

1:10:36 to 1:14:00 they speak about the Gold light symbol. What do you think it is? Because we actually see it (for the first time) in the 2nd movie, when Neo sees that Seraph is made of gold light. Then we see the gold light in the opening titles of the 3rd one, we also see Smith in gold light, and the machine city, but not the Oracle (which is green, as seen when Smith in transforming her). So? What has in common Seraph, Smith and the Machine city?

    • @digiv3225

Omg this annoys me so much no one asked a follow up question. What is the gold light symbolize? I used to think it had something to do with the source code.

    • @Hassus

Lotr Hobbit You may or may not have heard this interview - it deals a lot with the so-called Gold light symbol and I recommend giving it a listen: /watch?v=3ZWFWzN-80I
While it is never answered very specifically, the way I interpret it is that, first of all, the Matrix trilogy perhaps is best understood as a kind of transformative work of art. In a way I think it is less relevant how viewers may deconstruct the movies and perhaps it is more relevant how the movies may deconstruct (and reconstruct) the viewers understanding. For example in Reloaded a lot of what viewers had gathered from the first movie was deconstructed and the purpose of Revolutions seemed to be to assist the viewers in constructing a new understanding in the wake of all the deconstruction that took place in the movie before it. These are broad ideas that Lana has talked about. Deconstruction and reconstruction are ancient concepts - they are for instance key concepts in the alchemical philosophy where they are referred to as "Solve et Coagula". Speaking of Gold light, gold is of course also very important in alchemy, though not only as an element that hard-working alchemists wished to learn to create from lesser metals - alchemy is also about finding out how to create "spiritual gold" within oneself with the alchemical processes. Gold can however not only be understood as a symbol for the purest core of the individual. It can also symbolize the purest core of all things or "God" if you will. Gold i think means something pure, beautiful, indestructible, undividable and basically perfect - "The One" is basically another term that could be used about it. The purpose of all this deconstruction and reconstruction I think is to finally (hopefully) be able to arrive at this gold both in the movie but perhaps most importantly in the minds and spirits of the viewers.
Concerning the specific occurences of the Gold light and the meaning of them, that will of course be highly dependent on how one interprets the symbolic meanings of these characters and places. I basically understand Smith to be the other half of Neo so that makes sense to me and I think the machine city where The Source is located is basically equivalent to what some would call God, so that also seems right to me. Seraph is tied to The Oracle and might represent an aspect of a kind of deep intuition connected to the oneness or something like that, I'm not sure. It is challenging dealing with these kinds of symbols and I think that is how it is meant to be - after all the Wachowskis held on to this philosophical quote from Schopenhauer during the entire making of the movies: "The fundament upon which all our knowledge and learning rests is THE INEXPLICABLE"...
In the end, I kind of believe that the best path to understanding the trilogy and its symbols is to follow the advice written above The Oracle's doorway and then to take it from there.

This two people have got a deep knowledge of astrology. They do not show it up, because it would be difficult to explain the audience in an hour how the hell astrology works. But the key point is how they speak, what sort of topics do they touch etc....Close to the end of the video she says "we like ideas and emotions"...
    They are Geminis and Cancer.....
In fact to me, Jupiter rising represents the inner journey that Lana had to face in orther to become outside what she was already inside. She´s got Saturn in Aires, her shadow, the warrior in the movie, and her Sun, most identified comcept with the self is represented by Mila Kunis, Jupiter in this case.
Now, the planet jupiter represents the expansion, freedom, no boundaries etc...
It is very interesting, and I´m sure that they are going to make, if they really go up for it, the best movie ever....
I wish I meet them one day, they are like brothers to me.

Wait, astrology works? I mean outside of the realm of the misleading? False. Astrology is as toxic a concept as creationism (that's "'intelligent' design" for all you tricksters out there.) ;) or the belief that dinosaurs' fossils were put in the ground pre-fossilized by a God "testing" our faith in that single, uninformed, surely metaphorical take on the Earth's "early years" (which fails to mention the vast majority of significant details pertaining to our current understanding of natural history, or cosmology for that matter!).

oh. my. goodness. I wouldn't dispute a claim that themes from astrology make for good naming conventions or for "easter eggs" within a movie, just disputing any claim that astrology actually WORKS. Science and money are NOT the same thing. FAR from it, in fact. It actually scares me to think of people missing the point of science (the scientific method) so profoundly as to call it a "problem"! That is where you ARE wrong. But I suppose there's no convinving you that the only hope for humanity (in fact for any other living thing) is going to be down the path of scientific research and exploration? And AWAY from mysticism and superstition? (of any sort)

I insist. Try to read some serious books on astrology (not as Sagan did in the past), and you´ll see. Science is money. Science do not work for the poors. It is a waste of time to explain these issues as you are brainwashed by scientific community (business men), sorry, I meant Multinational companies behind science. I mean Sciece MAg, Nature Mag, Siemens, SKF, BAYER, NASA, Jhonson and Jhonsons, 3M, Basf, REinh Biotech, Nobel Prize Institution, Smithonian Institute, British Museum (few British things inside, the least British place ever), etc.......

    Always the same shit.

They basically ripped off Ghost in The shell and Akira. Google them guys, the Matrix was not original. It's just that mainstream Westerners are not exposed to the source material.
