Finally got onto a few “Jobbing” jobs that I’ve had in the diary…..
Always something to keep you on your toes in this plumbing game🤦🏻♂️
I'm glad I am not the only one who hates those leaver wastes plugs. I swap them everytime I see them.
Oh they are just totally useless ain’t they
Awful things.
Oh the dreaded 5 mins job that turn into 5 hours and it’s unbelievable certain customers who will say “ oh sure it’s only a small job” and that jinxes you from the start. It helps massively when you can isolate the toilet at the supply and not have to clamber into the loft where there’s more stuff there than an Amazon warehouse. Well done Mark excellent video these are great to watch to see how you deal with the myriad problems plumbers face on a daily basis. Your a credit to your trade.
Thanks buddy, glad you liked the comtent
Another wholesome plumbing video showing the reality of the job and how to overcome the unforeseen, great work ethic Mark, always a pleasure to watch
Thanks buddy 🙌🏼🙌🏼👍🏼
Small jobbing jobs soon mount up and takes time to complete especially when you have to run around for spares etc but its nice to see how you and others tackle these jobs
I quite enjoy a day bobbing about getting bits done….. breaks the day up👌🏼👍🏼
Even for a plumber like me, been on the tools for 18yrs now, it’s great to see that so called simple jobs that turn into rite mares, affect other people, thought it was just me, so reassuring how you handled them, cheers pal for such a great video 👍🏻
Thanks buddy…. I’m showing exactly what we have to do day on/day out…👍🏼👍🏼
Glad you like the content
Great Sunday night viewing as always 👍
Thanks buddy… glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for sharing yes this is the way things allways seam to go 70% of the time.
Yep… nothing is ever easy
Mark I like to silicone around the sides of the wall sides of the tray to the wall then around the top as you did that's me !!
👍🏼👍🏼
Easily the best plumber round here by far! Can't fault workmanship or communication. Thanks Mark for fixing the toilet! Works perfect now!
Thanks Matt….. got there in the end…. Bloody thing🤣🤦🏻♂️
Never had much luck using silicone on wastes, always leak on me for some reason. Tend to use Plumbers Mait.
Yep we all stick to what we know and trust 👍🏼👍🏼
Great video mate, im getting more and more 'quick 10minute jobs' these day's that end up been a headache and not been such a quick job. If i didn't laugh it off id probably cry 😂
Completely agree mate👍🏼
It’s when you quote for a “10 minute job” and end up there 3 hours in total faffing about that hurts the most 😂
The joys of plumbing old basin waste had to grinder on the one I did Friday
Probably the same time as I was doing this one…🤣🤣
Had the same problem with a waste today. Got it out with a dremel from the top cut through where the cutouts are for the overflow.
Good video as always Mark.
Thanks mate….. Dremals are very handy
Them wetvacs are an absolute godsend. I bought a cheap evolution/erbauer one and its made life so much easier
Ain’t they just buddy 👍🏼👍🏼
Just got my new Tapex kit after watching this video. £150 but hopefully over time It’ll pay for itself!’😂
You will love it mate…. Trust me👌🏼👌🏼👍🏼
Thanks Mark. As a keen DIYer I just love these kind of videos. although you make it look easy!
Thanks buddy… glad you like them
"nothings ever easy" for a minute there I'd have sworn I was watching a plumb like Tom video😂.
Good show on how the easy jobs can sometimes be the trickiest.
Id appreciate a rad video🙏👍😊
Always the bloody “simple” jobs that test you sometimes
I always use two screwdrivers in the top of the waste , while holding the nut with my pump grips . Works most of the time ! 😊
Was nothing inside this waste as it was a sleeved pop up one……. And would of fell apart anyway by the looks of it🤣🤦🏻♂️
@@MJTiffPlumbing if you put the screwdrivers in the overflow slots of these wastes mate that helps to then spin them out 👍🏻
I'm a joiner and generally bank up small jobs on a Friday, and generally earn a bit more. Enjoyed the video, definitely silicone for those wastes 👍
Yep it’s nice having a jobbing day now and again
Love these little jobbing jobs great video again Mark keep them coming.
Thanks buddy, glad you enjoyed it
I love my tapex kit. I haven't found a tap I can do with it yet. 👍👍
Brilliant ain’t they
I used the Dudley kit following your previous video, great bit of kit , thanks Mark
Perfect ain’t they… really good units
little grinder mate used one also on immersion heater nice and steady all the best from across the border
Nice one buddy
Cheers for the video Mark, that basin waste had properly welded itself together but was no match for the multi tool great bits of kit 😊
Nice video Mark, I had similar ones like the basins waste last week, 5mins jobs can lead to hours thats plumbing 👍👍
Indeed that is plumbing….. never a dull moment
Erbauer too the rescue again. Top work again.
Standard go to tool at the moment 🤦🏻♂️🤣
Always use a basin mate myself mate. 1.99 from screwfix or toolstation
Yer I’ve heard they are good
You need to have a chat with your mate about that toilet seat!
Hahahahaa 🤣🤣🤣
What an excellent video - thanks for making it.
Surprised how calm you were with at that basin waste - I would have been effin constantly!
Thanks mate….. sometimes you’ve just got to keep your calm
Hi Mark, nice to see you on the jobbing about jobs, I always enjoy watching and doing them too.
I have encountered problems taking out all kinds of wastes in the past, they can be awkward.
Well done some nice jobs there completed as always, another great film thank you.
Take care and have a great week, regards, Chris. 👍👍👍
Thanks as always Chris…. Hope your doing ok mate
Love these little jobbing jobs, very interesting. Had a waste fall apart on me on a basin before, think it came from China, it was a pain. Keep the good work up 😀
Thanks Keith….. yep the Chinese fittings don’t have a great shelf life at all
Treated myself to the tapex kit last month, got me out of a few situations already even a factory fitted nut on an air source cylinder behind the board that couldn't get to with anything else.
Great ain’t they 👌🏼👌🏼👍🏼
Great practical jobs brill stuff.👍👍👍😎😎😎
Thanks mate 👍🏼👌🏼
Nice content bud, those lever wastes are a pita, even the casting of the waste looks porous and crap, not surprised it snapped. At least it didn’t end up with a new basin too!👍🏻
Yep thankfully that was ok
If I can identify the flush syphons I always just replaced the top part rather than the whole cradle mount as it saves time and a cheaper job for the customer. As long as it's nice and tight and not leaking I always carry a siamp optima 50 and fluid master push button as they seem to be the most common for me.
👍🏼👍🏼
Another great video Mark 👏 Wirquin are quality mate, they also do a shallow shower tray trap, I believe lowest profile trap on the market 👍🏼
They are ok…. Very over complicated for a syphon though🤣
That’s the Germans for ya 😉😂
Another good video 😃
But @18:23 you should be wearing your safety glasses. You probably have a few pairs in your van 😂
Indeed I should……. However it got to a point were I just wanted it out🤦🏻♂️
God bless you
🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@MJTiffPlumbing Amen hallelujah amen hallelujah 🙏🙏🙏
Know how you feel mate, had a day like that today on my own W/C 🤦🏻♂️
We all get those days🤦🏻♂️
That toilet handle would do my head in. I replaced the syphon in one of my toilets and had to make a connector to get the handle level…
Nightmare ain’t they
You gave me the willies using that chisel to turn the waste lol sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do 😅😅
Hahaha…. Gotta do what ya gotta do
Sometimes the simplest jobs are the hardest, plumbing is so unpredictable
Exactly buddy
Great video so good 👍👍⭐️
Thanks mate 👍🏼👍🏼
11/4 pvc washer everyday for me lol as well as plumbers mate.
👍🏼👍🏼
Sometimes a recip saw with a hacksaw blade does the trick
Yep good shout
its crazy how much easier a supply line would be there
I’ve had some success with cutting into the bubbles on those washers , and then they seal again ,
Yer I guess that would work as a fix as it just stops it seating
Got x2 float valves to do in my house, i will use the telescopic ones now i've seen your one done, plus i got a sink tap to swap like your one, i will also swap it over to a pop up sink plug. My wife thinks theses are just 10 min jobs and will not take long......🤣
Tell her to watch this 🤣🤣
Hi Mark. Nice few jobbing jobs then turn in to pain. Seems it always you at the moment mate. You are bound to get a break soon. Have a good week 👍
I bloody hope so 🤣👍🏼
job for multi tool on the basin waste
👍🏼👍🏼
The wirquin jolly flush valve hate those things
Most over complicated valves ever 🤣
😂😂😂😂
Multitool saves the day
Always 👍🏼👍🏼
Before you start filming and lift the potty lid, do you check first to see if there are any poo-poo smears and skids down there? It's just that I'm tucking into my tea and it's chocolate mouse for afters.
Hahahahaah….. will check just for you when I film another one
Mark have you thought about using a Thomas Dudley basin waste seal kit?
I have a few in the van
Love the jobbing vids Mark probably because i can relate to them especially when you was releasing that pedestal it was like watching myself do it........But isn't it always the simple jobs you've done hundreds of times that sods law go wrong somehow 😒
Glad you liked it mate…. Yep always the “simple” jobs that turn to a nightmare
Well you were flushed with sucess then it went down the sink. 😂 Nice jobbing video Mark. Have a good week next week.
Hahaha…. Thanks Nigel…. Hopefully it’s straight forward
oh to be a plumber (the basin was a pain) the problems arise because people want all pipes etc hidden so can not be cleaned and maintained easily, personally as a diy,er i use chrome pipes (compression joints and a bit more expensive but look good).
Yep it’s all about hiding everything
Plumbers mate at the top and bead of silicon underneath before the rubber washer and back nut, never have a problem, and the waste is easier to remove in the future.
Yep we all do what we know works and trust 👍🏼👍🏼
hello mate , when you going to make a video on installing water softner ?
When I’ve got one to fit for somebody mate 👍🏼👍🏼
I feel like you always include us by saying, "we'll do this and we'll do that". Easiest plumbing I've ever done mate. I've been out to many 5 minute jobs that took 2 hours but I've also been to bigger jobs that kept me awake the night before but went like a dream when I got there. you never can tell. Great real life plumbing vids thanks mate.
I know exactly that feeling you spoke of..👍🏼
Glad you picked up on the “we” thing…. That’s exactly the feel I want it to come across as…😉👍🏼
It always feels like we are there with him, I'm gonna submit an invoice soon 😂
I was doing some DIY plumbing today. I was cutting off the water supply to my downstairs loo/utility room, in preparation for gutting the room. I said I will be finished in an hour - five hours later and I am just finished…. 😂
Hahahah…. Standard mate
I like your mindset and attitude to the issues/ job you do. Brummie?
Thanks mate…👍🏼👍🏼
Some jobs just test your skill and patience 🤘😎🤘
Yep…. Keeps us on our toes
Basin wastes 🤬🤬🤬🤬doesn’t matter what I’ve tried it always leak first thing. Defo going to try your method of silicone and go 👌
👍🏼👍🏼
Does the tapex kit (I think that's what you called it) enable you to undo awkward bath taps easily?
Yes mate, it’s perfect for that….👌🏼👍🏼
I fitted a bathroom back in 2020, the customer supplied the basin and waste, around a year later the waste was corroded. I had to multi Tool the thing out. That was a £11 Amazon special. By cheap, pay twice.
I do like the odd jobs, but sometimes you wish you never took them on.
Cheap fittings…. Not worth the hassle as you’ve seen….
The toilet with the high rise Dudley. Was it an 8.5 or 9.5 height one? As I’ve had this a few times on sites and used the 8.5 ever since
Think it was the 8.5
Whatever happened to the old fashioned ball valves and plug and chains😂
Old school
How many of those pop up wastes have stuck in the down position? I had 3 in a row all did the same thing. Over a period of time the pop up spring in the middle (that can be swapped out) all stuck in the down position. Damn nightmare. Never again. Not the best but a plug and chain very rarely goes wrong lol
Yep they are horrific things…. Get them out
I’ve had this happen when changing a basin waste before. Nightmare. To make things worse the tenant wanted to silently stand about a foot away and watch me struggle. Had to tell him to leave me alone for a bit. People don’t realise how quickly these little jobs can go south!
Good old jolly flusher
The most over complicated syphon going 🤣
I alway fit a clicker waste ( which can also be problematic , but that’s another story ) and bin the wastes with the lever rods
Hate the lever rods…… horrid things
I have never seen a toilet fill valve that is not telescopic. Is it an UK thing?
Plenty in the uk that are fixed
If changing both taps and waste I think would have taken the basin off the wall the moment there was any trouble.
Yep that would of worked aswel…. Always other ways to do a job 👍🏼
Another usefull video👍
Thanks buddy 👍🏼👍🏼
It's sent to try us..😅
Indeed buddy….. keeps you on your toes😉
I only isolate those ballfix valves when I’m feeling brave been shafted too many times turning them off. 🫣if I’ve never been there before it’s mains of every time now
I know exactly what you mean buddy
Mark how do you price your reactive jobs like these? I fix things like this for family and friends, but don't know what to charge for labour. for people I don't know?
Have a set hourly price or a set callout price…. We don’t work charities buddy 👍🏼👍🏼
I reckon you angered the plumbing gods by making such a quick job of the flush valve and so they wrought vengeance with that basin waste! Mind you, I still don’t know what was so terrible about a simple rubber plug that somebody felt the need to invent those stupid lever jobs.
Hahaha…. Think your right
At that point I would have just taken the whole thing off lol 😅
🤣🤣 that was next
I know you use silicone for wastes but when one of yours eventually corrodes you will have literally the worst time removing it because the silicone will be solid.
They come out really easily mate…… it’s not a problem at all👍🏼👍🏼
19.40, the bigger the gob the better the job...
Ok 🤣🤣
It’s called proprioception when you can’t see what you are doing but can sense it.
Love that👌🏼👌🏼
Plumers mate, never found a use for it
I’ve not used it for years
Had this is my bathroom and it pissed me off. Trip to screwfix and an hour later it was sorted 😢
Good old Screwfix to the rescue👌🏼
Feel your pain mate.... Problem with this job is there's always another fucking ballache job like this waiting just around the corner no matter how good you are
Hahahaha very true
😎👍👍🤜
👍🏼👍🏼🙌🏼
Those pull up wastes are total crap i won't fit them
Rubbish ain’t they
I hate plumbing , much prefer gas work, service and repair of gas boilers
👍🏼👍🏼
NOT SUPPOSED TO SEAL TOP PART OF WASTE. ONLY UNDERNEATH CANT UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE DO THIS. ITS NOT RIGHT.
Making it not leak is the correct way😉👍🏼
Silicone is good, but personally takes 24 hours to set , really waste my time if , you willing to wait 24 hours 😂 basin mate is cheaper than a silicone itself, it’s a bastard to install tho , but don’t need to wait for 24 hours , that’s where you got a winner, and in some vanity units where chippys doesn’t care about plumbers, all the cuts done for a basin they left barely space for silicone tube to seal it under , and you got flexis and waste pipes in the way , only one way doing it is lifting whole basin up 🙈 just for a waste , and that’s where basin mate safe the all trouble 😅
We all have ways that we prefer👍🏼👍🏼
You ever thought you weren't cut out to be a plumber ?
DHC……
27years doing it, 16 years running my own company says I am…… you do know this is UA-cam don’t you🙄
Always the way it’ll only take a jiffy then your there all day
Yep 🤣🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
It's 2023 stop using silicone
No
@MJTiffPlumbing okay I'm sure you know more than the supplier who make them.
Loose spme weight, may need a little easier!
Learn to spell and form a sentence….. then try again buddy😉
Bet you wouldn’t say that to his face though. Your mrs has lost lots of weight i hear since taking a length from the local plumbers round your way. Amazing what a good session can do 😉
Brilliant 🤣🤣🤣🤣👏🏼👏🏼
They never do say it to your face, always via a keyboard🙄
No need to be disrespectful mate.
Exactly mate.
Lol he’s probably an old retired plumber of 40 years with fucked knees no wonder hes miserable lol we will let him off.
those tapped kits have shot up in price. i got one last year for around £140.95 now £156.50 from same seller. plumb2u they took ages to send out. i was looking forward to using it a few weeks back on a heritage basin tap replacement, but none of the bits fitted i think it was a 14mm and set only covers 13mm
Haven’t they just mate…. I was shocked when I added the link
@@MJTiffPlumbing if you were paid £1 for every time you said nerrad tappex kit you could retire early.
