Max uptier in the Ki-43-III Ostu! I flew it for the first time very recently, and I was surprised by its massive climb. I already knew about its turn, but barely any fighter it can face even in an uptier has a better climb than it. Guns don't yield massive amounts of kills, but it's also difficult for the enemies to kill you with that handling. I've died more to AA than to other causes in this fighter.
It's good even in a max uptier. Enjoy ;).

I love doing dumb shit with my bomber to try and help my team, i did a low altitude loop with a Pe-8 once, got 3 chasing fighters to stall for me and set one on fire cause they were hanging so still for my gunners.

I got this a few days ago and had a few battles. It's a great aircraft but just lacking in straight line speed. I was getting the hang of this plane but now i expect to see a few more of these around and in mixed battles i don't really want to come up against these because now I know how good they are. Thanks for the video Adam. Always learn so much from you and your videos.
If it wasn't lacking in straight line speed it would be much higher in BR.

Ki-43 III is my favorite fighter in Japanese tree. Very maneuverable fighter and climb rate is perfect too. This plane turn faster than Zero...........US A6M2 have no chance in dogfight with Ki-43 III.
I've fought US A6M2 in this, it's not as one-sided as you make it seem.

@@maxsuarezmuller7186 There are many factors at play, but if a plane turns really well thanks to its high wing area, then it will spend less time turning so the drag will decelerate it for a shorter amount of time.

@@AdamTheEnginerd I still don't understand... I've flown some yaks today and all i face is japan, which is incredibly demotivating.
All the enemy planes out-climbed me (I was flying the yak 3p and yak 9p). They have better rip speeds, better MER, better climb, better high altitude performance, better turn.
i haven't grind-ed any Japanese plane myself but in a test flight they feel incredibly arcade like. At speeds around 100kmh IAS, they will be ably to flip there nose over the top, meanwhile i cant find any other plane that does that, or a logical explanation to why that works.
I can understand that something with a higher wing area that makes a quicker turn will spend less time decelerating because of drag. but wouldn't the force needed to make such banks be a lot greater then when the turn takes more time and therefor less force?
take anything said here with a heap of salt, i get incredibly frustrated flying against japan in air rb

Brilliant flying, also highlights how even the best pilots still have to rely on mistakes of the pilots in faster planes when flying slow aircraft. I love how the Ki-43 is so gracefully acrobatic it's child's play to dodge to the point where you were faking them out with a false guns solution so frequently.

It is very acrobatic! From their perspective I must have been dancing around their guns, especially in the case of the P38J in the end.

Hey I've noticed if you change your fuel load at the same moment your plane spawns then the fuel you have will be in the middle of the two amounts, for example if I had 10mins of fuel then right when the timer was up I clicked the 20 min ide have around 15 mins of fuel. Not sure if this is a known thing or if it's useful but I found it in my fw d13 and i was a bit surprised, thought u might know what's going on. Also awesome gameplay as usual, you've helped me improve a lot, thanks :)

If you could do a little episode about energy traps and timing your turns as to how to close the distance gap that you do so well, well that would be pretty cool and much appreciated.

Ki-44-2 is even more of a monster, can dive from 5k to the deck no problem and climb back in 5 minutes

Completely agree on it over rolling I found adding more fuel fixes this and makes it perform more like a zero although wing rips occur sooner because of more weight in the wings also fire hazards increase

They had that opportunity when it was 4 vs 1, these people don't know how to cover properly and is the main reason Adam gets out of some improbable odds situations.

@@AdamTheEnginerd I'm pretty sure some variants can shoot, and the variant of an aircraft doesn't show up till it gets closer, so he took the safer option of breaking off. I think he played that pretty well (most P51 pilots I've seen would've tried to turn with you)

China got the version of the Ki-43 III that Japan actually used in WW2 (one with 12.7 machineguns), so pissed about that. Japan only made two prototypes of the Ki-43 III with 20mm cannons!!!
One of the Japanese Ki43s can load 2 12.7mm when you unlock them, 95% sure.
Hi Adam, thx for your videos, you are the best WT pilot and flight instructor on youtube. Have been flying this plane training for the 4.0 8x8 squad battles, but lots of times my guns hit planes with no damage done. I tried all the belts on several battles. Do you have the same problem?

You forgot to mention it’s frustratingly low ammunition count as one of its cons. It’s not as bad with its sheer maneuverability (btw flying this one felt like a roller coaster) as opposed to with the Ki-100 and you can optimize your combat strategy, but you may get pulled out of bigger dogfights by having to reload.
You may be advised to use your agility to dodge enemy attacks and it may sound daunting but it’s not as bad as it sounds.
It's not that low.

Hey Adam, i have a question. How do you dodge enemies who go headon with you and they are either above or below. I get killed alot when I try to refuse a headon.
You need the speed to dodge, first and foremost. If you're slow, you'll be an easy target. Second, look at where the enemy is pointing, and maneuver to where it will be most difficult for the enemy to get guns on you.
The KI-61 I and II is a very good low heights plane. Very good at RB Tank/Air.

Adam, what do you think about the so 8000 Narval? In my opinion at 5.7 it is not competitive. 5.3 would be good. At 5.7, Ta 152's Tempest Mk V's all have better performance than the Narval
It has airspawn though, and they manage to get kills most of the time so 5.7 seems fine.

I take the relevant data from the flight model data files to make the graphs! Every plane has FM data files!
Yeah, ki 43 has decent turn with fast role. It looks like turn better than A6M, however I feel uncomfortable about using ki 43, maybe rudder? How do you think about rudder of ki 43? I sometimes lost chances by ki 43.
Turns around the same as A6M, which is much more than enough to fight what it fights haha. Rudder isn't very good at high speed indeed, but I think the roll being hard to control is the main thing that prevents me from aiming well.
I used to see a lot of these planes in Air RB. It seems that people kind of stopped playing these unlike year or two ago. What has happened? Did they nerf it or nips simply moved to play A7M?
Yeah I used to see them more often. Its BR was increased from 3.7 to 4.0, perhaps that's the reason.

Question is how well this would've worked out if the Mustang and the Lightning would've worked together tho. I feel like the reason why the 51 started turning was because he expected to be backed up by the P38, which for whatever reason didn't happen, I blame that one on the Lightning.

Very impressive that you made this work. In AB this thing is possibly the worst fighter near 4.0 imo, the peashooter guns and paper armor are only accentuated and the strengths go away as the f-4 exists.
I think it's a great plane in RB, more than good enough in an uptier.

Ouais c'est un peu le problème quand il y a une telle différence d’agilité et de taux de monté, une erreur et c'est la fin.
Le Ki-44 II (hei) est moins maniable mais plus rapide que le Ki-43 III avec un taux de monté comparable, penses-tu que ce dernier est meilleur (sans prendre en compte l'armement) ou bien que les deux avions sont globalement aussi bons l'un que l'autre ?

Hey how do you get the thrust values n stuff at the top of the screen? I can get it by opening a map but it would have to be tabbed out.
For now I record it on my laptop next to me and combine it with the gameplay during editing. There's is a way to overlay part of your browser over the game, but I've never done it.
Alternatively, check out "Void Mei" on the WT forums which overlay part of the local host over the game.

Ok being serious for a second. They added this plane after I'd already moved well past it in the tree. I was planning to get it years ago but then I heard that the FM got nerfed (which I think it actually did) and so I never ended up going back for it since I don't like slow planes. Seems like it might be worth it though. Thoughts?

Japanese plane were designed to have a good handling characteristics because Japanese pilots tactics were involving 1v1 duel that require good handling capabilities
Hmm I don't think any nation incentivized 1vs1s in actual combat. Maybe they practiced more 1vs1s though, that I don't know.

How do I be as good as you on ps4, I use a controller, and I can’t really look around when dogfighting, since you have to hold down a button then use the joystick you use to turn the plane to look around
Yeah a controller is a disadvantage for sure. I recommend playing on PC.
Griffin Stead plug in a mouse and keyboard, you will always be at a disadvantage with the DualShock. Even a cheap keyboard and mouse work wonders, that’s exactly what I use on my ps4 😂

I hate facing Japanese plans in spitfire and yaks. They have great climb, out turns you and catch you in a dive. At least they are fragile.

1:16 what does "super charger gear 2" give you? Bigger engine energy boost in shorter time?
No, supercharger compresses the air to increase its density before it enters the cylinders of the engine to produce more power. The different gears are the RPM of the compressor. Lower RPM is for low altitude, higher RPM is for higher altitude to compensate the drop in air density as you climb. At a certain altitude, you need to switch gears to stay optimal.

Yup I use Manual Engine Controls (MEC). I use keyboard and mouse.
