Pau wrote the lyrics about a former friend who wanted her to hang out more instead of wasting her life in a band that was never going to amount to much.
I am glad to learn this tidbit about the band. I had a friend I said something similar to. Yeah, they never amounted to anything, though they could have. The talent was there, except vocally, but the confidence and effort wasn't. Pau's friend was just lonely. I merely pointed out to my friend if they weren't willing as a band to get out there, then they probably wouldn't. the Warning sisters knew what they needed to do and we are all thankful for that.
My favorite song from the Error album. That line "if karma doesn't hit you then I will" is amazing. I put that lyric on a t-shirt with a picture of Pau slamming her drums and wore to the show I went to. At the meet-and-greet Pau took a picture of it! 🤪
Not sure how long you've followed The Warning - Just yesterday, Matt Bellamy, from Muse, gifted Dany a custom Manson Oryx guitar. Last year, Lzzy Hale, from Halestorm, gifted Dany a custom Gibson Explorer. Three Days Grace has had Dany singing with them on stage, during Painkiller, at something like 5 or 6 shows- the last 2 at festivals in Germany with about 250,000 fans in the crowd. They just wrapped up their UK/European tour, suppporting Muse and headlining at a bunch of their own shows - all sold out. A few months ago, they toured the US as headliners and sold out every venue, if my memory serves. In September, they open 2 shows for Guns N' Roses (again). The band is blowing up all over and the industry is taking notice.
We saw them in Charlotte NC in May and I was blown away by their live performance. I have seen a lot of bands perform live in my life, and The Warning is one of the best I have ever seen. Their talent, charisma, and stage presence are astounding, I was mesmerized. We get to see them again opening for G&R in Knoxville TN in September, and thanks to a great friend, we got backstage access to the Knoxville show. Last year I didn't think they would ever play anywhere close enough for us to see them, now I get to see them twice in 4 months. I must have done something good to have this kind of luck.⚡
@@NoSmokingDogs I was telling my son after we saw them in Philly that is probably one of last times we’ll be able to see them in a small theater before they’re huge. Definitely thankful and appreciate it. 🤘🏼
Great reaction! Thank you for pointing out just how skilled Dany is at being a lead singer AND guitar player. That talent is lost on most reactors but YOU get it and understand. The crazy thing is all three sisters are so incredibly skilled in similar fashion. Oh, and Pau the drummer is the main lyricist and this song is taken directly from a personal falling out with someone she had called a friend.
Ya , the 2nd verse guitar riff is amazing! Singing, working the pedals and playing that riff all at the same time flawlessly. I love danys deeper side of her singing voice , its deep but still feminine.the tone is definitely pleasing to my ear , I think she's frickin amazing!
The Warning's show at Teatro Metropolitan is incredibly filmed - superb audio, from the board and professional video. It's a year or two more recent than the live show in the video and is just incredible. I highly recommend reactions to ANY of those Teatro Metropolitan shows, from their channel, as they are out of this world.
Pau is the main lyricist. All three are credited on this song, but the inspiration for the song was a betrayal. Pau was insulted by a friend, and this song was the result.
About 80% of the songs are started by Pau. Either the concept or cord progression (on piano). She said the drums don't have enough notes. Dany and Ale have written songs also. Pau has started a song inspired from a shopping trip. One from a short scene from the movie "Ratatouille" = Amour.
That concert was live. They did it live on the internet for their fans during Covid. Why? because they missed touring and the fans missed live events, most of all it was fun and we all need some fun in our lives during Covid. You just have to love The Warning. 🤘⚡⚡⚡🤘🔥
Awesome reaction as always. Any Teatro Metropolitan CDMX would be great, there are at least 4 you haven't reacted to. Live sessions they have Evolve and Z. Or if you want your mind blown check out copper bullets, show me the light, black holes and shattered heart from either whiskey a gogo or Dakota bar. Ages at that time were Dany 16 Pau 14 and Ale 12, also taking into consideration they write all their music and arrange everything. Funny thing about how this song came about but I'll let another The Warning Army member tell you all about it!
Written by Pau ( pronounced POW!! on drums), after a "friend" tried to convince her to blow off her responsibilities and commitments to the band to instead hang out, because "you guy's aren't going to make it anyway". The lyrics are great, it's a favourite of mine. The bad news? The Teatro Metro version is so much better. The good news? You still get to check that one out too.
For live performances, the gold standard is anything they have put out on their channel from their shows at the Teatro Metropolitan. They feed off the audiences.
Hey John! The more you see them live, the more you realize that Dany is Wonder Woman. She is an amazing lead singer, while also an incredible lead AND rhythm guitar player. And all the while she is playing with the crowd! She is a Rock Star! Watch this song live at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX!
As I'm sure many others have suggested, any of the videos that they have released from their show at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX. They had that show professionally filmed and drew audio right from the source. Simply amazing videos there.
This is a studio in their hometown that they have used several times for live sessions over the years. I believe they did these performances so that people could react to them without fear of having the video demonitized. They seemed to have been released shortly after the official music videos. Don't know that for a fact but it makes a lot of sense. Plus they weren't able to go on tour yet because of the Pandemic restriction and they needed the practice for whenever they could go on tour. All the songs from the Error album that also appeared on the Mayday EP were by then old songs for them but they had yet to play most of them live on stage. And they were trying to promote the music despite all the mess the Pandemic had created for the industry in terms of distribution of the music. They held up releasing the full album because of it and by the time it was released (last year around this time), the songs were over three years old for them.
This one in particular was helpful because the animated official music video wasn't done by them and I recall that some reactors had problems with that video.
Another great reaction John. I noticed you haven't reacted to Evolve yet, which is a crime in my opinion. There's a live session version and the official vid is good as well.
All three have written song but most are from Pau. She writes most of the lyrics and arrangements on the piano, then all three workshop it till they all think it's right. Then there is songs like "Ugh" which was a song that ended up nothing like it started and all three came back to it many time's, hence the name "Ugh" (not that one again). 🤘💥🤘
10/10 is so true. Animosity is my favorite TW song. It's so freaking catchy, and the lyrics are adorable. But most prominent to me are the energy and passion of Dany's delivery even though it's "only" a studio recording. It's amazing. Thanks for this reaction.
Right on man yes The warning are such a great band and being a rock vocalist myself Dani has got an amazing voice and she sounds pretty much the same live. The whole band is awesome.
Pau usually gets the songs going, ahe sings drums and plays piano. They all 3 are classical Piano trained. There is Video of them as toddlers playing Classical Piano Dany and Ale also play the Sax.
Enter sandman live ,choke live, martirio live ,Money live ..Error live .. all live music from teatro ..I think I spelled it right .Sorry for so many comments.Love your reactions to them .
Dude your Warning reactions are the best out there. Seriously. The insightful commentary, and the formula- just the right amount of stoppages, and the summary at the end. Totally on point. 👏
Subscrition deserved. you catched the very sense of the band in their full attemption to detail! You are the one who understood the future bigger band rock/metal!
John, several new live videos from The Warning from Mexico last year. Including on Narcissista Pau is frontwoman with her Drum teacher playing drums. Along with Choke, Money, Animosity.
Pau writes most of the lyrics, but they all collaborate after the initial drafting of the song. They've started working with some session writers, too, but everything they've done today (except Enter Sandman) is all theirs.
Thanks for this reaction! Maybe you should check Dull Knives (Cut Better) on The Warning Cave session. It is live performance in their studio home and I'm sure it will blow your mind harder.
Our fantastic girls from Monterrey wil rock the world. They are shooting for greatness. It´s been a while since I´ve heard such an amazing girl band. How cool to be 3 extra talented sisters. Awesome line, hahaha. if karma doesn´t hit you then I will. Ale is amazing, the bass is my favorite instrument. But then that guitar and that drums!
Great reaction! A couple of hours before you posted this i was watching them play it live in London from 4 Row back on the final date of their European tour. I've watched loads of TW reaction and live videos and seen them live in a stadium opening for Muse but nothing prepares you for seeing them live, up close and personal. To quote you "they are soooo much better live!". Truth! My ears are still ringing and I'll be buzzing for days after ❤
the little worlds come out of Pau's brain, Dany helps alot with the lyrics and Ale also puts her 2 cents in too, they have a vote system, 2 votes win with the lyrics
As others have written, Pau, the drummer, is the one who generally starts with the composition of the songs and then presents them to her sisters so that they all finish and put the instrument together. Pau is also the main writer of the lyrics, as is the case in this song.
The basic about this, as I understand it, is that this song was originally written by Pau (drummer), and is based on a real situation she went through, and then of course Dany and Ale "The Warningified" it and no doubt contributed in other ways.

Great reaction video! The Warning is an amazing band that I believe have an awesome career ahead of them. Check out their live version of Enter Sandman. Yes, it is a "cover" but The Warning manages to make it their own while giving an outstanding homage to Metallica, I liked your video reaction so much that I Subscribed without watching any other work you have done, so please excuse me, I have to go checl out some more of your stuff. ROCK ON!!!
At last! A reactor who noticed Dani's guitar work on this song! No flashy technical leads, no showing off. Everything they do serves the song, and they are all really good at it. You should check out two of their slow songs from their show at the Dakota Bar. They were younger then. Black Holes & Show Me the Light. Right in the feels, man.
Dull Knives from their 'The Warning Cave' DeTour show was a really good live performance. And then basically anything from the Teatro Metropolitan show is worth checking out. I think you already did Disciple from that show, but Money, Dust to Dust, Enter Sandman and Martirio are great as well (can't really go wrong with any of them, though).
Great Reaction! Another good one from there is Dull Knives (Cut Better). A banger of a song, but it's only about 3 minutes long. If you want to see them doing something different, react to Pau singing Black Holes on the piano at the Whiskey A Go Go in 2019. She wrote the song when she was 13 and it is about addiction and she sings it from the viewpoint of the addict. Amazing song and performance.
This isn't the Warning Cave. This is from there: Dull Knives from The Warning Cave for De(Tour) This must be the studio where they recorded the final cut before lava.
The ALPHA of this band is Paulina, the drummer... she's also writer of music and lyrics then all trhee girls works together to arrange the song. PAU is awesom a true miracle of the GOD's of Rock who truly exist, if this girls are here!
FYI if there is a live performance of a song from Teatro Metropolitan, like there is for this one, I would recommend to use those, as they feed of the crowd and the energy level is great.
🔥👸👸👸🔥 I totally agree. Animosity is also my fave. Love the main riff and the fact that they wrote in a number of interesting change ups that grab your attention. Paulina's caustic lyrics certainly give it a nice clout that hits good and hard. Thanks John🤘😎
They write most of the songs they do.
Pau wrote the lyrics about a former friend who wanted her to hang out more instead of wasting her life in a band that was never going to amount to much.
Oooooh yeah, that was not a smart thing to say...
As much as that stung she got a good song out of it - and her band is amounting to quite a bit..
Thar friend deserves the pau boot
That bad friend (not to say shitty) can now brag about having a song about her. 🤣😂
I am glad to learn this tidbit about the band. I had a friend I said something similar to. Yeah, they never amounted to anything, though they could have. Amen to the 'live' experience! It is hard to describe but it is great to feel!
Gotta check out more recent LIVE videos!! They Rock
I think that this performance was recorded at Victoria records studio . They also performed the songs " Z " , "Choke " and " Evolve " here .
Z is my favorite song from The Warning and their live session of Z was soooooo good. Dani has an awesome guitar solo and Pau has some great vocals.
the little worlds come out of Pau's brain, Dany helps alot with the lyrics and Ale also puts her 2 cents in too, they have a vote system, 2 votes win with the lyrics
Pretty sure it's two votes on everything they do, music-wise. It's be hilarious if they needed to vote on things like lunch.
You have ro see the Live version of this at the TEATRO METROPOLITAN THEATRE its Epic!🤘

Nice reaction. Yes they are good. Some of the best lyrics since the Beatles
Paulina is the principal lyricist for the band, and she wrote this song. It is actually personal to her, about a failed friendship.
