My son is going to Japan for a holiday & I'm making a journal for him to take to record his experience... I'm painting a picture on each page leaving space for his writings... will definitely try this on one of them. Thanks Harriet.
I've only heard it pronounced how you did it, but then I've only heard it on UA-cam from North Americans artists. I assume the pronunciation is different in the UK like aluminum and aluminium (which is also spelled differently in the UK).
Love your landscape tutorials! I am not confident when it comes to landscape painting but you make it so possible. You are such a talented painter and teacher Harriet! Please continue to give hope to people like me.
This has been delightful to watch. I love the simplicity of Japanese art. My husband and i spent 3 years in Japan many years ago. So many wonderful memories are flooding my heart. You have inspired me to attempt to paint something similar. Thanks for the memories. ❤
So much to love about this tutorial Harriet! Some really interesting colour mixes. What I’ve always appreciated about your tutorials is how you break down and simplify the drawing aspect. Thank you ❤
Wow! Simply stunning! My husband and I just visited Japan last November and I had been hoping you would paint a Japanese scene! Thank you so much Harriet! 😊
Bravo! Et merci pour ce temple qui se construit sous nos yeux, plein de volumes et de détails. Les arbres sont magnifiques aussi et la perspective qui nait sous ton pinceau est magique! Très très beau tuto! 😍

Oh my wooooord, Harriet! This is avsooutely gorgeous and I can not wait to paint it! When I saw those tree skeletons start to go in I thought this would be so fun to as a haunted house at Halloween.
Dear Harriet thank you so much for this delightful composition! ❤❤❤ The color palette is exquisite ❤❤❤ I also was in Japan and this painting brings me memories back ❤❤❤ I was asking you for this Japanese temple on patreon. ❤😊❤ Thank you so much! I am really pleased with this beautiful tutorial ❤❤❤
This is lovely, but probably too difficult for a first try Could you try all the landscape and a pretty bench where one might meditate. That is often seen in Japan. I LOVe the color palette!a, BTW, many, many moons ago my family and I lived in Kapan for three years!
I am a total beginner and my big love is Japanese watercolour scenes. With sun’s, mountains, reeds etc, Can you tell me the size brush I need for fine detail like the trees, I have some cheap brushes from a well known Danish chain ( but not fine enough ) and as I’m totally shit just need to know the basic brushes I could use for these types of paintings. Thank you and love your work xxx
I really love this. I want to paint it because of the colors, as well as because it’s so pretty.. At the very beginning when you start, you mention using imperial purple. That is not listed on your colors of the paint that you use for the painting. Is that the color you use to mix with the alizarin red? I know if I don’t use the same colors, it won’t be as lovely. Could you clarify for me, please? I can’t wait to try this. Thank you!

Thanks to who ever suggested this, and to you for painting it. I love the cherry trees and Japanese traditional architecture.
(Love the uh-LIZ-uh-rin 🦎 crimson! 😉 ) Granddaughter just returned from her studies/trip to Japan. I'll paint this for her!

Use indigo or charcoal black instead of paynes grey -I am a very senior hobby painter from Mumbai . You are indeed very talented!!

Hi, I don't have moonglow. What color can I use instead?
I found the answer to my question below with regards to the imperial purple. Please just ignore my question. Thank you.
Glad to hear it.
What color is Moonglow?
Wow this was complicated to draw. Arrrgghhh
