  • Grindal worms are a terrific source of food for your freshwater fish. They are great for most small fish including tetras, danios, rasboras and fry. They're super easy to culture at home plus cost next to nothing to set up and maintain. 🪱🍽️

Also, I forgot to mention in the video, you'll want to spray down the containers every now and then to make sure that they don't dry out. If you have a little bit of standing water along the bottom that's fine, but it shouldn't accumulate too much. 💦

What about trying some finer filter sponge like 30 ppi?

I haven't tried using that, but it's a good idea!

Note: I have had some of those green colored dish scrubbers slowly fall apart on me. I would be careful with using them. Seems like all companies like to make stuff that doesn't last so you have to keep buying more, more often!

Thanks for the tip! For now it seems like it's holding up, but if the sponge starts to get worn down, I'm going to give your filter sponge a shot!

I wanted so much to grow these worms for my fish. I bought the culture online twice. But each time I saw not one worm in the culture. They told me that if the worms died in the mail not to worry that there would be eggs that would hatch out to get me started but I waited months and never did see a single worm either time. :( Did you buy a culture to start and if so from where? thanks

These are such a great live food for small freshwater fish! I ordered them in July, and it does get fairly warm where I live, but the colony came in looking super healthy! I got them on Amazon, link below.
