This is the first episode of a new series on my channel where I will be going through each of Messi’s international tournaments with Argentina ahead of the World Cup in Russia. I will be uploading one of these videos every month, and sometimes more if I have to in order to get it done before the 2018 tournament. I hope you guys will enjoy this series, and maybe some of you will see some clips of Messi you haven’t seen before.
In this episode, Messi made himself a name as the biggest talent in the world when he scored 6 goals to lead his national side to the Under 20 World Cup Trophy. Leo was the top scorer of the tournament and won the prize as the best player as well, making the world start their comparisons with Diego Maradona.

Great idea. People keep on saying Messi has done "nothing" for Argentina, *how many players* are there that like Messi have been *the best* for their country, by a mile, since being *17 years old* (in every tournament)? How many of them have played finals in *youth level, Olympics* and *senior level?* How many of them have played *6 finals* in their international career, including a *World Cup* final, *3 Copa America* finals (back to back), *Olympics* final, *U20 World Cup* final and *3 consecutive finals in 3 years?* How many players have been the *topscorer* of their country and *at the same time* the player with the *most assists* for their country in *history?* I could go on.
Believe me, Messi's international career is maybe *the most underrated EVER,* as people are only obsessed with him grabbing a World Cup/Copa America trophy, forgetting *every single thing* he has done since being *17,* everything he has done in *qualifiers,* every *final* he has *reached,* every *record* he has *broken,* etc.
Messi's international career, purely spoken on *individual* play, is *unique.* The best maybe since Pelé (we can't deny how great he was for Brazil). *No one comes close.* The *only* thing *missing* is a *major trophy,* something that has to be won by the *team.* But like I said, Messi himself has *always* been *the best* for his country and *influential* in coming so far since he was a *teenager.*

World Cup 2006, aged 18/19:
- Debut at a World Cup
- Scoring first goal in a World Cup in his debut

- 3rd Most valuable player (after Robinho and Juan Roman Riquelme)

- Best goal of the tournament (chip goal vs Mexico)
Olympics 2008, aged 21:
- Won gold
- The best player of Argentina alongside Juan Roman Riquelme (FIFA).
World Cup 2014, aged 26/27:
- Silver medal
- Best player of the tournament
- Most goals for Argentina
- Third highest goalscorer
- 4x Man of the match (in a row), a record
Copa America 2015, aged 27/28:
- Silver medal
- Best player of the tournament
- 4 assists in one match, a record (semifinal vs Paraguay, involved in all 6 goals)
Copa America Centenario 2016, aged 28/29:
- Silver medal
- Argentina's all time topscorer (broke Batistuta's record with his freekick vs the USA in the semifinal)
- Most assists in the tournament
- Second highest goalscorer
- Most man of the match awards
- Team of the tournament
This doesn't even include what he has done in the *2014 and 2018 World Cup Qualifiers,* where Argentina qualified *largely thanks to him* while he broke *multiple records* in doing so.
