Signs & symptoms of a bad mole

- Moles (nevi) are growths that commonly occur and are usually brown or flesh-coloured and can be flat or elevated. A mole removal can be done by your dermatologist using a variety of surgical techniques, depending on the size and location. If you notice a change in a mole or if a mole looks unusual (e.g. not symmetric, irregular borders, very dark colour or multiple colours, or size changes), it could be dangerous (e.g. melanoma) and it must be examined and/or tested by a Dermatologist.

My mole started bleeding randomly yesterday and I had the mole since I was a kid. I should definitely get it checked out. I’m worried and scared.
Thankfully most cases will turn out to be ok, although we'd definitely recommend having a dermatologist check it out just in case.
@@Torontodermatologycentre thank you for responding. 🙂
@@TorontodermatologycentreCan a benign mole still itch??
@@mattk5020 yes, many benign moles, especially if rubbed or scratched, can start to itch
@@Torontodermatologycentre hello! How was the result? What made it bleed? I hope everything is going well with you.
Is it normal for a childhood mole to grow as well as sprout a strand of hair? It's a bit asymmetrical and a bit raised but the color is the same all throughout the mole.
yes it is
How can ask some thing about skin mole..... Its look like mole but suffering Itching and some time having pain...& hardness.
Omg same.. I’m scared am I gonna die?!?
What does it mean when an asymmetric brown mole area around it became itchy for a little while and then the whole mole disappeared? Should I be concerned? No bleed on the mole prior disappearance? The mole wasn't raised.
It is not unusual for the body to destroy some of its moles over time, and typically it either just disappears, or there can be some irritation of the mole prior.
@@Torontodermatologycentre Thank you for your reply.
Hello. is it okay to have a mole under the right little toe for a female? not so dark and not very symmetrical but symmetrical nothing else...
Do I need to worry... Thank you
Consider getting it checked. If its not changing (size or colour), not pitch black or multi-coloured, & not bleeding, then likely fine.
i have a mole that is circular in shape as well as slightly raised, it has been with me from birth, however today i noticed a little hole, and when i squeeze, it seems to bleed, should i be concerned? please help.
Likely fine, but without seeing it, best to check with an expert dermatologist.
any mole that bleeds should be checked out
@@markbolam1383 mine is bleeding
Please how did it go.mine just started bleeding today
I have a mole on my lips that suddenly pops up. It's been almost a year now. It increased in size a little bit. Now it's 5mm. Should I be worried?
Its likely fine. Moles on the face often "pop up" as we get older. Just to be safe though, best to check with the only true skin expert...a dermatologist.
I have a mole I can't really see it it's on the outer part of my vagina and it has been itching for 2 and 1/2 years. I haven't had any insurance until now and I have an appointment but I'm very scared
Nothing to be scared of, very easy to deal with by an expert dermatologist.
Hey wassup doc i am 15 years old and about 3 weeks ago i noticed a small mole under my finger nail not in the nail but under it then it just disappeared it that normal?
Likely fine, but I'd get it checked out by a dermatologist.
I have a mole on my back.. I’ve had it checked by my GP and dermatology clinic both have said they think it’s fine but it’s tingling , it’s been about 2 months and it won’t go.. is it bad if my mole is tingling and if not is there a reason why it’s happening?
Thank you for anyone replying.
Moles can get irritated from friction (e.g. bra, seat belt etc), or sometimes a pimple or cyst under them, or after being scratched. Typically they settle down after 2-3 weeks. If you're still having tingling after 2 months, I'd get it reassessed and/or biopsied or likely easiest to just remove it (all with a skin expert/dermatologist) and not have to worry about it ever again.
@@Torontodermatologycentre thank you for replying.. I wouldn’t be as stressed if it wasn’t also a symptom of melanoma that’s at least what I’ve read online.. but with it tingling does that not necessarily mean it is 100% melanoma?
@@Mattjonesll Vast majority of these would NOT be melanoma
Hi Doc , I have birth raised mole changing to skin colour , 3 different GP said it’s fine , the mole is no itching or crusting or bleeding and has symmetrical and it’s oval looking . It’s only one worries is the pigmentation which it’s start to lighten up , it’s worth of concern like ?
While likely benign, for any changing mole, best to see an expert dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis.
@@Torontodermatologycentre thank you so much , I have been referred to one hopefully get seen soon . Thanks for your reply .
Hi doc can I ask you something about a mole?
Is it normal for a mole to stick out? I currently have a small one on the back of my neck and for some reason, it sticks out.
Some moles are flat, others stick out. Change in a mole (e.g. rapid growth,) as well as pitch black color, or ulcerating or non-healing moles are concerning in particular. Best to see your dermatologist for the right diagnosis and/or removal.
Hii my mole is round but the color is not same grey and side brown and itchy it is there for long time but it has been raised from three years
Get it checked out by a true skin expert, a dermatologist...
Hey doctor I have a small mole on my arm black inside and tan edges is it concerning
Dark, especially black, and 2-colored moles, should always be checked out by a dermatologist just in case.
Sir almost a month ago i sctatched a pimple and may be it was a mole and i scratched that and now after around 2 weeks it is tingling out what to do
Shouldn't be a problem. When you have a chance, have your dermatologist take a look at it, but no rush.
I have a mole near my bikni area (close to thigh) i was since my childhood but now it's become bigger nd i have pain in it... Should i worry??? There is hair in it also.. reply plz
Its likely fine, but have your dermatologist check it out (because it changed in size & symptoms/now has pain) just in case.
I got a red cercle around the mole 😢is that bad?
In most cases no, but would check with your dermatologist, especially if any personal or family history of skin cancer, or many sunburns or tanning salon use, or the mole is changing as well, etc
Is it normal for a childhood mole to dry up and fall?
It can happen. That said, best to get the mole checked out just in case with your friendly local dermatologist.
What if it's got a hair in iiiiittttttt?
Generally seen in birthmark-type moles, this is a good sign that skin cancer is very unlikely in it
