Thanks! I love being able to go deep into this topic. While my audience will always be small, it is a real passion project for me to bring information like this out there for people to see.

ive been curious about whether or not theres a "raw" pressure response from the hardware itself. thank you for the confirmation

I haven't seen anything like that in the APIs I've looked at. And I think the firmware is always "in the way" processing the pressure to some degree before even the tablet driver sees it. But yes, I also would really be interested to see the "raw" signal - if only to understand how it is "cleaned up" before an application gets it.

Your advice is nice for software like Painter where brushtracking curve controllers are more limited. Also, the default tools on the driver software are limited compared to Clipstudio, the ideal optimization would be that the driver software was as good as clipstudio so you could even edit S curves...but you only have one node....:(.
Tried your way for many years and it is not good to combine two different curves, so I've always skipped the driver leave it as default then I only edit the general curve for Clip Studio and I leave all the brushes linear, because my big reason is "SPEED", because i will know how each pen pressure will feel without even touching the tablet, so the stroke will come out the way I like it, but if each brush had a custom curve it would be like flipping a coin to see that type of brush will come out on a speed art. I don't want the brushes to feel like traditional I want them to feel digital, just one type of pressure.
But this has also negative characteristics, you would have to customize each brush with a specific opacity and specific settings rather than using defaults, so it can consume time to customize each brush. But in places like Painter with a really limited curve controls, your advice is solid, because the driver can control the curve better.
Looking forward to your next video, this videos are very informative and nice to see.
    :)

Thanks for the nice comment! And thanks for sharing how you manage pressure curves. It's good to see there are different approaches that balance different priorities. I just published episode 5 about pressure levels so I hope you enjoy it and I'd love to get your feedback on it. ua-cam.com/video/PRbI02Y0CAo/v-deo.html
