Lol at these comments… Yes I know haha I was probably complaining more than necessary. I fished without a finder for many years and did fine. But it would have certainly helped in locating the grass edge in that dirty water on that particular day.
Man, Your positivity keeps me driving haha. I had a rough day fishing today in a new creek spot. covered in ants and spiders but still caught a few blue gill. walked a few miles. Even those days when you 'do a lot of fishing and not a lot of catching' it's still worth it. Stoked to be throwing Mule Jigs and slamming fish. Love all the Ultra Light fishing action.
That means a lot Daniel! Hope the Mule Jigs help you land a few more. And those tough trips like that can be frustrating but I am glad to hear you got out there and gave it your all :)
Congrats on your happiness, nothing like having a good family. Fishing the good old fashioned way makes you all the better, I too have been doing it "blind" for over 3 decades and still no fish finder,😂
I have a few Sienna reels. 500 size and a few 1000 size. Love them. Caught a 43 inch, 19 pound Pike on an ultralight rod and 1000 size Sienna. Reel performance was remarkable.
Fantastic video. And a truly great gill at the 3:31 mark. I wasn't too crazy about the nanofill, either. Went with the 2.5 lb Blue Moon Aijing Master Flourocarbon the other day. They have as low as 1.5 lb. But the 2.5 lb is a little easier for me to see, tying on the jigheads. Pricey stuff, but I have to say, wow. The sensitivity and manageability is just a pleasure.
I have not done coffee in the kayak. I will have to put that on the list. No doubt about those tough days setting the stage for the big ones. Enjoyed the trip.
Nice setup Ethan, my middle sone still beats the banks with a Shimano Sahara 1000F on a silver hawk L2pc. Yep he has 26 on your newborn. Thanks for the great effort you put in you content!
Great video and great fish 🎣 catching their. At least you can fish. Right now here in Pennsylvania, all it's been doing so far off and on is hard ⛈️ and flooding in certain places.
I have a 1000 and a 2500. I've used them for about six years now and still rocking and rolling. I do have to keep up on the maintenance about once a season.
I have a Shakspeare casting reel that I found at a thrift store for $2.00. It was made in my birth year of 1960 on it's side. I can't believe how well it works for being 61 years old!! Taught myself how to use a baitcaster with it!! Not easy at all.😳😳😎🤪🤪
The Shimano FX 1000 FC is another great reel. Super cheap and perfect for ultralight and even upgradable if you fancied putting putting your own ball bearing in.
I felt like we were coming in for a kiss 💋 😘 🤣🤣. Sometimes if I don't have a fish finder I use the Force to find the fish. I have a bunch of the Sienna 500s and they've been great reels for a great price. I think the 1000 series might be better for most rods though as the 500 series models are a little light and throw the rod balance towards the tip. I've almost always found that Shimano and Daiwa budget reels are pretty good quality. Glad you could get out for a bit Ethan and you made the best of it.
Heck yeah Fitzy haha yeah I got up close and personal. And I have been thinking about picking up a size 500 to try but I tend to like the balance of the 1000 (to your point) and the larger spool size which allows me to cast just a little smoother. Maybe I will do some experimenting though.
I have four Shimano Sienna reels I fish with in both salt and freshwater regularly. From the 3000 to the 1000, they are the best bang for buck reel I have found!
I used to have the 2500 Sienna (1 size bigger than yours) and caught my first Sturgeon on it. Definitely one of the best budget friendly reels on the market.
I've always used cheap fishing gear, cheap rods, cheap reels. I just picked up a KastKing Summer 500 reel ($25) for my ultralight setup and I've been blown away by it. It's so smooth compared to anything else I've ever used before that I thought something was wrong with it. Time will tell though, it's only been out for one outing and caught one fish so far.
I have a 2500 that’s probably as old as that one if not older. I like it, it has some slack in the anti reverse so it’s not my favorite but can’t go wrong. Love the content
Ethan. Try the piscifun carbon x. They have a 500 and 1000 size. You'll like it. Its super light and pretty smooth. Those are the sizes i use on my ultralight rods and some of my lighter bass rods. Plus you can usually get them at a decent price.
Ethan, or Daddy 😋, you have so many rods and reels you could fish all year without using the same setup. Congrats on the one year marriage and the great shout out to your wife.
Get a Stella. I got two and they are great. If can't Stradics are great too. 😉 The Stradics you can upgrade all the bearings to make it almost like a Stella. 😊
I believe that's the Sienna FE, which they do not make anymore except in a rear drag model (I'd like to try that one). The Sienna FG is the black/red version of it I guess. The FG I have in the 2500 high speed version, which is a decent reel. I own one of those silver FE's that you have, and I wish I would have bought 10 more. Can't recommend Shimano rods and reels enough for sure, my favorite brand.
I find that going under $200 for ultralight fishing set up is the way to go. Save your shimano Stella for saltwater rigs. My set up: Rod: Phenix elixir 6,2 ultralight Reel: Kast King zephyr 1k 4 lb maxima ultra green. Incredible UL setup. Very sensitive and veristile.
I had a shimano sienna fd for a couple years Great budget reel. I'd did end up dieing one me the bail spring just got too floppy. For around 30ish dollars it's a great reel. I bough another one for ice fishing the newer one the sienna FG it's great ice fishing and UL fishing. Spinners or moving baits. I wish it came in a HG version tho.
Have you tried the pfluger president? I have considered getting either the 25 or the 30 size reel for some finnese and ultralight presentations. It seems to be a mid range reel but more so than budget, but I would like some more input if you have any. Thanks in advanced!
Solid reel! Can't go wrong with Pflueger either. I tend to prefer Shimano & Daiwa just based on personal preference but I think you'd be happy with Pflueger too :)
That water looks about like every lake I fish this time of year. I tried nanofil for awhile and decided it’s a thumbs down for me. I think I remember you saying fish finders were unnecessary years ago. Electronics sure come in handy when finding fish away from the bank.
i just bought a 1000 shimano sienna and i love it,so smooth and feels like durable reel,i have abu garcia from walmart and can tell tye difference lol..now planing on getting a 2500 or 3000..what you think is a all around reel size that can handle everything?thanks..
Hello ! Pick one spinning reel you would buy for yourself for casting for crappies and bluegill from the bank the spinning rod that I have is the st. croix triumph 6’ 6” medium fast action 1-pc spinning rod and I have the 7foot 2-pc B n m Sam heaton spinning rod. Pick one spinning reel. 1. Shimano sienna size 1000 .2. Shimano Sedona size 1000 .3. Pflueger president size 25. 4. Dawia regal size 2500. 5. Dawia revros size 1000 are 2500. Please reply respond comment back to me with all answers to my questions answers please. May god be in your heart to reply a comment back to me with your answers please. I wish you and your family a safe and a happy new year 2023 .🙏🙏
I think I would go with the Daiwa Regal size 2500 as it should balance your rod well and give you versatility. The wider spool diameter will allow for smoother casting.
Fish finder!?!?! I'll tell you where you can find all the fish you want, the supermarket!! Why would you use a fish finder!?! People just get lazier and lazier by the day.
Lol Dirk let me clarify... When I say fish finder, I am referring to a depth finder. Basically, I am not looking for the fish, but rather looking for key depth changes & grass edges. This helps me locate the areas where fish are likely to live. Without that, in a muddy body of water such as this one, you can spend hours fishing unproductive water. But you are right... Technology has made us lazy haha
I’ve been fishing blind for 60 plus years and caught many fish you will do fine bro 😎
How is that even possible
@@sickassbeats no electronics not blind physically
Lol at these comments… Yes I know haha I was probably complaining more than necessary. I fished without a finder for many years and did fine. But it would have certainly helped in locating the grass edge in that dirty water on that particular day.

I have a love/hate relationship with fish finders XD
I have a few Sienna reels. 500 size and a few 1000 size. Love them. Caught a 43 inch, 19 pound Pike on an ultralight rod and 1000 size Sienna. Reel performance was remarkable.
HOLY SMOKES I AM VERY JEALOUS! That had to be a thrill :)

Interesting! I will definitely have to check that line out. Thank you for sharing that with me Thomas :)
I've only been out once with it so far, but loving the ultralight reel I got based on your suggestions - thanks!
Heck to the yeah! Hope it works well for you my man.
Awesome video man. Love seeing you get into a mess of fish.
I just bought a shimano Sienna and man that thing is smooth.
Can't go wrong for the price :) thanks Ramon!
I have not done coffee in the kayak. I will have to put that on the list. No doubt about those tough days setting the stage for the big ones. Enjoyed the trip.
Thank you! Yessir you gotta bring that cup of Joe and enjoy 🤠
Any day fishing is a great day . Your always uplifting
Thank you so much Dan! I have fun with it :)

Thanks David! Sounds like a fun little setup :) Can't wait to set Charles up with his first ultralight (in a few years lol)
Top ten most positive dudes walking around out here 🙌🏼
Let me just wipe the tear off my eye real quick... Lol thanks buddy you know I appreciate you. Can't wait to fish again!
Great video and great fish 🎣 catching their.
At least you can fish.
Right now here in Pennsylvania, all it's been doing so far off and on is hard ⛈️ and flooding in certain places.
Dang man I hope that clears up soon so you can go find a few!
Keep killing it dude!! Im gonna need to sip some coffee on the kayak now!
DO IT! Thanks Charles, hope all is well in MO :)
I have a 1000 and a 2500. I've used them for about six years now and still rocking and rolling. I do have to keep up on the maintenance about once a season.
That is what I like to hear! Yeah I try to take mine apart and oil it from time to time. Take care of your reels and they will take care of you :)
That Jenko rod looks amazing!
Can't wait to do a video on it. Gotta find some jumbo slabs first :)
Got a few old reels still rattling about that I had to save up for as a kid. Am 55 now so they're not doing too bad! Great video
That is so awesome! I definitely plan to hold on to some of my special gear for life :)

That is what's up Andrew! Glad you also enjoy them :)
Get a Deeper Sonar. They work great and are extremely veritable. I use mine from shore, kayak, and a bass boat. It also maps the lakes for me.
Might have to grab one for trips like this!
I used to have the 2500 Sienna (1 size bigger than yours) and caught my first Sturgeon on it. Definitely one of the best budget friendly reels on the market.
Wow that would be such a fun fish to catch! Can't go wrong :)
I've always used cheap fishing gear, cheap rods, cheap reels. I just picked up a KastKing Summer 500 reel ($25) for my ultralight setup and I've been blown away by it. I have a 2500 that’s probably as old as that one if not older. I like it, it has some slack in the anti reverse so it’s not my favorite but can’t go wrong. Love the content
For sure! This reel definitely isn’t my favorite but it is a darn good option for the price. I’ve had no issues 🤠
Ethan.

Haha thanks Dave! You know I have an addiction to experimenting with gear. It is becoming half the fun for me these days lol
I have the the sienna fd in size 500,1000 and 2500. I use them for ice fishing and open water.
Can't beat them for the price.
Darn right! Great little budget friendly reels
Get a Stella. I got two and they are great. If can't Stradics are great too. 😉 The Stradics you can upgrade all the bearings to make it almost like a Stella. 😊
I have a Stradic for bass fishing :) I have actually been enjoying my Daiwa reels a lot too! The Tatula & the Procyn are both epic
@@FishAnything Upgrade the Stradic to all bearings and you will prefer it over any Diawa. 😊
Nice video man! I respect the wife shoutout! The fish were cool too i suppose ;) lol
The fish were OKAY at best. The wife is the bestest in the world.
I have a Sedona 1000, which is one notch higher in the lineup if I'm not mistaken. It's been an excellent reel for me.
Love that Sedona I just scooped up.
I enjoy using 2lb fluro for my 10 ft converted fly rod to spinning rod.
2lb fluro chicken rig with 1/2 lb invisible sewing thread for my snells.
That sounds like a ton of fun!!
I believe that's the Sienna FE, which they do not make anymore except in a rear drag model (I'd like to try that one). The Sienna FG is the black/red version of it I guess. Yeah I can't keep track of all the different models but I guess my point is that you can't go wrong with budget Shimano haha
I also have a Shimano Sienna 1000 mine is the gold and silver most of my reels are 1000 series but I also have 750 and 500 i love ultra light
Such a fun way to catch fish! Great reel for the price.
I find that going under $200 for ultralight fishing set up is the way to go. Save your shimano Stella for saltwater rigs.
My set up: Rod: Phenix elixir 6,2 ultralight
Reel: Kast King zephyr 1k
4 lb maxima ultra green.
Incredible UL setup. Very sensitive and veristile.
That rod sounds epic - I have always wanted to try the Phenix stuff. Have never owned one! Might need to change that :)
good video as always.
Thanks T :)
I've never bought a brand new rod and reel lol I always just go to the flea markets in my town and find some great stuff!
Been there done that! That would actually be a fun video concept :D
They are solid little reels for the price. Definitely a fan!
“Big fish, small fish, and anything in between” - let’s be honest, it’s mostly been small fish 😊. Glad you could get out!
Sheesh! Can’t catch a break on that one 🤠🤪
I have a 6' med light Lightnin Rod that I can fish tiny - small lures with.
Nice! I bet that’s fun 🤠

I’ll have to check it out!
Oh boy yeah 👍🎣👍🎣

@@FishAnything the struggle is real...but all good here!!!!
If I was drinking coffee on the kayak, I’d be paddling for the bathroom, not enjoying a sunrise.
LOL! Truth
Sienna was my first reel:))
Bringing back them memories 🥰
Can confirm!
Fun little reel :)
Nannofil is great if you aren’t fishing clear water. It has terrible knot strength from braid to mono or fluorocarbon.
Yeah I am realizing that the hard way. Probably will do away with it at some point.
I personally like the 2500 size reel but it didnt catch me a wife. I will give the 1000 size reel a try.
Lmao! I love 2500 for bass fishing but 1000 for UL fishing!
What’re your thoughts on the daiwa bg1500?
Never used it! Might have to pick one up :) Looks like it is a saltwater reel!
That water looks about like every lake I fish this time of year. I tried nanofil for awhile and decided it’s a thumbs down for me. I think I remember you saying fish finders were unnecessary years ago. Electronics sure come in handy when finding fish away from the bank.
Yeah they are unnecessary for many situations but I am definitely a believer for the way I fish these days haha

It’s a brand I definitely trust!
Usually the rods last very long. Its the reels and lines that do not.
It can certainly vary! Can’t go wrong with most shimano reels though 🤠
