    I am laughing as I jealously watch you on the beach because of the winter storm we are in up north. I have recently got over worrying about other people and their opinions about what we do. It has made going out more enjoyable and allowed me to ask for, and receive many more permissions. Happy hunting, good luck!, and enjoy the weather down there!

      +Dinger51 Hahaha, I can only imagine! Yea, I'll have to get there with you. I guess since I'm still so new to it, I'm not used to people stareing and laughing at me. Oh well I guess! HH to you as well if you're even able to hunt in the snow. Hehehe!

    nice beach. I find on my SC beaches that I find d the most stuff aka coins near beach access walk ways over the dunes Down to beach or the towel lines where beach layout and play. glad you found out about the raptor handle cause T-Rex is a hand full with out it. can't wait for mind to arrive from gold diggers thanks to your advice. keep it up love watching you

      Thank you! I've had some luck near the beach exits as well, mostly coins and garbage. :) Oh yes, the Raptor handle is very nice.

    I used to live in Clearwater and Largo. I just started watching your videos so I'm not sure where all you've been but if you haven't been there, go to Treasure Island beach on Monday mornings after the drum circle on Sunday nights. I used to play in the drum circle out there and we regularly had a couple hundred people show up. You might have some really good luck hunting out there.

    If you are having fun, and not hurting anybody, or their property, who cares if they are laughing. This is not a question, because a question requires an answer. I do enjoy the videos. One thing, you might want to re-scan what you pull out of the holes, just to make sure you are not missing anything. Even though your 'target' still seems to be in the hole, you might have pulled out a similar 'target'. Also if you get a plastic scoop, you can 'scan' the scoop to see if you picked up the target. Have fun. Still frozen in Oregon.

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  8 років тому

      +RKE Round2iT Industries Yea, I do have fun. :) I'm glad you like my videos. That's a good tip. I usually rescan the holes, but I don't think I rescan the removed sand all the time. I'll try to make sure I do that. I'd hate to throw back a gold ring on accident! Yea, a plastic scoop would be nice. I can't even let the scoop get within 2 feet of the coil before it starts screaming. Ouch! I hope you guys at least get some sun, even if it's still cold! Thanks for watching!

    Last time I watched you were using your hubbie's homemade scoop, and before that shoveling with bare feet! The Barefoot She Detector, you were a legend already. Now I am jealous of your T-Rex scoop, and your lovely signed scoop handle. And I love your new beach shoes (well, when you're wearing them.). But, it's your attitude that is beyond priceless; happy with a few pennies, that's a good mindset to have. But, one day you'll have a yen for gold really bad, and that's when you should replace your sea hunter with a dual or multi-frequency vlf. A used Beach Hunter id would be about an even trade.

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  8 років тому

      +So Be It Lol you're a few videos behind my friend! Hahaha yea, a legend in the metal detecting community as having no clue. Lol! The TRex is a beast! Glad I went with it for sure. And I love my modified handle! :D Hahaha yep, I think lots of people are happy to see the new shoes. Much more better than bare feet OR flip flops. Hahaha well I'll tell you, the past few hunts I've gone on all I came home with were pull tabs. I was more than pleased to come home with $0.27 and ZERO pull tabs. Lol. One day I'll upgrade to the Excal II. It's my dream machine.... ::sigh::

    I watched your video showing off your new pin pointer and that trick regarding depth. I like my old black pin pointer as it hasn't much depth because I have to use a pick to dig my hard soils (not frozen either) . If I don't get any feed back from my pin pointer I knowhat I can wack the ground hard with my pick. Not good to hit the coin your recovering otherwise you get called two stroke. One for the hole and one for the coin.

      @SheDetector  8 років тому

    It looks to me that Clearwater beach is a much better place to hunt I don't know how much of a drive it is for you to get there but I think that the prospects are much better than Sunset beach. I'm heading back to Pismo Beach on Friday the incoming storms and high tides have been churning up the beach so maybe I will find some good stuff Wish me luck. Good luck on your adventures and don't sweat the people watching They have no idea what can be found on the beach.

      +Stephen Stonacek It is for sure. It's only about 20-30 minute drive. Not terrible really. Now that the summer people are gone, and hopefully the snow birds, I'm going to try to hit it more often. Oh that's great, I hope you find something awesome! I'm wishing you tons of good luck! :) Yea, they are missing out. But that's alright, more for me to find!

    Nice day there..was hoping to see a long video..sounds nice with waves crashing. Maybe it would be beneficial to show yourself hunting instead of just when you hear something. You may be walking and swinging way too slow. If your walking faster you will hear a signal and just back up for it. If you walking to slow your going to hear every deep piece of junk. Don't worry ..if there is a ring you will hear it. Try doubling your pace and swing..try it! Showing your pace and a longer video there you'll have more detectorist able to give you advice. Maybe state your settings as you go along also. and talk about your frustrations and questions in your mind while hunting. Cant help if we don't know your problems! lol How long did you hunt? Did you try around the pilings and under the pier? Nice beach and there has to be thousands of rings in the water and sand! Hope you get you Carrot soon! Always go up and meet and talk to any detectorists you come across...no telling what they may help you with.. most want to help newbies! See what they have found.. should be glad to show you! Hugs and HH next time! ;)

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  8 років тому

      +john harvey Yea it wasn't to bad. I would've made it longer but the rest of my videos were nothing buy bobby pins! Hahaha. I thought about that, but I worry people might get bored. Maybe I'll start working that in though. I'll give it a try. I guess I always thought going fast could cause me to miss something, guess not though. I was out for about two hours. The beach started getting crowded and the meter was almost up. I didn't get to close to the pilings but I did go under the pier. I didn't find anything but bobby pins under there though :/ I'll make sure to talk to them all. One guy approached me though. Said he watched some of my videos and wanted to introduce himself! I couldn't believe it. I was like, it's official, I'm famous. Lol! So, there is someone out there that knows what I look like. :D

    She, don't worry about those VLF units, a pulse machine is the deepest on any wet salt beach bar none. The VLF will get you on iron disc. but will pass right over stuff that you can get with ease. Remember, pulse is king in salt. If I wanted the best machine for dry sand then yes, a VLF. If the VLF is not waterproof though, salt mist air can find it's way into the electronics and ruin a machine, even if you don't enter the water. I would use my AT Pro on a dry sand beach, and in fact it works really well on the wet sand too. In the salt water PI units rule though. The MineLab Excalibur ll will really do well in salt, because it's made for it. That machine will set you back $1500.00 bucks though. PI's are still deeper in salt from what I have seen. MineLab uses multi frequency BBS technology which is far better then a VLF single frequency unit, but a PI will pick up stuff they missed at depth. So after someone with an Excal grid hunts an area or spirals out, go over it with your Sea Hunter MKll and you might be surprised what you can find that was just out of his reach.

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  8 років тому

      +Artie813 Yea, and I've heard that most VLF people don't dig things that are really deep. So I have a huge advantage. Yea it's funny what salt can do. It's not kind at all. The other guy that was detecting in the dry sand had the Excalibur. I thought I was going to have to fight him for my water spot but he didn't even get close to the water. :) I didn't know that. That's good to know. I'll be that guys shadow if I see him again. He'll be like, "go away!" Lol.

    HI She, stick with it and that gold ring will show up very soon. You just gotta get your coil over it. Try hunting the popular summer beach areas at low tide, and look for the low spots where the shells accumulate. Also, look for small pools of water and wet spots. When you start finding heavier stuff like sinkers and quarters, work that area hard because the medium and heavier gold should be in with these items. Take note that tiny gold can be anywhere. After a storm and low tide are two great times to hunt, as you can get to the deeper stuff since the storm will cause some eroding and pull sand out so deeper targets will be in reach. Check out surfdigger's videos. The guy is a top notch beach hunter, and he has some of the best beach detecting tips on UA-cam. I also use the Sea hunter MK ll. Here's some other tips: Bobby pins will give a slight double beep most of the time. Also, when you get a target, sweep it in all directions and if you get a solid crisp sound, then dig it. If you're in doubt, dig it. Good Luck, and Happy Hunting.

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  8 років тому

      +Artie813 I'm hoping so. :) Yea, I'm hoping to get a low tide this weekend. Last weekend I went out around 9 and low tide wasn't until 12. :/ Thanks for the tip, I'll keep that in mind when I go out this weekend. It's funny you mention that, I've noticed a few times the double beep but I always think there's two targets down there. Lol. Me being optimistic I guess. That's what's hard, I'll hear a faint target and dig it because I'm scared it could be something great. Oh well. It's a sure way of not missing anything I guess. Thanks, GL and HH to you as well.

    • @johnharvey1954
      @johnharvey1954 8 років тому

    Nice video. Good to see a woman in the hobby for a change. I am from Daytona Beach myself. I have to ask how you like that mark II, because I have one arriving tomorrow. Hope to do well with it. And I wonder how you became interested in metal detecting? Best of luck!....Oh, and don't worry.... you will have a payday soon enough!

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  8 років тому

      +Don Wilson (diggin Time USA) Thank you! I agree, there should be more. It's a great machine if you don't mind digging everything. It goes really deep. You'll dig two feet down for a pull tab, easy. Once it gets warmer I plan on doing some underwater videos. That should be interesting. Check out my video, All About Beaker. I did an air test showing what it sounds like but I also show what happens when you adjust the settings a little bit. I actually got into this hobby kind of by accident. I saw a video of a guy using a Vibra-Tector 730 and thought it would be cool to use out on the boat so I bought one. Then I upgraded to a full size detector after about 2 months. Now I go out almost every weekend. I sure hope so! Thanks for watching!

    I use to live there! DO NOT hunt on the left side of the pier about 30 yards out! Before it got destroyed by a hurricane a number of years ago there was a cut off there and people would throw coins off and make a wish. You can't move your coil more than 6 inches without hitting a coin! If you want to find coints and jewelry hunt at the beginning of the pier next to the restaurants, people drop coins on their way to the restaurants.

      +karl chebator Yea, at least the waves don't beat you up on land. Hahaha. That's a good idea. I'll have to try that one day. That's awesome to find that much change. Good for you!

    I had a bad string of bobby pins last week myself. Must have found 12-15 of them, five of them in one hole! UGH! At least you have some good weather which allows for shorts and beach shoes. I've been bundling up in thick sweatpants , 2 pairs of socks and a heavy coat for my beach hunts this January. Come on Springtime!
    Let 'em laugh and keep on hunting! Or you could give a big "woohoo!" as you're shaking out the scoop the next time someone laughs at you and when they ask what you found, reach into your scoop and say "I think you lost this" as you reach into the scoop and produce a "flipping bird". =)

      +nthemuseurodenon Oh I hate those things! Now that says to me that someone was being a turd by burying them knowing that eventually some poor metal detectorist would dig them up. Lol. Yes, I cannot compline about being on the beach during this time of year. :) LMAO!!! That's a fantastic idea! I'll have to remember that. :D

    Coins are good, bobby pins not so much. The main thing is you're having fun enjoying yourself, that's what matters! Nice job on this!

      +benchedthatpiece Yea, I couldn't believe how many I found. I'm sure a VLF had been through there already. Luckily they missed those three coins. :D Thanks for watching!

      +She Detector Na don't show them, you will know and they won't be crowding you when your out there.
      Another little tip for you go to HD or Lowe's or what have you and buy a cheap pair og garden gloves lot better than the big heavy leather ones especially trying to pick up small stuff.
      Great vidio once again and something to do while I wait for the snow to melt :(

      +She Detector :) I did and a couple more tips. The first is great for saving ware and tare on the old muscles.
      When you you locate your target and get a full scoop, instead of lifting it out of the hole just drag it back by your foot, sweep the hole. Now if the target is in the hole, just rotate the scoop to dump it, no need to lift. Or if you have a strong magnet on the end of a wood pole or stick, you can then probe the hole before sweeping and if it's a hair pin or any other iron or steel metal nine out of ten times you will recover it and can move on. This works great on the beach and in the water, or really any metal detecting scenario, even with a pin pointer you can chase a tiny piece of rusty metal, try the magnet first can really save a lot of time especially with a unit like yours.
      Next couple of quick tips if you don't have a coil cover buy a roll of gorilla tape(way stronger than duct tape, now basically cover the coil to protect it from wearing down, I have been doing this for years and when it starts wearing down just peel and replace. Coils wear out, especially if you follow my next tip.
      This works best in the water or dry sand, not on gravel. So you scooped up something and dumped and somewhere in there is a little treasure you can't see. Tip sweep over the top to locate target- drop the coil straight down and gently spread the pile with the coil always remember it's not a bulldozer.
      I have been detecting on and off for nearly 40 years and been using these tips with total success, of coarse all these take time to get used to but if you think out every move as you go by the end of a hunt you will have figured out you own rhythm. Sorry for being long winded but I believe some of this will help you and anyone that tries them.
      Snow turned to rain Yay!!! spring break?

      @SheDetector  8 років тому

      chris anderson I like the idea of dragging it. I'll start doing that instead. Also good tip on the magnet on a stick. Yea I don't think they make a cover for my coil :/ Thanks for all the tips. I'm sure they will help me!

    How much is a metal detector? I want one bad

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  8 років тому

      +pancho preciado Well that really depends. They range significantly in price. The detector I'm using in this video cost me about $700. Actually, the three that I'm currently using, Garrett Sea Hunter, Fisher F19, and Whites MX Sport all range between $700 and $800. But you can get a simple Bounty Hunter machine for less than $100. Check on Kellycos website: www.kellycodetectors.com/catalog/metal-detectors?p=2 In fact, Kellyco carries seven different metal detectors from Bounty Hunter that are under $100. You'll have to read about them to learn the differences though. I've never used a Bounty Hunter myself but they are good machines.

      +ngford98 Abington ...it went good. I found $2.09 in clad. I also found two pieces of bling jewelry.
      of course, your usual trash...bottle tops, tent stakes and odds and ends.

      ngford98 Abington Not to bad. I think it would be better to get there early, like when the sun first comes up. I'm pretty sure VLF machines had passed through already, that's why I dug so many bobby pins and little else.
