- Bringing the Rye Grass down to FAIRWAY Length! We got our zero turn mower back this week and it’s time to start mowing the DIY golf fairway down around our backyard putting green. We are mowing it lower with the zero turn and the using the new McLane reel mower to start working it down to true fairway length. The work continues in building a dream golf homestead!
So nice to see a "let's figure this out in front of God and everyone" video. Wish you all the luck with your successes and learning from mistakes. Getting it right is a thrill. Getting kicked in the ass by nature, or self inflicted wounds is frustrating but also what life's about. And you'll get plenty of both. Can't wait to follow your progress. Swing em easy.
Thanks Jackson! Just about every project we have built on our channel is a "figure it out as we go" situation...I've already started to study reel mowers by watching every UA-cam video I can find! I know you already follow the Spud Run channel, which is awesome, but go check out a channel called Lawn Tips as well. I learn a lot from watching his channel and you will love it!

One thing that might help that we used to do when I worked at a country club is called dragging the fairway. We would use an old heavy hose pulled by two gators, but you could probably use one and use the hose to get rid of the dew. We were told this helps reduce diseases that can harm your grass.
