And The wildlife is just as capable of causing utter destruction and death to humans. See death by tiger numbers in the Sunderbans, India Also see The Ramree Island massacre of ww2 where 500 plus Japanese soldiers were devoured by Burmese crocodiles.
The Great Auk was still around during the Year Without a Summer, and that’s when Mary Shelly wrote and published the monster story of Frankenstein! 🧟♂️
This bird head and beak shape are absolutely beautiful, it's so aerodynamic yet beautifully proportioned it's just incredible. It's a better design any exotic sportscar it's absolutely beautiful. No wonder it fascinated people and the wrong people too, apparently a lot of them live in England.
The Auk went extinct in 1844 Yet There's an account of a several men in a boat seeing 12 large black birds swin past their boat that are described as Great Auks and this allegedly happened in the 1860's. Could the Great Auk still be out there undisturbed and unfound by humans ?
No way... not a flightless sea bird. There may very well be other long thought extinct species extant... like the Ivory Billed Woodpecker for instance.. But a flightless sea bird? No
@@Baseballnfj Anything is possible, but yes... Highly unlikely. The ivory billed woodpecker is gone too imo. People keep seeing pileated woodpecker and are convinced it's the ivory billed because they look similar in flight.
I watched this series, Extinct, when it was first on TV.
I even bought the book!
This is the first time I've watched it since.
0:53 I actually fell for this, it looked so real 20:55
This was sad - humans are capable of inflicting such damage to the wildlife.
ABSOLUTLY!!! Just ask the dodo and the Auroch

I've read that fossils and sub fossils of the Great Auk have been found in the Mediterranean and North sea islands.
Leave it to man to screw things over…
So sad that they died

Nope. Highly unlikely. For centuries they are gone. If they are still there, people will at least spot them. But no recent account though.
Not likely. We as a species are pretty thorough when it comes to these kinds of things.
Those 12 black birds are no more.

Humans and our pathetic concept of wealth.
He’s got this the wrong way around, these are the original penguins. The penguins we know today were named after this bird and are false penguins.
We should protect great Auk
It's literally extinct. Did you watch the video?
Real Wild, please shown extinct animals stories vids ok. Thanks 😊
That is actually a KING penguin's fossil at the front page. But king penguins are not extinct😮.
very sad why did they killed this last great auk for no reason well past is the past but I they didnt killed it

The great auk is the penguin. Penguins were named because of theit similarity to the great auk aka the original penguin. So caption is misleading
