  • With GPUs getting bigger and bigger, GPU sag has become a real issue. There are many out there talking about “free” fixes to this but none really work that well so today we are going to show you several real methods for resolving this.

Original PCs (1980-1995) laid horizontally. Inline with gravity.

    Thermaltake CTE, solves all this

The part of the card that sags is the outer tail, where the power cables typically attach. So that's where the sag should be addressed. The way I do it is arguably a bit janky, but it does exactly what the GPU jack demonstrated here does. I use the empty barrel of an expired ball-point stick pen, cut a few millimeters too short (measured with the card in the desired, non-saggy position) with a self-stick silicone bumper on each end. Just wedge it it between the corner of the card between the fan shroud and the case floor or basement roof. You could also buy a 3/8" or so wooden dowel rod (finished as suits your build) and cut a piece to the right length. The advantages of this method are simple: it's very effective, and it's dirt cheap.

I use provided MSI support bracket with vertical Cooler Master ARGB in tandem. You have to be sure.... and it actually looks pretty cool.

The Asus TUF Gaming cards are especially prone to this. My RTX 3060 model is huge considering how "weak" the chip actually is.

Vertical mount....the best thing since sliced bread....

    My Asrock Extreme Z690 came with a board-mounted anti-sag arm, but I'm a vert-mounter...it's the thought that counts..😉

So there is always case design like the TT tower design where the gpu is always vertical but I chose a cooler master vertical mount and been very pleased with the results

I have one of them Phanteks vertical mounts in a Meshify 2, works well and looks great 👍

I feel it is just time to move to vertical mount as the standard with some universal case fitment. There isn't a whole lot of reason to avoid it any more, it's not like there's a lack of room in cases given most people will run a GPU and at most 1 extra expansion card these days.
