My favorite band from the "80s" is Testament, and my favorite band from the "00s" is In Flames. But In Flames doing a Testament cover, that doesn't sound right at all.
So fucking good. No one screams like Dez. Always loved Devildriver, as well as Metallica obviously. Curious to see what both bands new albums sound like, though with DD there's a date.
Dez is the fucking man!! Hands down one of the best metal vocalists of all time much respect for him and his craft!!!! I would love to meet up with him and smoke a J with him LoL 🤐😵😈
@jiminey6969 wht I meant was that Devildriver really did it justice. And the others arent all great. Like The Kerrang metallica tribute CD, thats crap as well
Listen to Winter Kills. There's barely any double bass on that album. Specifically, Haunting Refrain, Oath Of The Abyss, etc. Also, Chris Adler makes double bass very original and very creative; listening to Beating On Death's Door by Lamb of God.
Avacyn, The Purifier i i'm not mistaken, all devildriver's drums were written with but one bass pedal, something about the fact that boecklin is a freaking machine. not sure now, with the new guy.
Detuning sounds bad ass though. Also a common trick if your front man is struggling Metallica once did all nightmare long a step down and it sounded heavier
Nope that would suck. Playing double bass excessively is what’s wrong with modern metal. Older metal bands used double bass in certain parts of the song so you have a change in intensity through the song rather than just double bass throughout.
you cant cover metallica without its being obvious it metallica, but this song has to be the only exception!! its almost like they've made it their own! DD \m/
I facepalm at you, sir. To say metallica is bad is to say 90% of metal is bad, since all of them idolise Metallica. Boecklin himself even stated he started drumming because of ...And justice for all.
ya ken there are and were metal bands beyond metallica? some of which are very old, and most of which are very different. 90% is a severe overestimate, even in the American scene. But then again 73% of statistics are made up on the spot, so I can forgive you.
Perfect example of how a sloppy bad vocal can ruin a good song ... not to speak about out of place double kicks (tasteless) ... just make me wanna listen the original ...
Nope; Metallica is actually very basic now compared to what other bands can do. They're good, yeah, but other bands are better. Metallica still has that original 80's metal sound, which is what I think you meant to say, which people prefer to modern metal, but talking from a composition point of view, metallica's actually pretty basic now. Dont get me wrong, MoP was a masterpiece, but saying they're better than all other bands is very immature and fanboyish.
Thee ONLY 4 good albums Metallica EVER! recorded were : 1) Kill Em All 2) Ride The Lightning 3) Master Of Puppets 4) And Justice For All + the song THE GOD THAT FAILED. DEVILDRIVER did a way better version way better Metallica ever did when they recorded it
Na man have to disagree their would be no devildrive if their was no METALLICA man. Megadeth Metallica SLAYER anthrax Pantera started this shit man. METALLICA old shit can't be touched classics. New shit not so much old shit some of the best music/metal ever written man.
You know that you're happy when your favorite band from 00's covers you favorite band from 80's
This was not good.
My favorite band from the "80s" is Testament, and my favorite band from the "00s" is In Flames.
But In Flames doing a Testament cover, that doesn't sound right at all.
Amen
Hells yes!!!
I would love to her DD's rendition of the whole Album.Well done.
JUST when I thought testament couldnt be one upped on covers..... dez comes out swinging epic cover the instruments sound so brutal and tight....
This is truly one of the great covers of our time!
This is a tasty twist on the original, I like that they made it way nastier. The drums are super solid. Well done.
So fucking good. No one screams like Dez. Always loved Devildriver, as well as Metallica obviously. Curious to see what both bands new albums sound like, though with DD there's a date.
No one screams like Dez? lol
Best cover in the history of music
Agreed...
Bring on the Devildriver! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
Good cover! I use to be a big Coal Chamber fan in my youth. Devil Driver is good in my opinion.
Dez is the fucking man!! Hands down one of the best metal vocalists of all time much respect for him and his craft!!!! I would love to meet up with him and smoke a J with him LoL 🤐😵😈
Christopher R Winters He was a dick when I met him years back. I ended up kickin it with Boecklin lol.
Wow... the best cover I think I've ever heard
Soooo good
que cover tan hermoso .......
the singing reminds me of The great Southern Days of PanterA a bit.
Not the first time someone's compared them to Pantera. Listen to Cowboys From Hell and Clouds Over California.
Not even close nothing touches that album let's be real here
best cover of the universe
@jiminey6969 wht I meant was that Devildriver really did it justice. And the others arent all great. Like The Kerrang metallica tribute CD, thats crap as well
another great cover...
Fucking A! This cover rocks!
This is awesome!
Killer cover!!!!
best.cover.ever.
I'd like to see them do Enter Sandman. They could make it heavier than it already is
I might actually like this version better than the original..... it's more pissed off .....
But of course...it's DEVILDRIVER
Amazing!.
Ohhh shit this one slipped by me nice cover.
Love it!!
What album is this off of 😮
The best!!!
I would love to hear their version of through the never.
Holy shit!!! This is the shiznits!! Fuk man devildriver is the FUKIN best!! They r too beast!!!
Straight
Metal
yes!
Basis sound is powerfull.. i think!!🤘🤘
The best song!
Its cute that metallica tried to cover your song 😉
Hi Dez, how are you doing!
Listen to Winter Kills. There's barely any double bass on that album.
Specifically, Haunting Refrain, Oath Of The Abyss, etc.
Also, Chris Adler makes double bass very original and very creative; listening to Beating On Death's Door by Lamb of God.

not sure now, with the new guy.
Awesome
Мощненько утяжелили оригинал ребятки, зашло лихо...
@doug12341988 You clearly haven't listened to the other songs on this comp then.
*whiny comment about how it's not in E standard with clean singing*
*continues whining that 80s metal is better than all music ever*
except this album was 1990
And it's mediocre at best
The Comment Police you sound like a little whiney bitch; also knobhead, Black Album came out in 1990, you might want to get your facts straight too
Detuning sounds bad ass though. Also a common trick if your front man is struggling
Metallica once did all nightmare long a step down and it sounded heavier
Sick ass cover but it would have been real sic if he played the double bass throughout the whole track...
Nope that would suck. Playing double bass excessively is what’s wrong with modern metal. Older metal bands used double bass in certain parts of the song so you have a change in intensity through the song rather than just double bass throughout.
The vocals are rough as fuck. But I love it anyway. That bass rips at your face.
And on the 7th day John Boecklin's feet we're made.
good job on vocals suits a more heavy approach.
greaaaat cover
this was the best cover. but i think they shouldve gotten more relavent metal bands to do some covers. but devildriver was perfect for this song!
Perfect version /,,/
you cant cover metallica without its being obvious it metallica, but this song has to be the only exception!! its almost like they've made it their own! DD \m/
You know im a huge fan of MetallicA and DevilDriver there my 2 top favorite bands of all time and I have to agree with you James vox were better.
only the real masters can create school
you really think James' voice fits better?? maybe it has something to do with the fact that he wrote the fucking song captain obvious??
It’s so heavy
This is alot heavier than the original but this is how I hear it in my head just like dez
I mean, the vocals don't sound like Papa Het (not saying that's a bad thing), but the instruments sound more Metallica than Metallica. Impressive.
Fuck Yeah
Vocal style almost identical to Jorge from Marauder.
Fucking snare.. Lars is here in spirit
I facepalm at you, sir. To say metallica is bad is to say 90% of metal is bad, since all of them idolise Metallica. Boecklin himself even stated he started drumming because of ...And justice for all.

fuk yea
bass*
Fuckin A🤘
Good cover.
Much better than the original.
DON'T EVEN DARE SAY METALLICA SUCKS WITHOUT MEANING!!
i'm sorry i'm not a singer just a drummer!
what else would you expect when you have to cover Lars Ulrich's drumming? :D
Keyboard warriors attack!!!!! LOL
In comparison to James Dez still got balls.
A little faster tempo next time please
Ha ha. Do you blame him? :D
The way they mixed the vocals really doesn't do it for me.
+dan vega you are the reason I live.
+dan vega Someone: I don't like this
You: You're a fucking idiot
You know how fucking stupid you sound?
3:17 O_O
80s Metallica is 90% better than all of metal.
Most truthful statement ever
Metallica sucks to begin with
Never liked this song til now
John Boecklin takes a shit on Lars Ulrich.....
The less creativity the more double bass.
I love DD to death. Really do, Just don't like this. this isn't a growl song. The original is too strong
Original IS way way better.
вокал как труба из задницы...
best cover on the album. all the others sucked..even lemmys
Dip shit comment .... lemmy made it loads better
That's your lame opinion, Grandpa.
Perfect example of how a sloppy bad vocal can ruin a good song ... not to speak about out of place double kicks (tasteless) ... just make me wanna listen the original ...
La parte instrumental excelente, el vocalista la caga.
Es Groove Metal si no te gusta, no es nuestro problema
Calla y deja escuchar
John Boecklin is everything Lars thinks he is.
A little overkill with the screams.

DEVILDRIVER did a way better version way better Metallica ever did when they recorded it
Your opinion is good..............................ish
How about fuck off
Well he's a better drummer than Lars that's for sure
Metallica sucks, long live DEVILDRIVER!
_|_
Chris Sajdak NO METALLICA NO DEVIL DRIVER 100%
Chris Sajdak Go fuck yourself!! YOU FUCKING FUCK
Na man have to disagree their would be no devildrive if their was no METALLICA man. Megadeth Metallica SLAYER anthrax Pantera started this shit man. METALLICA old shit can't be touched classics. New shit not so much old shit some of the best music/metal ever written man.
REDDOGG 24 couldn't have said it any better myself but I do own every metallica album lol
I hate your vocals... Instrumental Part is great, but wait for my Band :D
Too bad DD lowered their standard to play Metallica.
vocal sucks. out of tune. just shouting.
Devildriver is amazing but why waste time covering trash.
This is just discusting
You know what I meant.
KG KGarrett faaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiil
Still a better version than the original, because metallica sucks!
