Great review for one of my favorite sub team vehicles
That was another enjoyable review. If you didn't know, the real life Sgt. Slaughter also received a LOT of air time when the G.I. Joe animated movie was broken up into five parts and broadcast on TV. He did intros before each episode and also provided previews of the next day's action. Guess the movie really needed to be stretched out to fill up five days. I taped them maybe 15 years ago when they were rebroadcast. Must have been on Cartoon Network.
The Marauders vehicle line up was really great. It's funny, it's like Sarge literally took old Joe vehicles, and told his new group to ",Slaughterize Them!" . Sadly while I saw plenty of Tiger Force and Python Patrol vehicles in stores as a kid, I only saw the Marauder figures in my area. I too agree The Equalizer is a cool tank, always wanted one, but your review of the Armadillo makes me want the whole set of vehicles.
If only the camo on the Marauders figures matched the camo on the Marauder vehicles, we might have had a very popular subteam on our hands just like Night Force. The light blue killed any hope of that though, but it sure didn't kill the aftermarket prices.
Because a substandard plastic was used on the Marauders figures, very often you'll find them with broken thumbs. It's the only group of figures that consistently demonstrate this flaw other than the original 1982's. This fact is reflected in current prices as loose, complete Marauders with file card sell for close to the thirty dollar mark quite regularly.
I've noticed that the blue starts to turn green on the Sgt Slaughter's Marauders figures making them actually look better.
Smooth on the inside, crunchy on the outside. Armadillos!
Fun stuff! For some reason I never remember seeing Slaughters Marauders in stores at the time. I like the commercial with the Python Patrol guys playing Volleyball in full uniform!
I Agree1985 was the best year of vehicles man :D I love the renegades man :D I got them and the mauraders I still need footloose :D he said you did the whole review without doing a push up 😂😂😂😂 great video my friend :D
I got the Warthog with Sarge but was a bit disappointed because there was no weapon for Sarge. He had to settle for the two missles and running over Cobra with it instead. The Equalizer is awesome. Radar, twin guns, SAM tubes, I don't have the box for mine but it is complete. What I thought was neat was the back of the turret opens and you can stow the radar inside for safety while transporting it (or for clearance on the aircraft cargo bay roof.)
I always thought this version of the Armadillo was influenced by the M50 Ontos. Both are tiny, have 6 external weapon tubes (lose a missle? Now it is a recoiless rifle!) Even the overall shape suggests the M50.
Fantastic review. That was one of the many vehicles (all 3 Slaughter's Marauders vehicles were in it) I got in a box at a yardsale for my son before he was old enough to play with them. Either Backblast v1 or v2 served as the driver for the Armadillo and the Lynx. He called them the Tank Twins. We found 2 of Stalker's v2 big machine gun and he mounted that on the fuel port as the gun for it. If only Hasbro had left the quad guns on the turret of that vehicle. It would have been great!
Wow! Awesome review HCC788! I had all 3 mauraders vehicles as a kid. However, i did pick up a MSIB Equalizer at a toy fair a few years ago. About Joecon i never been to one and wanted to really go since this the last one but ill be in Vegas for training for work that week. Bummer...
Did anyone besides me notice the mistakes in the commercial in the end? ! there are 2 Copperheads playing volleyball, he is an individual not an army builder, 2 Sarge calls Mutt "Footloose"
Nice review! I always liked the look of the Marauder vehicles. As a kid I only had the Equalizer and I think that was a gift, never saw them in the store.
Ever think about reviewing the Battle Wagon? Late in the line but one of my favorite vehicles as a kid, and it's not TOO neon.
Can't wait to see you Slaughter Marauder Lynx, it looks good.👍😎
I had this as a kid. Although I'm pretty sure mine was solid dark green. Totally loved this vehicle and played with it all the time!
I wonder why the triple T tank didnt get a Marauders repaint and re-released
And here I thought it looked/was inspired by the M50 Ontos.
It pains me to hear it every time you say you "got out of GI Joe". For better or worse about the time everyone else was 'getting out" I had accepted and embraced my geek side and never drifted away from GI Joe until they went Savage and EXTREME! Ah well.
Still, looking forward to one last go at Joecon, even as it's my first return in 9 years. This time with family in tow. Hope to meet you and shake your hand or fist bump ya if you prefer.
Great review! I owned this as a kid. It was a great upgrade from the original version all the way around.
Slaughterize-it anyway man enjoy Joe-con and hope to meet you someday as for the review always thumb up for the history background
I'm certain the Armadillo didn't show up in the comics. Armadillo(Rolling Thunder driver) was renamed Rumbler for the comics, so it stands to reason the Armadillo vehicle didn't show up.
It was in the issue that introduced Flint. Issue 37, It was even on the cover...
I definitely like the camo pattern on those Slaughter's Marauders vehicles, I might paint up my 1/35 Colonial marines APC model in those colors!
I loved them!
but I never had the chance to get them....
too bad that they did nt keep the old armadillo s cannons as well though.
good work Commander!
Great Review
Nice! I see you got a True Heroes AB 130 Shark in the back corner. I know its not G.I. Joe but you have got to review it some time.
It wouldn't be so much Larry Hama didnt like The Sgt. I was that HASBRO was on his case constantly to put new toys in the comics. They constantly railroaded him to put the new stuff n the comics, with little or no concern about previously shown characters and items.
The comics only got "Good" when GI Joe wasn't so much on HASBRO'S radar, and left Marvel alone to make the comic.
Thanks for this. I have the Armadillo sans missile launchers and I was wondering wth it was.
Slaughterize-It! 😂
Slaughters marauders vehicles and figures were no longer available in 1990.
Another great review, its a shame it will not be a sgt slaughter in the convention ... Hate that... They are slaughter marauders not mr C marauders ... Shame on club..
Enjoyed this review. This is just beyond my childhood GI Joe collecting, so I want familiar with it, but definitely looks like a nice vehicle.
I had the Triple T Tank with Sgt. Slaughter! I was having trouble finding it, until I found your channel and got to 6:57! Thanks! (Are these hard to come by?)
I say 1984 gave us more prominent characters.
1984 debuted more prominent characters.
Love your jokes Bryan... As always very original and so funny... 😂 Great review! §slaughterize it!!
Can you please review Mercer. My understanding he's modeled after a person from my home town Spencer wv. Thanks
And as usual your doing agreat job.
SM Sarge has to be the figure planned for review
_"I'm glad you liked it"_ (!)
Hope you can do a report on JoeCon like last year.
Uuugghh I hate wen i hear bout the final joe con it really sux bc I've NVR Ben to a joe con n this year's is way to far away from were i live in michigan! I really would have loved to have gone to at least one of them but I don't have the money or the transportation! 😧
VinTagE_KooK. 89 never been to the joe con too bro I am in the kalamazoo area mid west Michigan :( we do have some good comic cons and shops tho
Ya I live in Lansing and there's nothing around here at all! I can't find anywhere to buy vintage joe stuff.
VinTagE_KooK. 89 oh man I hear you. I went to Lansing for a toy fair there, was in golf/bowling alley. But I don’t know of any local shops. I got lucky on some cool finds in Grand Rapids
Hey are u interested in trading or selling vintage joes bc I'm always looking to trade n buy vintage joes stuff. I more go for like 1983 to 1989? If so I can give u my number n we could hook up n go toy hunting together bc I seriously have no friends that like vintage toys n joes n all the good stuff. I just moved to lansing from owosso n that town was so small that was worst! So I know nobody here so it'd be awesome to have a good friend that collects joes n vintage toy 🙃
VinTagE_KooK. 89 yeah man you got Instagram? Mine is marcelostoyroom you can DM me there bro
Sad sauce that it's ending.
The end of GIJOE! The end of an era... 😢
That Bridge Layer looks familiar.
I agree with you, these reissued toys were awesome. Even as a kid, I was offended when Hasbro tried to sell me the same toy again. I didn’t like reused figures or vehicles with new paint.
excellent update to the vehicle...improves on the original in so many ways. i could not agree with u more...DEF top tier vehicle and excellent budget option for the line. Oh btw...the guy that down voted this vid was wearing light blue speedos...(in jerry seinfield voice) "not that there is anything wrong with that"
I kinda wonder if you ever seen gi Joe sigma 6 which is a anime.
So why are they ending Joe-con International? Will there be something to replace it? Botcon ended a few years ago when Hasbro decided to merge it with cons for their other properties. Is that what happened to Joecon too?
That is exactly what is happening. Fun Pubs contract expires at the end of this year and from what I understand was not renewed by Hasbro because they wanted to fold Joe in with their HasCon.
What was Gold Helmet Destro’s team?
Chad Kimmel iron grendiers
james gamble thanks!
Are u Canadian
a large chunk of the content had nothing to do with the Armadillo :)
I have little to no interest in these sub teams. They ARE just lazy repaints and re-releases. So, it adds a different turret, and wheels. It's still a lazy re-release of the superior 1985 Armadillo. The figures are the worst. Barbecue looks awful with the blue.
I have an ongoing experiment with my Sgt Slaughter's Marauders figures. I'm watching substandard plastic bleach with age. The blue is beginning to change to a green and they actually look better now than when they were brand new. They're starting to look entirely camo colored.
@@johnsoehnlen4781 Not for me, my friend. No interest.
