Do you know how he determined the direction of the bending moment? Like sometimes on the Z axis there are two bending moment but how to know each their direction in that circle thing?
I understood the concepts of rotation about, bending about, shear and normal force and torque application with how to estimate directions correctly. Thanks a lot professor 👌👌
I think that Jeff Hanson is using the book "Engineering Mechanics - Dynamics" by R.C. Hibbeler for his Dynamics course. That is actually a really good book, with lots of clear and rewarding example problems, so you should check it out if you get that chance.
When Jeff is calculating normal stresses, wouldnt one use (pi/4) * r^2? He just uses traditional pi r squared. In my class we use the pi over 4 and I've been clowned on for not using it.
One of the hardest concepts i've came across personally and you made it very understandable. Thank you so much Dr. Hanson
god i wish my proff was HALF as good as you are :( thankfully your videos are free, super helpful. thank you jeff!! i owe my degree to you
You are a genius. Your videos will be helpful for generations and generations to come. Thank you Dr.Hanson
Perfect timing, we're doing this right now!
You're a life saver Dr/Prof Hanson

Exceptional questions with Exceptional solution. You are at your best sir.
Wow. This is what engineering is about. If you can help someone visualize how physics works he will be able to understand any concept. Thank you, Sir.
Very well explained. Intuitive and a lot easier this way. Thank you so so much for your work on education!
Much love from Brazil s2

more like Jeff GOATson
Seriously though we need structural analysis videos for fall!!! Regardless, thanks for everything so far Jeff, take care
Thank you Dr. Hanson🙏🙏
Thanks, Dr. Hanson, Hope that i can get the certified engineer title :)))
I'm not in school anymore but this one sounds interesting!
uploading right before my final. GOAT
Wonderful solids lessons!! really taking the time to explain the problems along with a good sense of humor :))
That was a damn good circle.
Thanks for all your videos and DC4L!!
KING IS BACKK 👑👑👑👑👑
thank youuuu... you might have just helped me pass!!!
"if you have a little noodle" "share it with your friends"
why is it done using the forces on the system rather than the reaction forces at the cross section?
Man, its too bad your a cowboys fan. lol Thanks for all of the help I don't know how i would do this without you!
I just want to say I love you so much
ı follow u as liking from Turkey Dr. Hanson
This man is a god
Waiting patiently for dynamics. 🤗😂

When you draw your graph, based on how you are looking at the piece. Should your positive x-axis be on the other side?
yeah I think so too in the cross sectional he drew x positive going to the right instead of left.
Why do you flip your x-axis, even thought you still have point A on the left side?
for the shear stress on point B isnt the force going to the negative direction? can someone clarify this part please

this is amazing
öz babam ya
Why is his logo blurred in all the thumbnails now?
Can someone explain how and why sigma stress in the z direction zero, since there is a bending moment about the x-axis
Bendings effect on the x axis , it's like a moment
can someone explain how to identify which stress is shear
