Ben, I've ridden Flying Monkey a bunch, and I've always said it is up there with the hardest mtn bike trails in the world - King Kong is just next-level nuts, I've (mostly walked the big drops) been down it once.
History lesson: Flying Monkey was a road up to the mesa that allowed early settlers in the area access to logging the trees - obviously a hundred or more years have been tough on it. It gets it's name from the Goodyear (yeah, the tire folks) facility up top used for testing military jet ejection systems. There's a track that would accelerate a jet fuselage up to high speed off the cliff and the ejection system would blow the 'pilot' out to float down - and they used monkeys - chimps I believe. Thus the trail name (pour one out for test chimps that didn't go well). Seeing you and Matt struggling on it some actually made me feel a bit better about my riding - Flying Monkey is serious gnar.
Deaks, you’ve given me the two best moments on tv this year. Brens awesome canyon flip and you rolling that gap. Thank you. Tears rolling down my cheeks watching this. From someone with 10% your ability on a bike, on a good day!

You guys are beyond insane!! And watching that bike just roll down the mountainside wondering if it was ever gonna stop was priceless...from the safety of my comfy chair sipping my latte. I am so not worthy! You didn't have to tell me how steep the hill was, I could hear those brakes. So, being new to the lingo, what I learned is that "roll it" must mean to do a forward somersault on your bike and land it like a gymnast at the Olympics. Correct?
