Great video, I love this song. I had posted a video using your song, but it got taken down because I used scenes from "Field of Lost Shoes" They claimed it a copyright strike. I'm not even monetized. 😒😒 but thanks for sharing 😊😊👍👍❤❤ Love it.
That corn field instantly made me think of Antietam! Jackson and Hood were stationed on the confederate left. If I remember right, it was Joe Hooker who brought up the guns and started shelling the cornfield. When asked after the battle where his command was, Hood answered "dead on the field." McClellan could have easily won by sending in his last reserves to break DH Hill, barely holding the center, but hesitated and left Hill alone. The federals were also badly cut up from their repeated attacks, and little Mac didn't want to risk it. I really want to visit the battlefield someday!
This Yankee Civil War reenactor loves the 2nd South Carolina String Band music. I respect the courage of the men on both sides. My only regret is that not everyone today has moved past the Civil War. To add; the Civil War was the most destructive event in our nation's history and I continue to pray that all can get past it.
The sad part is. By the time of Gettysburg many southern soldiers did not have shoes. The south, or more to the point, the states that provided troops, could not supply them in the field with what they needed. Yes, I am a Yankee, but I was born in Georgia, but moved north to Maryland when I was young, Five I think. I've studied the Civil War, and my Great Great Grandfather, whom I am named after, fought with the 46 Illinois, Company A. And he survived the war. This is a good song, and represents how bad the southern soldiers had it at times.
they *wouldn't* provide the confederate army with shoes, not "couldn't." infighting among the southern states and refusal to recognize jefferson davis is what led to their ultimate defeat. which shouldn't be surprising, given only 51% wanted to secede.
The proportion of southerners that voted for secession was far far greater than 51%, and the Confederacy did provide shoes. You only have to look at the military returns to see that. Plus there was the Richmond shoe factory. Granted infighting between the State and Confederate Governments weakened the Confederate war effort.
@@RobertJamieson-dc4jm you are correct it wasn't literally 51%, i meant that metaphorically (except for North Carolina which literally had 51% on the dot vote for 49% vote against succession).

Lol have you ever walked through a cornfield? He's not trying to "ward off bullets" he's just trying to keep the sharp itchy corn leaves from hitting his face.
The clips you chose show how cruel war can be with soldiers not having shoes or much food and having to, like the song says, march away to the firing line and kill another human being. War is usually looked at as big battles and glory not how cruel it is. Something most movies leave out
Yes indeed! Born and bred South Carolinaian here. Now live in Tennessee. Love the Battle Flag and all our Southern state flags...but the Palmetto flag and the Lone Star are special!
Your treasonous attitude toward the flag, and the actual idea, of the United States of America, is no doubt popular with yourself and your associates. Fortunately, the Southland (your take on it) lost and its modern-day, obese, pig-ignorant, racist, partisans are historically doomed and that within a couple of generations.
