Thanks for sharing your workflow. For 24 years I have also followed an “old School” organization with project folders and subfolders instead of using the “keyword and database” approach. Your video is the first time I have seen a clear way to use ON1 PR in this way. Hurray!
Cool, thanks!
Tom, i am glad to see youtube approaching On1 in this manner. I moved from Lightroom 6 to On1 because the Lightroom catalog was bugging and they went to SaaS pricing. Since I teach Lightroom Classic and Photoshop at the college level that was a huge move. Using On1 as a bridge-type DAM or a database DAM is great. I often catalog my working folder and then remove it when done. One hint i might make is you can make a setting that when you mark an image it automatically moves to the next with out the arrow key.
Thank you for the tip! "One hint i might make is you can make a setting that when you mark an image it automatically moves to the next with out the arrow key." I have included this tip in the beginning of the Part 2 tutorial.
I appreciate the video, it is always nice to see how others organize workflows. I select my photos with the X as well, but in addition I enable Auto Advance under Photo and select the ones I want to keep with a heart which is the P key. I find that using only two keys with auto advance makes for a smooth flow.
Thanks for sharing! I love your tip - " I enable Auto Advance under Photo".
Hi, in On1 is an option you don't have to use the arrow key to jump to the next image. Then if you rate an image it will automaticlly jump to the next image.
Regards
Andreas
Thanks for the tip Andreas!
Tom would you mind doing a video on resizing and where you can find it in 2024 Thanks for the this video.
Will do, but until I make the video, you can get to Resize in the Browse by right-clicking on an image and select "Edit in Resize". You can also select "More" in the upper left corner of the Browse window and select "Resize AI".
Very informative and I plan to watch the series. I do find the background noise (music) totally unnecessary and rather annoying.
Thanks for the feedback. I will lower the music in future videos.
Hey Tom, I have another question for you concerning presets. Do On1 raw have any presets like Lightroom has for portraits? It seems like 95% of all the writing on youtube only deals with Landscape photos when it comes to ON1 Raw. I have to admit one of the luring things about Lightroom is the writers aren't afraid to deal with editing portraits on a daily basis. The presets that deal with the face and individual parts of the face and body are very very appealing but it seems like on1 can do the same thing it just needs to be talked about more. I prefer to stay in On1 unless I have to go into Photoshop or Neo. Can you discuss apples to apples Lightroom's workflow vs On1 workflow? Tell me what you think and how can I make On1 act as if it was lightroom.
I love using ON1 for editing portraits. I will make a video showing my workflow.
You are correct that Lightroom has the ability to identify individual parts of the face and body that ON1 is missing. I find for most of my portrait work, as long as the software can identify the skin, mouth, teeth and eyes, the software works for me. Both ON1 and Lightroom does this for me.
Hope ON1 adds additional body parts, like hair and body skin in the future.
Thank you for your reply Tom I look forward to seeing Portrait video workflows especially on Studio work @@TomCheswick
Very helpful video for workflow using ON1. Like you I was using fast raw viewer but improved speed on ON1 2024 makes it much easier to cull within programme itself. Looking forward to the next 2 tutorials. Minor criticism is that your background music is perhaps a little too loud in the sections where you are not voicing over.
Glad it helped! I will looking into lowering the music volume in future videos, thanks for the feedback!
Innformative video, but please: The bakground music is very disturbing and takes away the focus.
Thanks for the feedback about the background music.
Please remove the background music (noise) on future videos as it is distracting.
Thanks for the suggestion!
