It honestly makes me sad that Edward never got to play hulk after this movie. I understand that Hollywood is a business at the end of the day, but if you’re gonna replace him with Mark, could they at least given him a solo movie? There is no reason why Hulk hasn’t had a movie in 15 years
There's actually a reason for that and it's due to rights issues. Universal has the film rights for the character and that's why Marvel hasn't made a solo film for him and are only able to use him as a secondary character on other things. Apparently Disney wants to trade Hulu for the Hulk and Namor film rights so there's hope well see one sooner than later.
@@JeffZ1028 that’s a problem for me, it shouldn’t take 15 years to try and work out a deal for a hulk movie. He was one of the only marvel heroes that were “a-list” before the mcu, and he needs better treatment. Disney doesn’t even completely own Spider-Man, they share with Sony, and if they were able to put out an entire trilogy before hulk got a sequel, there’s something wrong.
@@BigReek99 I don't disagree with you man, they definitely did Hulk dirty but it seems they're setting up more story with his character so there's still a chance to see something done with him story-wise down the road. Let's s just hope it's good.
I would definitely take note of the way Banner's eyes turned green when he opened them after he was injected for the first time. I will bring this up in one of your later movie reactions to explain to you why, but it's a very important detail Edit: - The purple pants that Elizabeth got for Bruce that were giant were a nod to the iconic purple pants from the comics that Hulk always wore - When Mr. Blue said that Blonsky would turn into an "abomination," it was a nod to his name in the comics: Abomination (that's the name of Blonsky after he turns into the giant "monster") -Important scene to take into account for it to make sense later is the very end when Banner's eyes turn green, but he doesn't transform (last scene before credits) - 24:01 This scene with the eyes will become very important later -Please keep note of the "serum" that Ross and Blonsky went to get from the freezer room (This scene and the one I listed above about the eyes are quite important) I definitely recommend watching some breakdown videos in case you were interested in all the little details that relate to the other movies in the MCU, you'd be very excited to see how they all connect as one giant universe and make you want to nerd out for the rest of the movies ;)
The security guard he gave the pizza to was Lou Ferrigno, the original Hulk actor back in the 70s to 90s. You guys should have watched the 2003 Hulk with Eric Bana. Its the first one.
True, and the first film where we got to see the Hulk do almost ALL the power stunts he can do in the comics! (The 3-mile leaps, throwing tanks like the Olympic hammer toss, etc. Although he DID do his infamous Thunder Clap fighting the Abomination!) The only real flaw other than his being too bright a green and not as good muscle definition is him growing. The Hulk's height only changes in response to WHICH Hulk personality is running the body at the time, and "Devil" (the Immortal Hulk) and Green Scar are only around 8 - 9 feet tall.
(At 29:20) shield? Those are his boxing gloves. If you remember the old Incredible Hulk universal studio video games, you'd remember him tearing a car in half doing THAT.
Fun fact : the general who wants to capture Bruce banner . He was able to get a sample of his DNA and reverse engineer it than he uses it on him making him “The Red Hulk “
The security guard that he gave the pizza to that's the original incredible hulk is name is Luke ferrigno and yes Betty Ross is the daughter of general Phineas Ross
This was one of the first superhero movies I saw as a Kid, along with X Men origins: Wolverine, so they are among my favorite superhero movies cause of all the nostalgia I have for them
Stan Lee is the guy who created almost every comic book character you know about today. The sheer number of characters and stories he created is staggering.
*co-created. Many characters were further written and fleshed out by the artists themselves as per the Marvel Method of comics; the writer and artist spitball the story, the artist draws the book, and then the writer fills in the dialogue. You have Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko to thank for much of the classic Marvel characters as well. Stan had the initial ideas and general plot and dialogue, while the artists created the world and character behavior that's most commonly associated bank with characters like Spider-Man, Thor, Iron Man, The Hulk and many more!
Not true, he is still pretty accurate and it’s after Ragnarok that he gets nerfed a lot. Avengers 2012 is WAYYYY stronger than this Hulk that even struggled to lift Ross army cars and Ragnarok Hulk showed Thor how strong he got when he got angrier and was able to catch Thor attack like nothing, it even scared Thor, it wasn’t until Thor started using his powers that he was able to start overpowering the Hulk.
Good catch, realizing that Doctor Ross had the same surname as General Ross. You're the first one I've seen catch that. I missed it my first time, myself. The reason Edward Norton was replaced was because he wanted too much creative control. As it was he came in and rewrote the script for this movie, which originally began as a sequel to Ang Lee's _Hulk._ That had caused a lot of stress between him, the director, and the studio, so when he wanted even more control, Marvel wasn't going to go for it. Too, I think Mark Ruffalo does a much better job as Banner. I _like_ Norton as an actor, but he doesn't do the "science nerd" very well. He has too much energy, too action-oriented. Ruffalo can "pull into himself" and be a believable nerd, and can hint at the Hulk beneath quite well.
The part with Betty getting him the purple shorts is kind of a throwback to how he originally looked or well his second look as the big green monster with the purple pants. Lol It did look funny though
As a fan of the old show one of the things the director did that I appreciate is that he pulled the show's "30-Minute Rule." In the show, and in the movie, Banner transforms into the Hulk within a window of 30 minutes. To limit the action sequences, make them stand out and develop the drama.
For me this version of hulk in this movie is the best one👍🔥. The title ‘The Incredible Hulk’ fits this version of Hulk to perfection. Edward Norton did a great playing Bruce Banner aka ‘Hulk’👏👏. I loved the design of the antagonist played by Tim Roth aka ‘The Abomination’ as he looked really scary and menacing👍. I’m really looking forward to your reaction and analysis. Looking forward to the MCU journey🔥. Take care and have a good one😁🔥
I like the Incredible hulk in the Avengers even if it did not make total sense that he was working with the team. But this movie is better than most people say it is. Abomination and the hulk really get shafted after the 1st Avengers movie. I know Abomination was not in the MCU after this until much later. But this movie is closer to the comics than any other. it is a good movie. I just want to see more of Hulk trashing everything. More Hulk smash!!
That Jiu Jitsu instructor is an absolute LEGEND (the whole Gracie family is). Rickson Gracie. Also, the guy he delivered the Pizza too, that's Lou Ferigno, the original Hulk from the TV series.
The best part of your reaction was seeing your faces light up with pure joy like you just tasted ice cream for the very first time. Priceless. Thanks for the reaction!😄
(At 22:07) Banner is Mr. Green. Dr. Samuel Sterns is Mr. Blue. But later on he does become the villain known as "The Leader" As strong as The Hulk is, The Leader is just as intelligent.
(At 11:47) You want nostalgia? THIS actor was famous for playing _The_ "original" _Incredible Hulk_ from 1978… Lou Ferrigno. Keep in mind, the actors that played David Banner, yes that's what his name was in the series, and The Incredible Hulk are two different people. David Banner was played by _Billy Bixby,_ who died of prostate cancer in 1993. The Incredible Hulk itself was played by _Lou Ferrigno,_ and is still alive.
One thing that many people don't know: that guy that slaps Bruce at the beginning of the movie, the martial arts teacher, is Rickson Gracie, one of the greatest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighters ever. Participated in a lot of fights at the beginning of the UFC (and in other tournaments), and is claimed to have finished his career undefeated.
There was a recasting because while Ed Norton is a great actor, he is also known to be very difficult to work with. He tries to rewrite scripts and gain creative control of the movies he is in. It seems to have worked for most of the stuff he has been in, but you can see why directors wouldnt want to cast him.
Your face when you saw Tony Stark, AKA Ironman in the end credit scene just makes want to watch every reaction to see your face at the end credits of every movie. You’re in for a surprise!
Very underrated movie, IMO. Ed Norton, who is one of my favorite actors, was not replaced because he did a poor job acting. There were various creative differences and personality clashes with people at Marvel apparently leading to Norton either not wanting to reprise the role or not being asked back... so he was recast. Rhodey (from Iron Man) got recast because he was asking for too much money. In general the casting and acting in Marvel films has been excellent across the board so that's never been the issue. Betty Ross (Liv Tyler) is rumored to be coming back for the Thunderbolts movie which will star "Thunderbolt" Ross (her father, though played by a different actor because William Hurt passed away unfortunately), and The Leader (Tim Blake Nelson aka Mr. Blue) is set to finally make his return in Captain America: New World Order. Both films will be part of Marvel Phase 5. Oh, and Tim Roth who played Blonsky aka Abomination made his return in Shang-Chi in Phase 4, and was also a major character in the Disney + series She Hulk.
Everyone is mentioning Lou Ferrigno (which is an amazing cameo), but the pizza man that Bruce works for is actually the original voice actor for Spider-Man! He voices Spidey in the classic 1967 cartoon!
I don’t know if you noticed, but in the factory when he first turns into the hulk and they throw the smoke bomb at him, you can hear Hulk say “leave me alone”
Best, most accurate Hulk as of yet. This one is the rawest one. And Tim Roth did a great job. 0:22- Wait, like the actress from "Fired Up" Shoshana Bush!!!
"LEAVE HULK ALONE!!!" Lou Feringo (the huge security guard) played Hulk (live action 80s), then voiced him here and in the 90s cartoon series. My theory: this Hulk is imprisoned in a Skrull prison and Mark Ruffalo's Hulk is an imperfect clone.
Great reaction, guys! And props to Shoshanna* for figuring out the relationship between Betty and General Ross. It's common knowledge to comic book fans, but often a surprise to those who are new to these characters, and to the MCU. Have fun with the next one! *P.S. Apologies if I spelled your name wrong...
28:37 Yeah the heart beating for just a second is needed, bcos Bruce actually dies over there, and then hulk brings him back alive, it's like, hulk won't allow Bruce to die. That's why he took some time before he came out is what I know
You know about the end credits scenes. You know about the Stan Lee cameos. A third thing to watch for is that nearly every MCU movie has someone falling/jumping/ejecting from an airplane or helicopter.
Garrett Hedlund, Mark Wahlberg, Andre 3000, Sofia Vergara and Tyrese Gibson a 2005 Action and Crime Movie Called Four Brothers Is my favorite movie should check this movie out amazing movie This is literally my first movie by Tyrese I ever seen
Fun Fact: In the Comics, Elizabeth Betty Ross’s father, he instigated his Daughter’s transformation into the Hulk known as Red-She Hulk. At that time in the Comics, her Old Man General Ross was already Red-Hulk for quite some time. In the Hulk comics themselves, there’s a lot of Hulk Villains and Heroes who All share the being Exposed to Gamma Rays storyline in one way or another and each have their own Origin story to go along with it.
Not to mention that Betty recently reverted from "Red She-Hulk" to her original 1970s Gamma identity The Harpy, albeit a red version instead of her original green skin, hair, and feathers.
I just want to point out how strong Hulk is. In the comics, he once held together a planet. Literally. He just jumped in there and held two tectonic plates together with his hands.
Stan Lee rest his soul was a the creator of Marvel. He was such a sweet man from what people have told me and have meet him. FYI the police officer that he gave the pizza to was the original Incredible Hulk from the 80's-90's tv show. Lou Ferrigno. He was a bodybuilder that competed alongside Arnold.
The previous Hulk (starring Eric Bana) isn't labeled MCU but the story was the prequel of this. I was gonna suggest to watch that one also, but too late now 😂😂😂
Banner volunteered on an experiment that is meant to make him resistant to radiation, only to realize that he participated on a super-soldier program that Steve Rogers had (except with Gamma instead of Vita).
I've seen this film several times and I realized something I hadn't caught before. I believe the helicopter type that Betty and General Ross are on toward the end is nicknamed "Jolly Green Giant". So a Jolly Green Giant had the Abomination and a "not so jolly" green giant hanging from it.
Hey, I like the little cameo of Lou Ferrigno as watchman in the univerisity 😄 He played the Hulk in the 70s TV show. The original origin story is that Dr. Banner has been exposed to a massive overdose of gamma rays during an a-bomb test which caused a genetic mutation. Since then, everytime he is stressed, in pain or angry he is transformimg into Hulk, an unbeliveable strong but primitve creature. He also gets stronger and bigger the angrier he gets. This origin has been altered multiple times over the years, but gamma radiation is still the main part and the reason why Banner is so careful about nobody got in contact with his blood. Banner and Hulk are 2 different characters and don't have any memory of each other, like a modern version of Jekyll and Hyde. Bullets can't hurt the Hulk because his muscle structure is so dense, and even if somethings causes a wound it will heal up immediatly. That's why the soldiers attack him with microwave weapons. Bad idea 😂
Edward Norton was a far superior Banner/Hulk than Mark Ruffalo. It still annoys me that they took one of the most iconic figures in all of the MCU and eventually turned him into a complete joke. The primary reason why Norton ended up leaving is because he felt that Banner/Hulk should remain the serious and tragic character that you see in this film. The studio, however, decided they wanted him to become a big green clown because they felt that the Hulk was "too powerful" and "too scary".
Bruce Banner has Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) which is a real condition where one develops another personality top cope with something. Bruce got it because his father abused him as a child. When the gamma experiment happened, his alternate personality took the form of Hulk. Because of this, Hulk is a completely different person from Bruce, not just a branch off from Bruce.
The opening to this movie is very quick and vague because they were assuming knowledge on the part of the audience. That's mostly because The Incredible Hulk was a hit TV show back in the late 1970s. He was probably Marvel's best-known character to the general public for most of the last century.
What I loved about this movie is you feel Hulk’s rage and anger when he on screen. Another one is the build up just like in The Avengers, when you are waiting for Banner to turn into the Hulk.

I remember when Iron Man came out they were talking about a shared universe. I didn't think much of it because it really hadn't been done before. Then Hulk came out and Tony Stark showed up in the end credit scene. That was the moment I knew the world was in for something special.
Best part about this movie was having the original Hulk, Luke ferringo. When his eyes changed, they did it just like Luke's hulk. Iconic and very scary.
The side effect to the super soldier serum Brodsky took, is that it not only enhanced his speed, his healing and strength it also brought out his darker personality... It takes a person's essence and enhances that as well....
First, you should have Hulk with Eric Bana, then this one. The security guard (Lou Ferrino) is the original Hulk from tv the series. Lou also played Hercules.
They knew his location because they followed the source of the drink. To have someone's blood in it, it had to have occurred in the factory because the drink is sealed. So all they had to do was track the source of the drinks production factory.

@@JeffZ1028 I hope you’re right
I would definitely take note of the way Banner's eyes turned green when he opened them after he was injected for the first time. I will bring this up in one of your later movie reactions to explain to you why, but it's a very important detail
Edit:
- The purple pants that Elizabeth got for Bruce that were giant were a nod to the iconic purple pants from the comics that Hulk always wore
- When Mr. Blue said that Blonsky would turn into an "abomination," it was a nod to his name in the comics: Abomination (that's the name of Blonsky after he turns into the giant "monster")
-Important scene to take into account for it to make sense later is the very end when Banner's eyes turn green, but he doesn't transform (last scene before credits)
- 24:01 This scene with the eyes will become very important later
-Please keep note of the "serum" that Ross and Blonsky went to get from the freezer room (This scene and the one I listed above about the eyes are quite important)
I definitely recommend watching some breakdown videos in case you were interested in all the little details that relate to the other movies in the MCU, you'd be very excited to see how they all connect as one giant universe and make you want to nerd out for the rest of the movies ;)
The hulk getting the girl's bullies was satisfying.
15:00 That Super Serum really gave Blonsky the kick.
FUN FACTOR: 11:48...that security guy Is the original Hulk from the TV series! Was actually a good series too 😎
12:13 Another Fun Fact: Mr. Harrington from Spider-Man: Homecoming made his first MCU debut in this movie as a College Student.
That final battle is still in my top 10 fights of the MCU
Oh most definitely. The final fight will always be up there
30:49...that is the classic hulk hand clap from the comics!
Dude what about jack kirby
@@michaeljosephjackson2364 *Almost every

fun fact person that Bruce gives the pizza to the security is Lou Ferrgino he also done the voice of hulk in this movie
Nice. This is the true Hulk the comic book fans know. After this movie, he's watered down, bigtime. This is a great movie. Hope you like it.
Facts
@@reynaldolorenzo8409no movie hulk has the ferocity of this one
@@JaucrispyTv 2012 did, I don’t know what movie you watched or if you watched it with your eyes closed.
let’s not forget him being knocked out by both tony and thanos and struggling with a giant wolf, and getting pushed by a car in his smart hulk form
(At 30:50) the look of your jaw dropped face when you see Hulk perform a thunderclap… priceless.
29:17 don't know if anyone has played hulk ultimate destruction, but this right here got my whole family hype 😂
This was filmed around Toronto.. Back when it was I went to an Aerosmith concert and Ed Norton and Liv Tyler were there in between shooting.
Agreed.
Why do you write like a child?
I like the Incredible hulk in the Avengers even if it did not make total sense that he was working with the team. But this movie is better than most people say it is. Abomination and the hulk really get shafted after the 1st Avengers movie. I know Abomination was not in the MCU after this until much later. But this movie is closer to the comics than any other. it is a good movie. I just want to see more of Hulk trashing everything. More Hulk smash!!
@@carlpeterson8182 I never caught that Betty did the calm hand gesture with Bruce in the cave and they brought it back in age of Ultron
That Jiu Jitsu instructor is an absolute LEGEND (the whole Gracie family is). Rickson Gracie.
Also, the guy he delivered the Pizza too, that's Lou Ferigno, the original Hulk from the TV series.
12:13 Mr. Harrington
This movie is criminally underated...this is the Hulk which gives me chill 🔥..he is the real hulk
The best part of your reaction was seeing your faces light up with pure joy like you just tasted ice cream for the very first time. Priceless. Thanks for the reaction!😄
The Hulk TV show was actually in the 1980s, also Dr Ross's real life father is Aerosmith lead singers daughter
And Red She Hulk.
(At 22:07) Banner is Mr. Green. Dr. Samuel Sterns is Mr. Blue. But later on he does become the villain known as "The Leader"
As strong as The Hulk is, The Leader is just as intelligent.
He is coming back in Captain America: New World Order.
And Mark Ruffalo was the the director's first choice and the MCU wanted Ed
Wasn't Ed the one that wanted hulk to take a darker route?
Your face when you saw Tony Stark, AKA Ironman in the end credit scene just makes want to watch every reaction to see your face at the end credits of every movie. You’re in for a surprise!
This movie is criminally underrated.
The flashbacks in the lab are callbacks to the original series pilot episode and the TV opening.
Fun fact, the security guard he just handed the pizza to is the original hulk from the 70s or 80s tv show
12:13 Mr. Harrington
I don’t know if you noticed, but in the factory when he first turns into the hulk and they throw the smoke bomb at him, you can hear Hulk say “leave me alone”
This movie was the black sheep of the MCU for a good long while, but it is fully canon even if they did change actors for Bruce Banner.
Few things I noticed when I watched this movie for the first time:
Stark Industries
SHIELD
Tony Stark
Nick Fury mentioned in the opening credits.
Y'all never seen Marvel Superheroes Squad
Just so you guys know: Rio de Janeiro and Guatemala are 6500 kilometers away from each other
Which means Hulk can run over 4000 miles in one night
Best, most accurate Hulk as of yet. This one is the rawest one. And Tim Roth did a great job. 0:22- Wait, like the actress from "Fired Up" Shoshana Bush!!!
16:09 look at them faces man.
THAT is what The Hulk should bring out in people who see him.
Complete awe and terror at how ridiculously strong he is.
Fury actually classifies Hulk as a force of nature. Something that isn't controlled, but could, hopefully, be directed.
RIP William Hurt. You will be 3rd loved actor that will be missed from the MCU.
The person playing the security guard is lue frigno, the bodybuilder who is the original incredible hulk from the television show!!
12:13 Mr. Harrington
Soo glad to see y'all react to an OG Marvel movie, they should of kept Ed Norton as the Hulk
Edward Norton is a comic head. When the MCU wanted to turn The Hulk into basically comic relief, he was out.
That's The Thunder Clap one of Hulk's signatures moves
The security man that Bruce speaks to is Lou Ferrigno, he's a body builder who played the original Hulk in 1978.
12:13 Mr. Harrington
Edward Norton is a phenomenal actor, it’s a real shame they couldn’t agree terms for him to continue as the Hulk/Banner.
This is the Hulk we know and love
Not the Avengers' pet/comic relief
I just got back from a trip to NYC for a David Bowie Convention. Fortunately, we had sane taxi drivers who could also accommodate my walker.
"LEAVE HULK ALONE!!!"
Lou Feringo (the huge security guard) played Hulk (live action 80s), then voiced him here and in the 90s cartoon series.
The security guard when he delivered pizza was the actor who played HULK in the 1970s.
12:13 Fun Fact: Mr. Harrington from Spider-Man: Homecoming made his first MCU debut in this movie as a College Student.
That right there is one of The Hulk greatest enemies in the comics THE ABOMINATION
The previous Hulk (starring Eric Bana) isn't labeled MCU but the story was the prequel of this. I was gonna suggest to watch that one also, but too late now 😂😂😂
33:01 was me and my friend's reaction when I watched this movie in theater 😁
Fun fact in the scenes in the factory you can hear the hulk saying leave me alone it’s very quiet and I believe most people did miss because I did 😂
When you guys get to it, when they mentioned the super soldier serum that they injected him with is from Captain America!
Hey,
I like the little cameo of Lou Ferrigno as watchman in the univerisity 😄 He played the Hulk in the 70s TV show.
Bad idea 😂
12:13 Mr. Harrington
💯💯💯💯💯💯 That's why I've been done with the M-She-U
Bruce Banner has Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) which is a real condition where one develops another personality top cope with something. Bruce got it because his father abused him as a child. When the gamma experiment happened, his alternate personality took the form of Hulk. Because of this, Hulk is a completely different person from Bruce, not just a branch off from Bruce.
That would mean Thaddeus Ross does not have DID, when he becomes Red Hulk.
@@ricardoortiz4870 Yes, he doesn't.
if only they gave hulk this kind of fight scene to hulk in the other MCU movies
Disney’s gone soft.
Man, they don't even know who the Hulk is? They're going to love this Infinity Saga. I will be hanging out through that.
That's one of his signature moves the thunder clap
This is my fav hulk movie , I remember when i first seen this and i seen the security guard i was like (oh sh*t the original hulk Lou ferrigno ) , the tv series that he was on is really good
The Security guy is Lou Ferrigno a body builder who played Hulk in the TV series in the 1980s
Did You Know That in the end,Tony stark came to genaral ross and said "We are making a team" Actually Tony stark was talking about the villain (abomination).BCZ Ross have that villain in a secret cage❤.
Fact : In a initial script The 1st avengers movie's Villain was going to be Hulk😅.Then the plan was dropped.
Remember what Abraham Erskine once said.
First, you should have Hulk with Eric Bana, then this one. The security guard (Lou Ferrino) is the original Hulk from tv the series. Lou also played Hercules.
One of my favorite Hulk movies ,hell I like them all.
The monster Blonsky turns into is literally called The Abomination. I think it fits.
They knew his location because they followed the source of the drink. To have someone's blood in it, it had to have occurred in the factory because the drink is sealed. So all they had to do was track the source of the drinks production factory.
