Never had an issue with the stock pipes, but I’ll definitely try out the silicone trick. Any ideas on fixing the rivet leaks would be appreciated. Btw , my bike runs excellent and jetting is pretty spot on. Thanks in advance for your response.

    Is HT silicone long term resistent? I fixed my leaking at my ktm tpi like in your video and it works perfect since 30 hrs. That soft silicone won't hurt your engine. Even on a 2 stroke especially since it is on the exhaust side everything is being blown outward away from the engine and not toward the engine.

    Exhaust was leaking at the head, removed it and resealed it with high temp silicone, now my idle speed is way higher that it was previously for the same air screw position. Is this normal? have had to close it in quite a bit, in order to get the idle speed back to where it was previously?

    • @chaz_bl3731
      @chaz_bl3731 3 роки тому +1

      Your idle will need readjusting because when the exhaust was leaking it caused a lean condition and the carb would have been adjusted to compensate so the bike would idle before , now the leak is fixed the engine runs differently so previous idle settings do not work

      @lorettacaputo6997 3 роки тому

      @@chaz_bl3731 I have a polaris 2 stroke that was leaking oil from the exhaust port to the first exhaust pipe. I sealed the connection with high temp sealant, but now I could not get the motor to start up and idle correctly. I fooled with the idle slide screw on the makuni carb. I presume that this is just a need to adjust the air mixture screw until I can get the motor to start again and then adjust the air slide screw....correct?

    Will exhaust leaks ever make a sound like piston knocking?

      Push your hand against the colder side of the pipe while the noise is present. If the sound stops then it probably can :)

    Can you ride your dirt bike temporarily until you get it fixed? Or no? Bad idea?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  5 років тому +3

      It depends on how major your problem is but if you're ever in doubt, err on the side of caution to protect yourself and your bike. If it's just an exhaust leak like in this video, you won't cause any major problems by riding it but it should be a pretty quick fix so just taking care of it would be the best way to go.
      Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
