What I absolutely love about this scene is that he was fully prepared to accept her answer. He didn't get angry or verbally abusive. He didn't try to convince her to give him a chance. Every person could learn how to take rejection this well.
I hope he figures out how Penelope has loved him from the jump.

I mean everyone has love confessions on this show the other characters had them in season 1 and season 2....and I don't even think this was Colin's official love confession exactly because he didn't actually say the word love he just said that he had feelings...
so yes they definitely need their love confessions to each other and if Penelope's is around the time that she has to let Colin know that she is LW maybe that might be the best time for her to state her love confession because she can mention that her love for him was why she wrote what she did about Marina....
because Marina was only using Colin to provide for her baby, she didn't love Colin, Marina never loved Colin like the way Penelope has always loved him ever sinse he fell off of his horse and fell into the mud!

The way Colin figured out his feelings and DID NOT FIGHT IT. He confessed, he poured his heart out, he risked it, he was honest. Best. Confession. Ever! So excited for part 2!

People keep saying Colin is weak or passive but let's be real... Simon didn't want to marry Daphne and was even willing to be killed to not marry her. Anthony was willing to go along and marry the sister Edwina that he didn't even care for because Kate pushed him to do so till the Queen was like "holup"
Colin OTOH is like "I'm about to storm into this ballroom , steal a dance from Pen and stop this proposal from happening... I'm chasing a carriage on foot to go after her... i'm declaring my feelings right TF NOW..." That man knows what he wants and went for it ASAP. I love that action.
And what's funniest is that from the photos of episode 5, you can see him rolling the suitcases to the new house he bought for him and Pen to live in after the wedding. Absolute legend 😂 he's so unhinged and I live for it.

TRUTH. Like everyone acts like Daphne/Simon and Kanthony are way better. Man Daphne/Simon had issues, they are a great couple but they have issues. Same with Anthony and Kate. Colin went for what he wanted (almost) as soon as he figured it out. It's hot af to me to be pursued by a guy that know what he wants, and that want is Pen.
@@NinjaDimesDaphne /simon was too dragged out, his daddy issues got in the way for far too many episodes it was frustrating to watch actually. I loveee their romance but I thought it was weak of him to still let his father come between them, letting his father rule his life even after death is crazy 😂 I understood the harsh childhood but to live a happy life and forget about the miserable old goat would be far better revenge. Same with antony /kate he should never of proposed in the first place, it didn’t make any sense and they kept going back and forth if their feelings like it’s not the end of the world if he just chose the sister instead people would move on, it’s not like it was a forbidden romance or anything there’s been many courtships that switch around all the time. After the proposal I rolled my eyes and then even after the wedding day she continued to want to go home again when they are free to marry like OMG guys. The end was very cute tho

This is the best scene of the whole season so far. Colin on his knees, vulnerable and passionate. Finally being his true self. The chemistry is INSANE. The YEARNING.

Yes!! And from the interviews they really worked together on the characters and the scenes. She shared that they would send each other different forms of inspiration ( scenes and storylines from other shows). I appreciate, so much, their care for their roles and for us as the audience.
This is the most romantic and sensual scene of the show of all three seasons. Loved every part of that carriage scene ❤

It was so cute she blinking her eyes in pure innocence like did I hear correctly 😂😂
I laugh everytime - there is still some annoyance left in her voice and her brain is literally like, "Wtf did he just say?!" because in no world did she believe this to be a possibility. 😄 Almost like when someone says something to distract you from an argument and you're not willing to stop arguing just yet.
There are hundreds of A+ micro expressions in this scene and so many more from all the actors across this season. Some of my favorite moments in these four episodes so far are just little eye-widenings done by Cressida or Portia or Colin, etc.
Edited to add: Two of my other favorites in this scene are the tiny flash of terror in her eyes right after he says “But I do mean it” and the tiny flash of pure pure innocent surprise when what he is doing makes her reach out and grab him.

this scene tops anything ive seen on bridgerton--its more powerful because we really know the characters
All the times Penelope pined for and gazed at Colin in secret, feeling the way she felt for him for years.This part, I believe really put her dream man into reality. When he said he felt the same for her, the look on her face and the disbelief in her eyes of a manifestation FINALLY coming true. I know her heart was in her stomach.
In the book he tells her about he knew her feelings for him during all the years... He just respect her friendship and never want to hurt her doing irresponsible movements.
Best scene of any season yet.

OMG, I thought I was the only one who could not stop backing up to that look. The first time I saw it, I paused on it and it hit me in the stomach in the best way. That was the look of a man who realized that he was finally, and truly, home. In that moment when she ran her hand through his hair, everything in his world, righted itself. THIS is how GOOD love stories and romances are SUPPOSED to make you feel. Any other season of this show will never surpass this one. Well played, Nicola and Luke, well played.

It seems that all of the characters in Bridgerton - except for these two - are in denial of their feelings. I love Colins sensitivity and light humour and how he never hides his feelings unlike Simon and Anthony. There is no game playing with Colin and I love it. Ok this wasn't exactly a love confession but it was still beautiful. I am so glad to have lovely Colin back
Given Benedict seems to have some of Colin's sensitivity himself (as opposed to the books apparently), it will be very interesting when Sophie comes onto the scene :)

Same for me. Both Simon and Anthony's confessions came from what seemed like pain and agony. It was lowkey angry, like they had to fight againts their own mind. Here, it's actually romantic imo

Omg, the tears in his eyes and the line delivery have made this my favorite onscreen love confession ever. The way he falters before he looks up at her and says, "What if I did have feelings for you?" The obvious nerves. The delivery of: "A feeling I cannot...will not...do not WANT to give up." SO swoony. I thought nothing could top Colin Firth in P&P for me but this may actually have done so.

Give me everything tonight! For all we know we might not get tomorrow! Love this song and put into it the show! I love the lighting in the carriage on them. Colin is in warm light to show he is full on confessing his love to her on his knees. While Penelope is half in cold blue light to show she was trying to end her feelings for him entirely but yet the other half in warm light in the love she still has for him finally becoming reality. A symbol of their feelings in the filmography is so well done. I cannot wait for the rest of the season. Amazing actress & actor. Season 1 & 2 is their trench being dug up and Season 3 is laying the pipe. As Queen Charlotte has said, “Brava. 👏” Thanks for uploading. 🧡🧡🧡

I made a huge mistake, cause I wanted the see the full season in one piece, but 3 days ago I watched this scene, and couldnt help myself ...and read the book, and realized that the book is soooo goood, but sooo different (fe: the cause of the carriage scene, and of course others) that I have to wait weeks to watch the series...again. But omg, this duo is the best in the Bridgrton series. And now i'm crying like a baby, cause I love this chemistry sooo much, and omgomgomg..

Did you notice that when Colin start kiss Pen and make sound like “mm”. I love this detail bc it means how much he admires and want her. And their chemistry kill me. I love this couple more more than previous seasons. Most people stand by Kate and Antony and love their relationship but for me the best couple the whole show is Polin❤ When I read a book I wish that director shoot this scenes exact same way like book. But it is so good as well.

The Colin we were introduced to at the beginning of season 1 popped out here, his true self. Unapologetically feeling and genuine Colin. The man who wastes no time to declare himself when he is sure he feels more than he can explain.
My good man feels lovelorn for a few weeks and jumps straight into action when he realizes he could lose her lol 😄 He puts his heart out there, completely oblivious of the fact that his chances of her acceptance of his declaration are through the roof.
He readily risks it ALL, damning the consequences. That is one thing I love about this season… Colin quickly renounced his rakish facade and reverted to the warm, sensitive, and charming man he truly is, the MOMENT he found what he’d been desperately looking for (intimacy with meaning), in his best friend who had been right in front of him the entire time.
Warm sensitive and charming are the exact words to describe him…..
He craved intimacy with emotional connection as well. He couldn’t find that with his prostitutes and other women. He found it with Pen, his best friend. And yes she was right there in front of him the whole time and he was so oblivious to her feelings for him…..

I would skip them during season 1and2 but made the mistake of following them this season. So, I am so sorry but I think they might continue onto next season.
There were just as many plot lines in season one. All three main pairs got between 34 and 36 minutes of “moments” with each other in their respective first four episodes.
@@Cab1726 Thank you for the truth, and I quite enjoy all the side plot lines this season. Featheringtons provide comedic relief, and the Mondrich show a family who is foreign to this way of life adapt and thrive, I don't know how thats unappealing it provides a new point of view to this lifestyle.
@@Bsiobloom It’s kind of crazy to me for people to keep saying this about there being so many more side plots this year when we always spend hours every season watching Benedict, for instance, do nothing with time that could be “better” spent on the main couple. Season one had a dude running boxing matches, a guy gambling away his family’s fortune, murderous bookies, a teenager teaming up with a queen to gossip about a gossip columnist, a viscount sleeping with then not sleeping with then sleeping with then not sleeping with an opera singer, an artist going to orgies and dating a seamstress, a girl hiding her pregnancy and trying to entrap a man in marriage, should I keep going?
And just a few of the things in season two: Cousin Jack Featherington’s ruby mines (and courting Cressida, and romancing Portia, and being engaged to Prudence), Colin still pining for Marina and visiting her, Will’s struggling bar, Benedict at art school, Eloise and Theo, Eloise and her mom, Eloise and the Queen, Eloise and Pen, Pen and Madame Delacroix.
It’s an ensemble show! Francesca wasn’t active in previous seasons, but Daphne and Anthony *were*. I think people are letting the “addition” of Francesca trick their minds because they are forgetting that she stepped forward after the first two stepped back.
