Driving without insurance, even if a drunk driver hits you, you are responsible because your car is not supposed to be on the road. You cant sue period. Same with no registration. Your car stays off the roads.
You can still sue someone for injuries if they were at fault. I have watched family members of mine do it.
Don't be silly, of course you can. The problem arises when YOU were the one at fault and you have no insurance. You can drive around without insurance all day long and get hit left and right and still be able to sue the other drivers at fault... As long as you didn't cause or contribute to the accident there's no law that prohibits you from suing. Now, does that stop you from being in trouble for not having insurance, no it doesn't, you're still in trouble and will pay a penalty for not having insurance. But you're still allowed to sue.
Supreme Court says otherwise.
