Hey Cap! Loved the interview. Could you please share where I can buy the Solid Snake poster that's hung up on your room? Loads of love, sir. Will miss you at world's.
9:10 - This is something I think needs to be emphasized. There's a stark contrast between being good at playing something and being good at explaining it. A lot of people think challenger players also make great coaches for instance, because they're high elo. That may not always be the case since it's one thing to look through your own experienced lenses, but trying to explain stuff that is common sense to you, to someone who doesn't see it like that, is a whole other ball game. I remember people used to make fun of Phreak for only being diamond 4 but how many challenger players have the split second thinking to catch every little detail happening in a chaotic fight without tripping on their words the way Captainflowers does?
It’s one of the reasons I like watching Caedrel so much. Ideally you want to be a high rank (which I would say most people view as masters plus) that can also talk well and break down concepts as a color caster or create those hype moments as a play by play. It’s a mix of skill sets that seems exceptionally rare.
This. Like I'm not gonna name names cuz I don't wanna send hate but I remember seeing a coach that just....treated someone like shit. The person he was coaching merely was saying "okay, sorry, this is why I did that/my thought process" which as someone who would do that same thing due to my aspurgers....that's just our way if trying to give YOU more info so you can better explain it to us. This coach instead practically yelled at the person he was coaching for "arguing with him"
Thats so true , i been never above Dia since the Old elo system but i learned the game somuch i sometimes help friends in Masters and GM just cuz i watch somuch and inform somuch but i cant do it myself lmao
As someone who doesn't really watch or play league anymore, this content is fantastic. Loving the documentary style and interviews. These videos deserve more views!
I used to be a caster for well-known and watched German Amateur scene and ESL Poland for CS GO. It was a great time, I have so much respect for the great shoutcasters.
DongHuaP is such an unbelievably amazing journalist, he picks amazing and interesting topics and really dives deep into them. Unbelievable content, I'm curious if he will document other topics outside of league?
That moment, when Dash introduced Captainflowers after the whole interview story we just heard, i got such an adrenaline rush. I cant even imagine how incredible stressful it must be. Everything youve done, all the hard work, stress. It was all meaningless for the outside perspective. THIS is your one shot to impress the viewers. And lets be real, viewers always hate to changes, they wanna see their favourite casters.
Hey everyone! I have a Second channel now! ua-cam.com/video/rjB00NH0BBY/v-deo.html&ab_channel=DongHuaPShorts This channel is for my shorts will I'll be posting extra content from documentaries and League-based comedy skits. The first video is about Captain Flower's philosophy to success in casting! This video was started almost two months ago, I've had an amazing time learning about the ins and outs of this industry. Thank you to all my casters who participated and go check out their Twitter. Maybe you'll see them on the LCS one day!
One day my friends and I were playing custom 5v5s and 2 guys randomly joined before we started, linked us a twitch, and said they were going to shoutcast our game, it was so awesome watching it back, I hope they are doing well.
33:38 "These things might seem like 'well just do it then' problems..." Cap, explaining to fans that depression is a thing--that the Korean 'just get over it' attitude doesn't work. Mad respect for a professional who takes action to maintain their mental health.
This is why I've never doubted Flowers's ability to be a phenomenal caster. Watching an game that I'm investing in is exciting, watching when Flowers is casting is an unforgettable experience.
we love cap flowers~! He is a must great energy, awesome observation skills, great lines, and the articulated positivity, the vibe is what makes me come back and listen to his play by plays^^
This was an awesome video to watch. I’ve done extremely amateur casting with a Canadian secondary school esports association and it’s been a blast to do. Having the spotlight on shoutcasting and the different aspects of it was so great to listen to
idk if its on the game but i like dota's pro scenes more than leagues (more hype, more interesting) even though league is my main game, just cant bring myself to watch worlds for some reason also rip tobi, great shoutcaster shit human being
@@bau9894 games in pro League mostly have 80% laning phase so it's very boring to watch live, heck even highlights includes laning phase, that's why I prefer playing it than watch pro games While in Dota, pro games are very nice to watch since it's full of action, most clashes are very pleasing to watch because of skill visuals, though the game itself is very stressful to play since it has so many mechanics compare to league
My friend is doing his minor study at the moment about organizing esports events. His first big project was to host a complete LoL tournament. This was last week and he asked me to be the shoutcaster for the event. I don't think I'm that good at it but it was really fun to do for sure!
Even if it's for a moment, I'm glad you showed some of the FGC casters, they especially are doing this as a thankless job. They all hold day jobs/create content and don't get paid nearly as much as even a proving grounds caster for league of legends for the Capcom Pro Tours. Shout outs to all casters
Vocal Coaching makes all the difference (trust me, I make very odd sounds on songs) and sometimes you are having bad habits that ruin your vocal performance without acknowledging and a coach will help you pinpoint that. It's definitely worth it, if your job is vocal oriented or you need to buff your performance durability and intensity!
Awesome video! I’d recommend you to take a look at Ibai’s history. He’s by far the best LoL caster in the Spanish community. He left his caster job and became a Streamer, casting all type of things from football to balloon competitions organized by himself. He has won the “Streamer of the year” award twice and he still casts the games of his own esports team now. All of this being just 26 years old…
As someone who is just barely started casting, the whole street performer analogy is quite accurate. Most of the time is just spent looking for openings across many discord channels hoping that one of the regulars can't make it on a short notice.
I really disliked Captain Flowers when he first came to the LCS. I was like who is this new guy? I like the other casters and his name is dumb. But the man is so damn charismatic that he won me over in a matter of days and now I think his name is kinda cool and I enjoy his casting a lot.
Great video and I loved the extensive interviews. I'd love to have caster names on screen during the games or at least during champselect. I often really enjoy the cast but have no idea who I am listening to.
Cool video on the scene! I just wanted to chime in and say that I don't have an issue with you ripping a clip from my UA-cam channel for content about amazing casters, but it's kinda weird that you set the clip up to make it look like Azael is dunking on me as a caster. Especially since the clip was taken out of context where me and Flowers were just goofing. No hard feelings but it doesn't feel super great to see :(
What a unique but great idea for a video. Very enlightening from someone who works in Smash/FGC production and has many commentator frends. The rates for these league casters are pretty crazy for the semi-pro casters compared to us. It's the obvious difference in esports money levels between a huge developer supported and facilitated game like League vs. condemned to grassroots like Smash. Are the semi-pro casters exclusively League of Legends/Riot casters? Or would they be allowed to freelance to other games? FGC people are all freelance. There's no way Riot would allow CaptainFlowers to cast The International for example. In the FGC, you basically have to learn multiplle games to be able to cast them and while fghting games are all the same genre, there's a of details that have to be learned between each game. Most all FGC commentators have to supplement their commentary gigs with content creation and streaming. Nepotism is sadly rampant in these industries.
I haven't watched yet, but just wanna say something. You haven't lived until you've heard some fighting game casters and starcraft 2 casters. Tastosis god tier.
It is basically winning the lottery of casting. How many casting jobs are available worldwide? How many in your language or a language that u are very fluent? They had the luck to be at the right place and at the right time, who wanted to be a league caster 10y ago? Anyways i love capt flowers, he will be missed at worlds!

This guy is always so rational
Azael with his wedding pic in the b/g while Capt is just chilling with his homie skarner pic in the b/g XD
Hearing Azael talk about Flowers at the end is downright heartwarming
That Captain Flowers intro was so sick!
