"If you think Mike & The Mechanics are a bit mental, this car is right up your cul de sac..." top notch line that!! Never bought a new car and probably be a while before I do, but really enjoy the videos.
Mark, you are nuts! Your little musical/theatrical diversions have me in stitches! Thanks for making car reviews ROFL funny (and honest! BTW, where's John?)
Got the i30 201hp DCT 1.6 Turbo SR Sport Premium in Oz. and I think of it as The 'N' series, 'Lite'. Tuned for our conditions, its all independent suspension makes this a lovely car. The climate rear vents are essential for occasional rear passengers. Hyundai isn't perceived as 'sexy', but is EXTREMELY reliable! As a pilot since '57 and a Jag E Type owner in the Sixties, I'm now a 'senior' but one who wants anonymity yet a good small car that's a very good long range freeway cruiser, important when passing B Doubles (dual semi-trailers) and those massive 'Road Trains'. Big city manner & parkability round off this 'quiet achiever'.
the hyundai diesel combined mpg is 76 however in the real world and so long as you drive very carefully you will actually get 56 mpg (and I live in the countryside and don't do town work)
Iain. Yes! Love the "201hp", & I agree. Never meant to be an 'N' that's why I added 'Lite'. Over 300 rear suspension settings for Aust & I love the catlike grip! Roads from tollways, freeways, big cities, to 'endless' corrugated red dirt outback where tuning also done. Passing 'B'Double(double semi-trailers) & roadtrains need surefootedness & go! Tested MazSP25 & offered v cheaply as'17 runout, but we chose i30 on driving merits. Converted to Hyundai by our ultra reliable '04 'Getz'-only ever had 2 globes die & added 185tyres. Big cars no more, & SUV's are left in our wake.
Excellent review and spot on, probably going to be a good car, just has nothing desirable about it. Hyundai are now quite expensive in New Zealand and I'm sure the locals will take to it like shit to a blanket.
very well done video.Even for an old-fashion guy like me,I could live with the "hidden" tattoos , just because they are irrelevant to the subject.Well, it is not so easy to pick up all the words, but thanks God,there were subs(I did not know that option either)So,thanks Mark, for the wonderful video ;-)
Thr only thing boring about this car apart from others is the company's name Hyundai. Why no one said audi or bmw is boring, but they all look the same and dull to me. Just like VW, or no opel was ever spectacular, people in my country are too vain to buy a skoda or seat or dacia. Toyotas are ugly and boring, all French cars are sh*t as everyone in my country says. If I buy honda civic that would say something about my character? At least I would buy a hyundai for a reason that they are not trying to rip me off like most of other car manufacturers

Best reviews on UA-cam, concise, fun, clever, and Mike and the Mechanics. No one else has got them...

My SR arrives next week!
That's a great informative and entertaining review. Good job ladddie :)
Thanks a lot.
I have driven one as a hire car for work and I loved it. Would I buy one? Absolutely.
So it's like a VW Golf apart from being pricey, poorly equipped and commonplace. Plus 2 more years on the warranty in case it has VW reliability.

I am hoping Top Gear sign you up as one of their presenters...entertaining and informative...that is what you are.
(Another) great review. If you are in the market for one of these, online brokers have 20-25% off at the moment which makes these great value...
Yet another refreshing and good spirited approach to a car review ! Great job, boys ! Great job !
Great review. Just bought one.
Australian i30s get a warm hatch SR version with a 1.6turbo petrol with 200bhp... not quite the N but better to drive than the Mazda SP 25

Another good review: thanks a lot.
These videos are awesome. The car seems nice, too.
Awesome as always.
The only grey I don't like is the top shirt you were wearing.
So it's a car for the Vulcan in your life.
Live long & prosper.
Entertaining video. Any chance you will test the I30N hot hatch when eventually released as you seem to like this car alot in standard format.
Great stuff
Poor old Mike Rutherford, as avoided by Richard Hammond LOL

I have to turn the subtitles on with this bloke!
Come on, my native language is not english and I could even understand him
Driving position perfect? What? Mate, your left knee was totally against the front panel. And so was mine when I drove this car.

Built by robots for robots, expect to see a few on motability and the majority of the rest at Enterprise/Hertz/Thrifty etc etc....
Why aye the man from the north east
'Honest' John is boring
And you are so funny
Boring, boring, boring car. Come on Hyundai get some flair into your designs!
Boring like the Golf. Yet boring cars are getting most customers... The i30 Fastback is not boring.
what were you expecting, a Ferrari Portofino?
