Good morning, viewing and listening from Yonkers NY, great conversation this is what I would call a positive vibes, this gentleman has a positive vision and he knows his stuff, I have personally experienced what land asset can do as I have used that asset to get a bank loan to be able to build a house on the property the ownership of a piece of land will get anyone some form of recognition, all of the other’s that I have listened to speaking in and about Negril the owner of Charela Inn comes out on top. 👍🏽
I remember my first time in JA in Negril in 2011, and seeing the white ownership of the properties on the coastline. And hearing the stories of Jamaica families who owned that land from generations and sold it in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Sold PENNIES TO THE DOLLAR. It was a sad sight to behold
I applaud and appreciate all hotel owners who allow locals to have free access to beaches. I was in Negril on Friday and was so surprised and pleased that we were allowed to walk through Travellers to go to the beach. We were also allowed to park on their property. The security guard was very polite and professional. I will spend my money with these hotels that allow Jamaicans to enjoy the beaches for free. Where a fee is charged to use the bathroom, I think that's fair, because the persons who clean them have to be paid. On the other hand, if free access is given to all beaches, the hustlers should not harass tourist to buy their goods / services. I think they should have permit to be in the space and have designated areas where what they are selling can be displayed. Jamaica is one of the very few countries that allow hotels to shut out the locals from the best beaches. The government can change the laws that allow that to happen but they just don't want to. Shame on them. It's issues like these that should determine who gets votes during elections. Hats off to the hoteliers who have the interest of the locals at heart.
The funny thing about the beach story is as kids growing up in Negril we who live on the West End only used to go to the beaches on Holidays or to pick Breadfruit and Coco Plum.We love swimming and diving of the cliffs in West End. As kids we would walk the beach go in any of the few Hotels and pickup tennis balls for a game of cricket. Our hometown has changed so much. You could stopped anywhere on the beach and take a swim. I will definitely support this Business as I had made up my mind to boycott All inclusive Hotels. The Diaspora need to return and advocate for Jamaicans gaining access to our Beaches . It's criminal that access to most of our Beaches are at a cost. Who was it that said Water must not be free...are our overlords following orders...
@worldjamzradio6452 I want to go home so bad that I Google jobs at that hospital. My position is available, then I remember that I am already making a small fortune here in the US😂😂. I am building now, I pray God makes a way for me to secure that job.
I like the view from this elder about loans for Jamaican here but the government will never let that happen for us Jamaican to own beachfront properties easily
Gentrification is not just unique to Jamaica- this is a universal issue. Without investment whether internationally or locally, the person who would have invested in a property would have experienced no return on their investment “stagnant.” No one invests to see no return. International investment also has a positive impact at a macro level for obvious reasons- boosts employment, the value of other properties in surrounding areas appreciates which is beneficial to all Jamaicans, development drives productivity in other industries, and I could go on and on. Too often we hear the same narrative that the “AVERAGE” Jamaican cannot afford. What does the average Jamaican mean to you? For me, the average Jamaican is more than someone who earns minimum wage. There are plenty of Jamaicans that can afford a median home for $20M. Moreover, I would urge fellow listeners instead of complaining, strategize instead. What methods can I use to acquire said property; can I pool with others with similar interests; how can I increase my income; what investments do I have already that can be liquidated and rerouted elsewhere? The reality is, it will not get easier.
Historically, the money leaves the country. What's the point of paying the locals starvation wages? More money needs to stay in country even if it's only for investing in the education of the people as the good brother suggested education is critical. Your argument is what they teach in graduate school which is about extricating as much as you can, typical business model, and always exploitive.
@@shayscott7498 Most people can't grasp this concept. Foreign investment is more beneficial to government and Foreign investors more than it benefits the locals.

Hi I listen to this man and I can say this is the first person I listen to that’s connected to government that is pushing for the betterment of the country that I can say I truly appreciate and believe. His ideas is wonderful, I love how he is pushing for the betterment for the country and the Jamaican people. I am Jamaican born, live in Canada 🇨🇦 for the most of my life you could say my entire life and I never stop wanting wishing to move back home, the Jamaicans abroad want to come home just the violence that worries us but that happens because the people are hungry and when you’re hungry you become angry , I think as a people this can become a reality, Jamaica 🇯🇲 rise to a place where its people are the first priority and their well being is at the for front. I love your program it makes sense it delivers ideas, truth and respect for a place a home a country God bless
In search this past weekend, for hotels owned and operated by Jamaicans in Jamaica, Negril is #1 for that. Also, how awesome it is that the Chamber of Commerce there is so approachable and accessible to citizens wanting to do good for the community.
ABSOLUTELY🤔 ACTUALLY CAN SECURE LAND FOR LOW INCOME NATIVES TO THE JAMAICAN IS LET DONORS SUPPORT FAMILIES PER YEAR THESE FAMILIES CAN OPERATE OWN BUSINESS OR PROVIDE SERVICE TO TOURIST COMMUNITIES
The shacks are sufficient and allow for locals to work without high overhead. I’m surprised at all the abandoned/for sale signs in negril. I think we need more Shacks on the street selling stuff, honestly.
I would love a fruit and vegetable and park area in Negril similar to Harmony Park!! That would be marvelous! Get better WiFi there, a little bit more parking, and A new restaurant where “curry goat daily” was and it would really be Heaven on Earth!
I was driving through Negril the other day and I was having an epiphany on the whole area. The strip was so dark and gloomy with little lights here and there from establishments, it looks even worse when it rains as it highlights the potholes and water puddles along the road ways. As much as it is nice and still my home the appeal is being lost with the lack of improvements or even maintenance. Oh that Park has been a sore point for me as I remember when the Govt back in the days blocked it all up when it was our place to go and play as kids.
Small street vendors must not be allowed to erect huts or shacks along the street. These unsightly looking structures need to be illegal. The local government and non governmental organizations need to develop a structure that the street vendors must purchase at minimal price. Such structural change will add value to the community. Chamber of Commerce please pay attention!!!!
I Need a spot please ust half acre of land, but no one to help me find it. I am in love with the island born to Jamaican parents. If any viewers know of anyone selling land for a reasonable price. Please let me know by responding to this comment.
That's interesting because when I visit the websites (from the US) there isn't much available. Can you recommend a website? I'll be in JA this summer and will be staying at either your family's property or the good gentleman you interviewed. I've just decided that I'm only staying at properties owned and operated by Jamaicans. I really don't like the all inclusive model anyways.@@Throp
That's how it's meant to be land is being hoarded and misused land ownership and home ownership for everyone will never happen alot land is owned by the dead and family member a fight over it and we john public can't use it we need to switch to competing cooperative ownership where the co-op owns the land and build the homes and the residents own the cooperative and pay rent(which doesn't go into the land lord pocket but goes into community development
Do what other cultures do. Get together and form a partnership people with of similar interest and buy property. We are too individualistic which gets us nowhere fast.
Throp do you know a social media site or informal land sale agent that features property for sale in Negril? I know realtor sites sells property for whopping amounts that you cant compete with. We need an informal non realtor listing where prices are still reasonable near the 6 mile beach?
Owning a home in Jamaica should not be a necessity but an option. I have noticed over the years that when it comes to housing people both governments are informally ignorant. They should know that in no country every citizen can own a home. To balance the houssing problem they have to build multi dwelling rental apartments for middle and low income workers. These should be built in cities and towns. Right now there is a housing problem. Every where you go in Jamaica you hear people asking for room to rent. This i effects young professonals mostly. Most of them just left college with student fee and other expences who would like to rent an appartment in a Housing Trust ,or prvate sector rental apartment compex. Why stress them out to find a place to live. The PNP and THe JLP are stuck in the pass when it comes to housing When will they realise that home ownership and muliti rentsls go hand in hand?

No internet where u were ?...lol
Big up Mr. Grizzle! he’s absolutely the best and one of the only ones holding on to the old value of negril.
How easy is it to find lands for sale in Negril? Obviously people overseas have a hard time finding these lands.
Not that difficult at all
I am really happy that there is access to proper health care in the Nigril area now it represents improvement.
It definitely does
Big up Omega Medical Hospital
@worldjamzradio6452 I want to go home so bad that I Google jobs at that hospital. My position is available, then I remember that I am already making a small fortune here in the US😂😂. I am building now, I pray God makes a way for me to secure that job.
More like emergency care. I would not say proper. They are a bandaid.

Great interview. I would love to hear about how he acquired more using his title.
Great piece Winthrop!!! Mr. Grizzle is the greatest and giving sound advice. I’m going to return one day and definitely buy some land. Love the place🇯🇲🥰
Thanks so much! Nice to hear from you :)
Thank you Throp🎉🎉
You’re welcome!
I stayed at that Inn. It is very nice as well as the staff
Hi
I listen to this man and I can say this is the first person I listen to that’s connected to government that is pushing for the betterment of the country that I can say I truly appreciate and believe. His ideas is wonderful, I love how he is pushing for the betterment for the country and the Jamaican people. I think he would make a good priminister for the country, what he speaks of for one area is what’s needed in the whole island, he should really consider and run for priminister.
He is not connected to government. Hotel owner and ex president of negril chamber of commerce.
He is not a politician. U have it wrong.
I thought he was Oliver Samuels 😊
Very good interview. U can tell mr grizzle loves his country and its people.
thanks so much
In search this past weekend, for hotels owned and operated by Jamaicans in Jamaica, Negril is #1 for that. Also, how awesome it is that the Chamber of Commerce there is so approachable and accessible to citizens wanting to do good for the community.
Good morning I miss your live watching your video this interview very informative Keep up the good work Throp. Thank you
thank you so much!

🖤💚💛 One love BROTHER.
Am so proud of of u mr
I love Charela Inn❤
awesome place!
We need proper by laws governing local businesses. Look at the shacks on the side of the road going into negril
That adds to the laid back vibe of Negril….
The shacks are sufficient and allow for locals to work without high overhead. I’m surprised at all the abandoned/for sale signs in negril. I think we need more Shacks on the street selling stuff, honestly.
The beaches in Bermuda are open to all and no one hastling you.
Love Bermuda, and the people are so polite and helpful.
@@shayscott7498it way too expensive. Milk is $10..00 for a little box.
Ordinary citizens can't buy houses. People there work 3 jobs to get by.
I would love a fruit and vegetable and park area in Negril similar to Harmony Park!! That would be marvelous! Get better WiFi there, a little bit more parking, and A new restaurant where “curry goat daily” was and it would really be Heaven on Earth!
Negril needs a beautification plan now
Totally agree
I was driving through Negril the other day and I was having an epiphany on the whole area. The strip was so dark and gloomy with little lights here and there from establishments, it looks even worse when it rains as it highlights the potholes and water puddles along the road ways. As much as it is nice and still my home the appeal is being lost with the lack of improvements or even maintenance. Oh that Park has been a sore point for me as I remember when the Govt back in the days blocked it all up when it was our place to go and play as kids.
True and the property price is going to go sky high
Throp as always your content is golden
I AGREE. ALSO, WE KEEP THE BEACH PUBLIC, NO MORE HOTELS!! KEEP OUT THE FOREIGNERS!!
Yes he is so right about owning real estate
Small street vendors must not be allowed to erect huts or shacks along the street. These unsightly looking structures need to be illegal. The local government and non governmental organizations need to develop a structure that the street vendors must purchase at minimal price.
Such structural change will add value to the community.
Chamber of Commerce please pay attention!!!!
I Need a spot please ust half acre of land, but no one to help me find it. I am in love with the island born to Jamaican parents. If any viewers know of anyone selling land for a reasonable price. Please let me know by responding to this comment.
My Mother in law have in Negril.
Tons of land and apartments for sale in Negril
That's interesting because when I visit the websites (from the US) there isn't much available. Can you recommend a website? I'll be in JA this summer and will be staying at either your family's property or the good gentleman you interviewed. I've just decided that I'm only staying at properties owned and operated by Jamaicans. I really don't like the all inclusive model anyways.@@Throp
I am interested in owning a piece of land or owned a home there but it's so hard 😫
@@beverleymcghie787 that's what cooperatives do
@@hughporter2541 Exactly
But not impossible
Throp do you know a social media site or informal land sale agent that features property for sale in Negril? I know realtor sites sells property for whopping amounts that you cant compete with. We need an informal non realtor listing where prices are still reasonable near the 6 mile beach?
Use google man.
@@NATURALMYSTICMK couldn't find anything on it too many things old sites and info unreliable bec not updated.
How do you find land for sale in negril? The realtors in Jamaica are so greedy that i bought an overpriced house but would love land as well
Negril is very compact but friendly
This is one reason I will never go to an all inclusive resort in Jamaica not run by a Jamaican that is.
You can’t go wrong with Charela
Well said sir
i thought this was Oliver Samuels lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
is there any contacts for land sale in area? would be nice to have
I thought it was oliver at first 😊
Always say we need a Hospital and and good lower level school.
Totally
Thought it was Oliver Samuels....damn
Reall like this old man.
He is solid
Jamaica should set up areas where foreign investors can't buy.
All beach areas should be public you cannot own mother nature.
Rising tide lifts all.
By how much
