Perhaps the most beautiful music ever written by the "General of the Musicians" or anyone. Oh how I pity those who have never heard the last quartets and this movement.
I am fascinated about this movement. Beethoven could show how sad he was his whole life through this music . The difference between this and other romantic composers is that how serious this sounds, while many others sound so melodramatic. Beethoven, an incredible genius.
Yes, that is what so special about these late Beethoven slow movements.. complete serious heartfelt feeling yet with no histrionics or bombast. They are just perfect. You said it perfectly, also.
Makes you wonder the things Beethoven struggled with and held inside to be able to create such beauty. It's as if his creations are so unimaginable that they challenge existence itself. Words don't even really do it justice. I can only hope to be one percent of what he was. That would be more than enough to leave the world in peace
The music that i love most than others...its so simply expressive but then explode with style in a unique and most beautiful way...such a blessing from the maestro
The passage after the return to the tonic major might be the prettiest Beethoven ever wrote, which would in turn make it one of the prettiest passages of music ever written.
If stuck in an island with choice for just one piece of music for life, any slow movement of L v B last string quartets would do me fine. Lovely sound here in the hangar, it lets sound run, amply. Bravo.
I'm deeply impressed by these musicians' sensitivity and recollection. Should I dare say I (subjectively) prefer their performance to the ones of the Alban Berg Quartet and even the Végh Quartet?!! (Acoustics in such a large shed must be very particular.)
Il débutait ses concerts, dans ses dernières années,par les 2 mouvements centraux de cette oeuvre (Josef Kerman : les quatuors de Beethoven-editions du seuil)
It's a big open space, but not clear that it's a hangar for airplanes. Looks like just a large convention hall. Look at the doors in the background. That's what you'll see at a convention center.
Beethoven's farewell to the world. The world's eternal gratitude.
Sublime. Al lado de Beethoven el resto sólo fueron grandes músicos. Beethoven jugó otra liga. Te echamos mucho de menos, maestro. Miguel Ángel. Spain.

And we should pity those who simply can't relate or understand the musical philosophy Beethoven is teaching us.
Even the big airplane hangar is not large enough to contain the soul of this slow movement.
Passive aggressively " Hangar not Airplane hangar" haha im a butt

Superb.....Beethoven ... rest in piece...we are trying to comprehend you after 250 years..... we still trying
What a beautiful presentation of this marvelous movement

Beautifully spoken.

Excellent, was brought here from a Mahler 3rd Symphony, 6th Movement link, Beethoven & Mahler forever!
It is a lovely connection :)

Shivers down to my spine... Oh... We hear you Beethoven.
Such a beautiful and apt comment from Carlos Bas.
The harmonic progression near the end is one of Beethoven's most poignant

Alban Berg quartet seems to me so much overrated.
Very sad
Goodbye Friedemann. We are sure we will miss you.

ett fantastiskt meddelande från ett vidsynt kosmos till en trångsynt mänsklighet...
No sé que dos analfabetos pueden dar un NO me gusta a ésta autentica joya.
yes - sensitivity and beauty isn't for everyone
cool !!!
Could someone tell me: was this planned as a valediction performance for Friedemann Weigle?
@Spanglefeather Why are you asking that? Are you just curious?
Chum Lee?

@Spanglefeather The place is of no importance, the music is.
