It's kinda disappointing how delusional Dan is, that he ignores the fact that he fought a terrible version of Diego and that Lopes was at a huge disadvantage facing Ige himself; because Diego had all the pressure and turmoil of fightweek and Dan did not, he did cut weight and Ige did not, he had a 1-week camp while Ige was training for months preparing for a fight that month,... the list goes on and on. In a possible rematch Ige gets obliterated by Lopes. But either way I lost a lot of respect for Ige after this interview, what a lack of self awareness and wimp attitude for such a tough and good dude
Couldn't agree more. The fans and Ige himself are making it seem like he came off the couch, but he was already months into a training camp and ready to go. Didn't have to cut weight, had no pressure, got a huge pay bump by the UFC, and had nothing to lose and everything to gain. His fight with Diego was not some heroic, badass warrior mentality, it was just a way for Ige's stock to rise and get more money. If Ige had nothing to gain from his fight with Diego, he would not have taken it.
