What Beta is is in her name, Lupus in fantasy is a term used related to werewolves and wolves in general, in real life Lupus is an autoimmune disease. Combining the two tells you what she is, an evil wearwolf that causes you pain and suffering. Of course she is more than that as she is capable of learning and forming friendships since coming to the new world, but as Yuri said, she is a sadist that loves to see innocent people suffer so don't let her looks fool you, she will eat you alive.

It wasn't Enri's compliment of Nabe that "won her over." It was when she said she was beautiful like Lupusregina, another beautiful person she knows. Nabe was happy because her fellow battlemaid was complimented, not herself.

I always find it funny how surprised you get, when NPCs of Nazarik talk about "only 41 perfect beeings". When ths obviously referes to the 41 Members of the guild of Ainz Ooal Gown. Those that they usually refer to as the supreme beings. The ones that made them. You know Momonga and his pals.

I love how in Overlord even the side characters that barely ever meet the main cast have often much more backstory than main characters in other isekai anime.
My favourite is definitely Evileye.
There is even an entire bonus novel about an alternative universe, where Ainz got transported to this world without Nazarrick and a few hundred years earlier where he meets Evileye just after she became vampire and they become adventurers together even founding the New Ainz Ool Gown down the line.
Out of any character in the series, that version of Evileye was certainly the closest person to Ainz.

enri gained levels in the sergeant/commander classes from using the horn/summoning the goblins and commanding them for so long, - one of the main reason she could subjugate the ogres and why she could issue commands to the goblins in last episode, causing em to duck down when she shouted to do so.

16:30 Ainz gave her 2 horns in episode 3 of season 1. She blew one of the horns early on to help protect her village, but has kept the second in reserve because there has been nothing dangerous enough to warrant using it, and because caring for and providing the upkeep to her goblins is a big burden and responsibility

Her being unable to leave the 8th floor does not affect this position, or rather, this position does not affect her responsibilities on the 8th floor as that is a much higher priority for Nazarick. Thus, Yuri Alpha was appointed as DEPUTY leader of the Pleiades as Ainz said in season 2.

6:37 The maids are actually on the weaker side of Nazarick, with levels in the low 60s. Of course that's still way higher than nearly everyone in the new world, but it does go to show how strong Evileye from last season really is. And yes, those are ears under her hat. All the Pleiades are non-humans. Lupusregina Beta is a werewolf. As for the others we've seen, Yuri is a dullahan, CZ is an android, Solution is a slime, Narbarel is a shapeshifter, and Entoma is an insect.
Oh, and remember that off-hand comment Beta made in the big battle at the end of the second season, where she mentioned the human village she's working at? Here's the payoff for that.
CZ is like lowest level out of all of the battlemaids, but could probably defeat all of em in a 1v1

That is the power of range. Most other maids have medium to melee range attacks with Nabe probably being able to match CZ's range. Then again she has a sniper riffle, so probably not.
@@ODDnanreffrom what i remember CZ delta comes from an expansion set in late cycles of yggdrasile - when they added a bunch of sci-fi stuff to it, most of the gear from that expansion was fairly overpowered for what it was where it would enable low level ppl compete with like midtier players.
but most of the boni the stuff gave was like hardcut so actual proper high tier players had little use for any of it can think of it akin to like death knight expansion in WoW when first came out - immediately lv60 or so, yeah? kinda like that.
despite being a sniper, CZ has very high physical att and agility. for all intent and purposes the way she is set up makes it look like she is a glasscannon.

For instance, who was Demiurge referring to at the end of Season 2 when he instructed members of Nazarick not to kill a certain individual that wasn't shown? If you pay attention, it should be pretty obvious, but if you are not very good remembering things, it may take you longer to figure out.

I will point out why Ainz as Momon didn't spoke to mage in room where Enri was sitting and why he panicked when he said her name. It wasn't because he shouldn't know her name(after all He could say that alchemist boy told him about her) He panicked because she heard his voice as Ainz, so he thought that she may recognize him by voice in that situation and blow his cover as Momon. That's why he didn't answer her questions and send Nabe to speak with her and didn't do it himself

Also, Yuri Alpha is a dullahan, Lupusregina Beta is a werewolf, Narberal Gamma is a doppelganger (she actually looks like Pandora's actor, but she is always shapeshifted into the form we see, which is her only shapeshift form), Solution Epsilon is a predator slime (hence the man eating gazongas), CZ Delta is an automaton, and Entoma Zeta is an arachnoid.
So... for some reason, a lot of people miss what's going on when Enri was in E-Rantel...

Yuri is a monk, Lupu is a cleric (the better to prolong her victim's torment), Narberal is a battle mage, specializing in combat spells, Shizu is a gunslinger, Solution is an assassin, and entoma is a talisman caster with a focus on bugs. You also missed Aureole Omega, a shrine maiden (presumably a divine caster of some sort), and the true leader of the Pleiades.

As the receptionist of the guild explained to enri... You can post a quest... which the kingdom will subsidize but the requester has to pay up the rest... The cost is calculated by the guild... in this case say The quest is $1000, the kingdom pays $600 but the requester has to pay up the other $400... and probably the guild gets a cut of that for operation costs leaving say $900 for the adventurers... ammounts are just a radom guess...

On my side, I've read the novel and the manga for re:monster, but while episode 1 felt a little rushed, it wasn't that bad. The name of the new episode however makes me fear that it will be incredibly rushed, so we'll have to wait and see if the anime adaptation is a complete miss or if it'll be alright.
I've been burned too many times by bad adaptions, so I'm trying to keep my expectations to the minimum.
7:25 the funny thing is, Ennri probably _could_ snap a barghest’s neck with her hands if she tried. Levels are a thing in the New World and Ms. Emmott has been power leveling because she summoned the goblins and commanded them.
You actually see her use her voice to give commands that others feel compelled to follow-kinda like Demiurge (but much weaker).
She’s picked up some elite classes because she’s been acting as a leader for a goblin war band. So, she’s a bit stronger than even some adventurers of a similar level to her.
If you remember season 2, Demiurge used his ability to control Lizardmen with his voice.
Now in Season 3, we see Enri, a Completely Normal, the most normal and common village girl use her voice to command Goblins and scare ogres.
Huh, it’s as if she’s gotten stronger… Not like we see her effortlessly carrying bodies or breaking knives with ease to imply she’s not normal anymore, do we?

Lupusregina・β: level 59 Werewolf battle cleric (focus on healing magic)

To put that into perspective: Gazef Stronoff, the strongest human in the Re-Estize Kingdom, should be somewhere around level 30 to 35. (Of course, denizens of the New World do not have any official levels assigned, so one has to gauge how they fare against foes that did have a level in YGGDRASIL.)
And remember, as a rule of thumb: unless specifically otherwise stated, _Dungeons & Dragons_ is a good orientation as to on what rules the New World operates.

Can't wait for you to get to the pay off episode about the village. It's one of my favorite episodes since it always makes me laugh.
Just remember three things. Erni is now a village chief. She can forcibly command the goblins (the scene where she told them to duck and they did automatically, without thought). And that the goblins truly respects her and she cares about them. All this will lead into the "why" of a future scene.
The Thing to note about the Pleiades about what they are, are in their names.
Yuri Alpha - Yuri = Lily and Lilies having their flowers fall off their stems. Is a Dullahan Pugulist.
Lupisregina Beta - Lupis Regina literally Wolf Queen. Is a Werewolf Battle Cleric.
Narberal Gamma - Romantization of her name Naaberaru, Anagram of Bera Runa or Bella Luna, Beautiful Moon. Is a Doppelganger War Wizard. (googled this and found a reddit of it)
CZ2128 Delta - CZ is a pun of Shizu meaning Quiet, while the number 2128 might hold a significance for her creator but also points out that she's an Automaton. Is an Automaton Gunner/Sniper.
Solution Epsilon - Solution as in Chemical terms meaning a homogeneous mixtures composed of solvents and solutes. Is a Predator Slime.
Entoma Vasilissa Zeta - Entoma meaning insect Queen, Vasilissa meaning Beautiful and also a type of Stick Insect. Is an Arachnoid Insect Master/Entomancer
There's a 7th member and is the actual leader of the 7 Pleiades Stars under Sebas Tian. But she's currently been taken off duty as their Leader for a much more important role for Nazarick. Depending on the version, we might or might not get a glimpse of her in the future.
Enri beefing herself up and intimidating the Ogres is not a bluff. She now has stats that can actually intimidate these low level Ogres as well as her own Level surpassing them.
Yeah, kinda assumed that Luke didn't notice that Ainz gave Enri TWO Horn of the Goblin Generals when he saved Carne Village and before he wiped Enri's memory of him being an Undead.
As others pointed out, flattery won't get you anywhere with Nabe, but if you praise anyone else in Nazarick she would warm up a bit.
Enri is also now well connected as the Dark Hero Momon knows her and is basically her guarantor in E-Rantel. That's why the Guild Receptionist changed her tune fast. And the Fee she paid is the Reward that should be paid towards the Adventurers taking on the Quest. Enri also requested the subsidy given by the Kingdom to Frontier Villages for their protection, but since the Quest involves creatures on the level of the Wise King of the Forest, the subsidy wasn't enough.
Lupisregina has a Holy Symbol/Mace as her Main Weapon.
CZ is actually a double pun, not only meaning quiet when spelled out phonetically in Japanese, but it's also named after the czech gun manufacturer CZ.
You said "imagine befriending them just to go [I want you to die] later", but there's something you got wrong there: neither Lupus or anyone else from Nazarick are actually "befriending" anyone. "Friendly relations" for them is pretty much "we're not killing you so let's be useful to eachother."
In reality, when the people from Nazarick are "personally getting along well" with someone, they're getting along as well as "someone who took an interest in ants biology and decided to own an ants nest", or something along these lines. Maybe they'll find it interesting enough to have it around for a long time, or maybe they simply want to see firsthand how they'll react once they flood it with water. The ants' lives themselves have no value to them. That's pretty much how the minds of the evil guys from Nazarick works.
Just look at Nabe! She calls people "ant", "fly", and stuff, but she doesn't mean it as a offense: SHE REALLY THINKS OF THEM AS SUCH! You can't call that insanity, since even normal people don't care much about stepping on ants or killing some weird insect walking near them. It's the same thing (for Nazarick).
Also, good interactions like Sebas and the BROS are exceptions, since he's one of the few ones with positive Karma values. He'd still have no issue with blowing their heads if ordered so, though.
I will only say one thing. Lupusregina Beta aka Lupus the smiling sadist, is a werewolf priest with sadistic tendecies. Like, she heals people to continue torture them. Also anytime any nazarick npc talks about "supreme beings" or "41 people" they are meaning players of the guild Ainz Ooal Gown

Ainz gave her 2 horns. She used 1 and is saving the 2nd one, seen in this episode. It is a cheap, $5 gacha item that most players in yggdrasil consider worthless since it was only known to summon less than 20 low-level goblins. Its name is "the horn of the goblin general." These past episodes have shown Enri being more authoritative and commanding, like when she commanded the goblins to duck from the barghest attack and again with the ogres. These jobs start at "Sergeant," then "Commander," and finally "General." These are uncommon jobs for players in yggdrasil because it was a game and players would rather fight than sit back and command others. Enri started gaining these skills by giving orders to the goblin troop.
Note that Enri was carrying all those iron weapons easily like she's carrying a small sack of potatoes.
If your wondering how strong the maids are in comparison to others, without getting into specifics,
the maids range from level 46(CZ delta(the one with the gun)) to 63(Narberal). despite the level difference, there gear and stat distribution make them roughly equal. the guardians and Ainz are level 100 naturally, and an adamantite adventurer hovers in the level 30 range. Evileye, the masked girl, is said to be about level 50. so they are strong, just not at the unbeatable level the others are at. but still strong enough to beat most threats, as Evileye only one because she had a perfect counter to entoma.
Also, the show the karma values of the maids, with 500 being extremely good, 0 being neurtal, and -500 being extremely Evil

as stated already, LupusRegina is a werewolf, Narberal is a shapeshifter like Pandoras Actor, CZ (the one with the gun) is an automaton (fantasy robot), Yuri Alpha is a duhalan (headless undead), Entoma is a bug girl and Solution is a slime.
Since it is never going to really be brought up in the anime, this doesn't count as a spoiler.
But Lupusregina Beta is actually a werewolf. One of the gimmicks for the maids is that their names allude to the kind of monster they are. Example: Solution Epsilon is a Slime, the hint being that the word "solution" can be used in place of words like "solvent" in chemistry, and slimes slowly dissolve the things they engulf. Weapons, items... people.
Lupusregina's hint is in her name as well and can be broken down into two parts: Lupus being the Latin word for "wolf"; and Regina being Latin for "queen". So Beta's primary name literally translates into "Wolf Queen". Entoma is practically identical in this regard as her full name is Entoma Vasilissa Zeta, where Entoma Vasilissa is Greek for "Insect Queen".
The biggest thing you have to remind yourself of when it comes to the denizens of Nazarick is that NONE of them are human. All of the stock maids in Nazarick, like Fifth and Sixth (Fith and Cixous), are all homunculi. Nearly human, but not. All of the maids can take on the appearance of a human, but they aren't. Honestly if I didn't already know what they are from reading the LNs I wouldn't have be able to guess about Yuri Alpha unless they actually showed what makes her a monster. The only hint I can think of is that her name might be a purposeful misspelling of "Yurei".

More troops does also mean that there are more houses, food and sush needed.
therefor it is not directly the best thing to do.
Also by holding on she now always has an emergency groep. If she got taken at the city she could blow the horn and let the goblins defend her so she could escape.
I forget exact numbers for the maids but as a general reference Ainz and the floor guardians are all level 100 and the maids range somewhere in the area of the high 50s to 70s i think. There are character sheets with levels out on the internet for anyone who wants to dig for exact numbers.
Levels plays a very important role in Overlord universe. The higher you have the more things go your way it seems(like those goblins being able to capture those big ugly ogres), especially when those levels are assigned to specific classes.
Lupes-regina is talking about the creators when she says that she knows 41.
Something mentioned on a stat page in the light novel that isn't covered in the anime is that Enri has three particular skills. Sergeant Lv 1, Commander Lv 2, and General Lv2. I don't know if she naturally had these or if using the horn bestowed it onto her. These skills give her a commanding presence which is why she was able to hold sway over the ogres.

To be fair, there is some sense in not summoning until needed. For one, logistics. They showed the summoned troop eating and drinking. Doubling their number would likely strain the already tight resources of such a small settlement. Secondly is tactics. Once they've summoned they're there, but until then you've literally got an army in your pocket, able to much more easily sneak behind enemy lines, into a restricted area such as the town they needed wait outside of, or gather quickly without needing to wait on them waking or a general muster.
This is my favorite season of Overlord! So much good stuff is still yet to come! (and it will open up the story quite nicely for season 4 which has an absolutely awesome ending)
Sebas was the boss of all the maids, he was demoted from that charge because of the Tsuare incident in season 2. His position was given to Yuri alpha and another maid was promoted to the pleiades, which are the main maids
One of the reasons I love Luke's reactions its because he pays enough attention to understand what is going on but does not read too much into things that it spoils his enjoyment, I know people get immediately what race is Lupusregina from her name but it might not be too obvious to others, Luke, she is a werewolf hence the ears that you noticed several times xD
I don't remember if it is specifically mentioned in this anime, but in most scenarios it works something like this. Village A has a safety problem, they go to the local adventurers guild to put up a quest, and they either pay the full amount out of the village savings, or there is a minimum the country covers and they top off the rest, or the country covers it in full. In this case it should be the second one, and then usually somewhere along the lines of 50-80% is paid to the adventurer minus the guild's service fee and any sort of tax laws the kingdom has in place.
Also as an aside in some settings adventurers can take quests above their rank but must pay a penalty if they fail to complete it within a time limit, which is usually used to compensate the villagers who lose family members cause Bob the adventurer got his shit kicked in and had to retreat.
Ainz gave Enri 2 of those horns in season 1 when she was being attacked. They are one time use items so she only has the one horn left.
Beta is technically a Werewolf (Lupus Regina = Wolf Queen). All the battle maids look human, but aren't. We got Werewolf, Dullahan, Automaton, Slime, Bug & Doppelganger.

and waaaay back when Ainz tossed her the horns you could see that there was two, otherwise not much is mentioned til this episode to remind you of the second.
The "Pleiades" battle maids is set up in two ways, you may remember when Sebas was removed from his leadership role. This is actually part of the structure of the group. When Sebas is in a direct leadership role they are the "Pleiades Six Stars" but when the alternate leader takes control they are the "Pleiades Seven Sisters" in either case Yuri Alpha is the deputy commander. They don't really rank based on level, so I can only assume that since Beta is second oldest, and alphabetically second(with Narberal Gamma being 3rd in both regards) that she is probably sort of the big sister to Nabe. Hence Nabe being pleased both that Beta was complimented and that she was favorably compared to her.
In general, if you want to get in the good graces of the denizens of Nazarick... say nice things about their superiors... but don't get caught in a lie.

Lupisregina is the healer of the Pleiades. Her personality is super sadistic, loves to hurt people, then heal them just so she can hurt them again. She is also a werewolf, the lupis of her name.
The reason Nabe liked Enri first introduction is because she doesn't know they're both battlemaids and she still complimented her highly along Beta, unknowningly.
As to why she would not use the 2nd horn you need to remember that she is thinking of it not as a gamer about army numbers go brrrr she thinks about more mouths to feed, more people to manage, more minds to persuade. Thats exactly what makes Enri a good leader.

Lupisregina's "gap moe" quirk is that she's cheerful, friendly, loves jokes, but is also a devious sadist who loves nothing more than laughing at people's suffering. The twisted humor of Lupisregina is that she has levels of Cleric, allowing her to inflict pain and torment on people, then heal their wounds completely, allowing her to do it all over again to her heart's content.

For a bit of context, in the light novel the bath scene in the first episode and the conversation between Lupusregina and Yuri scene here were happening at the same time and only THEN the scene where Ainz reiterated the importance of the development of Carne Village in episode 2 happened. A bit of a pacing mistake in the anime that ruins Lupusregina's motive, she's naturally sadistic but her loyalty to Ainz is paramount.
Now you have an idea of what Lupu is like. Much like Princess Renner, they both hide their real self behind a mask.

Oh no, it's wasn't the compliment that made Naberal's mood shift. It was the fact that she was compared to Lupusregina, another Pleiades that did the trick. She wouldn't have cared if Enri said she was the most beautiful person in the world because to her, humans don't know beauty as much as a gnat can't possibly appreciate the Mona Lisa. But being compared to a fellow Pleiades whom she naturally holds a lot of respect is a genuine compliment to her.
As for Lupusregina Beta herself, she's a fun character. And pretty sure those are indeed ears, she's a werewolf (Lupusregina means Queen of Wolves in Latin).
She has a quite playful, teasing side to her personality. She's also quite happy to have some consentual (!!!) 'fun' time with people (including humans, she actually gives Enri a couple lessons when the latter asked for it) which stands in stark contrast to her also being a brutal and calculating sadist. She's the kind of Nazarick denizen that is actually somewhat approachable and won't immediately snap your neck for looking at her wrong and if you tread carefully enough is rather easy to be around as long as you don't catch a heart attack from her sneaking up at you for funsies. But you ABSOLUTELY don't want to get on her wrong side because that is going to get ugly and she'll take her sweet time with it. With her cleric levels giving her potent healing powers I'm sure you can guess where that is going.
Beta is a sadist that enjoys breaking the people she likes, which her being a cleric makes that more terrifying.
Also Enri has gained Job Levels in commander type classes, thats why her orders are affecting the others. Enri's story parallels Ainz as she becomes the leader of a small and growing village(not by choice) and struggles trying to take care of everything

So, this scene is supposed to make you doubt Ainz's intentions, because at this point we don't know what he is doing with the village (using it to test peaceful rule), so we are supposed to see this scene, and be like, o fluff, does ainz want to destroy this village? What is his plan?
The anime actually moved some things into chronological order which were supposed to be out of order deliberately for dramatic effect, and the reason for this is anime viewers don't have as much time to absorb information, so they can miss details
Net effect, this scene is reduced to just showing off how much of a psycho Beta is, and doesn't make you doubt Ainz anymore
