Emily Bronte’s poem beautifully captures our longing for the carefree, simpler days of childhood, and celebrates the little ways in which we can still visit them. Ola Gjeilo’s music, however, catapults the whole experience into the sublime with the lyrical energy of childhood.
Im back again... just to listen to this piece again at such a hard time in my life. Torn between a many place. I just want to die listening to this... to ascend into these melodies and harmonies....makes me weak...makes me weep... makes me cry.... tears were shed.....this is an absolute masterpiece. the other new pieces are absolutely stunning too but this....this sounds like it's going to be an all time classic. it's genius. absolutely beautiful and no words can describe it.
I always come back to this song. It' so overwhelmingly beautiful it's hard to believe this was written and performed by mortals. Thank you for sharing this.
I played this song repeatedly as i travelled to the West Coast of the South Island. Driving through the Canterbury High Country and crossing the Bealey River to my Turangawaewae of Arthur's Pass and watching the mountains rise covered with fresh snow as they came into view. Last Tuesday when I was driving the sun was out and indeed it was a day of beauty.
I come back day after day just to listen to this piece. It is amazing, and it shows a peak of heaven to me. Thank you again to writing this piece and having it performed.
This is an insanely haunting song. Mr Gjello, this is a a masterpiece. I heard it for the first time on San Francisco's KDFC Classical Music Station and immediately fell in love with it.
I’m simply in love with your songs I’m trying to find some songs that are good for the choir I’m in to sing and these are going to be on my mind when I tell them about this
@@LevelUpWithMatthew SATB would be phenomenal. You simply don't understand musical composition. Yes, mens voices can be delicate as well. For example, The King Singers.
The composer needs to write vocal lines in phrases tailored to how long a person can sing before they need to take a breath. After they start singing, the sopranos aren't given a rest until 1:25 and the altos until 1:34.
Gjeilo, you are truly a genius! My choir sang Days of Beauty with a new arrangement, adapting it for male and female choir and making a spectacular video! Write this in the search: you will love it for sure! Corale Novarmonia - Days of Beauty (O. Gjeilo) SATB Choir
Beautiful piece. Just curious though... Why use d minor without notating the key signature? You just hard coaded all the b flats individually. You obviously know why you're doing. I'm just curious.
I absolutely love all of Ola's music. What a gift he has and is.
I completely agree. this one makes me tear up.
I discover him about 10 years ago. I used his music to clam myself during the high stress of working and now retired I still love it.
Amazing Ola's masterpieces, after all, his composes are unique

Ever thought what it would sound like to take S2 and A2 down an octave and have mixed choir SATB? It would definitely make 1:35 section stand out.

From about 1:05 the piano seems to be playing something quite different from what is visible in the score.

this also reminds me of mass effect's music, a little bit
I hear some touches of Philip Glass and Enya.
So do I! Even a bit of the main theme of "The Piano" (not the parts with lots of saxophone though).
Some of it reminds me of the Polar Express movie...
Sounds like Harry Potter/Edward Scissorhands

Why does this song remind me Victoria? I mean the Tv Series...
talk about underappretiated altos
A bit reminiscent of the Downton Abbey theme.
Beautiful textures. However, It gets really repetitive very fast.
