Two Mang0 vs. Leffen sets in a tournament. 4 nail-biting Game 5 sets in a row to end it off.
TBH9 is an instant classic in the annals of Melee.
annals
I love annal
gimme annals
my favorite super smash brothers player is annalguard
lmao love the sarcasm guys.
But truly TBH9 will be one of those top 5 moments due to the tech issue and the hype at the time👍🏼 cool we witnessed another historical moment in melee.
Maybe a weird compliment, but I liked that alongside Mang0's swaggy plays, the times he GOT dunked were also included in the cuts. I know of a few players/editors who would get rid of any moment that made them look bad. Melee is sick, and it takes the whole host of top players to make it so. Props to the editor, and congrats to Mang0 on the brutal grind through a nasty tournament.
exactly, shoutouts to the editor, the last few mang0 tournament videos felt like combo clips instead of good summaries
That was an odd compliment.
*Insert self harm joke*
part of being in the nation is knowing at any moment he can do the mang0 and just throw its thrilling
Ty, I super appreciate the love. I wanted to show the whole run with the ups and downs. A highlight reel of him just winning would get old real quick lol
RIGHT? Like those Zain combos were incredible and it made the video so much more hype. Didn't just feel like he plowed through everyone
"I think he feels a little bit abandoned by his rival, his partner", I didn't want to tear up watching melee today wtf.
Are they talking about armada? I don't follow melee very closely
@@aidenwhiting5131 Yeah they're talking about Armada, sorry I probably should have specified that :)
Andrew Kim damn you couldn’t even watch the first minute of the video huh?
@@andrewkim1132 If memory serves it's the very first segment of commentary in the video, so perhaps easy to forgot by the end (y)
I love that Scar and Toph don't feel the need to comment on every single move done. I love this style of commentary so much more.
Also, congrats Mang0.
Toph is an S tier commentator. Scar held it together this time and did a decent job.
Thats not to say that style isnt good either, the french commentators for ultimate were good (I forgot what tournament specifically)
Also, shout out to Cinnpie for being the best commentator on Ultimate, and its not even close.
Shadoninja do you think he usually does a bad job?
@@gilgamesh5796 feels weird reading this comment now lol
28:08 when somebody asks me the name of the bad guy from Monsters Inc.
LOOL

GOAT. Dominated with Puff then switched to Fox to become the best ever, no one could touch him in his prime. And now half a decade later, he’s still winning major tournaments with Falco
Retro Cryptic yeah I mean he is definitely the goat now because armada gave up and mango just won a super major. His fox and puff were both untouchable in his prime.
Ryan McPhee, lmao now only virgins play Puff at least to Mango😂
Then his answer about Hbox is always funny
Ryan McPhee Nah Armada is undeniably the GOAT. Mang0 is really good but Armada just won like fucking everything man. Dude had an absolute run and seemingly no one could stop him until he decided to retire.
But, the peach from Sweden though...... I’ll let you kiddos have your moment
@@Shady90133 you obviously didnt pay attention to smash from 2009-2015 6 years of dominance and armada was ranked 1 for what one year? Love armada but was always considered the underdog vs mango.
Morsecode762 is actually a cyborg deployed by PPMD to study his opponents.
I thought I was weird for thinking this, but if someone else is thinking it too, then...???
Well... he’s still better than hugo
Commentary timestamps for "There's so much more Melee to be played":
0:17 Scar's anecdote
25:38 "Infinite players and infinite games"
27:09 "WHAT IS HAPPENING"
He was really shoving that quote down our throat lol he repeated it about 10 times. It is good though.
1:26
i can feel the mang0 "hehehehe" from here
The faces Leffen makes while he plays are absolutely wild.
Yeah, he looks like he is constipated and he dropped a big one.
When he got counter shined off the ledge he looked like his mdma just kicked in
drugs
I've stepped away from melee, but this gives me hope. Mango is sick
Jigalo Melee is sick
comeback we miss u
@@IAMMRON Disappointed that I ever said that. Definitely playing all the time again lmao
I really liked scars piece on fiction. He played with so much emotion and heart this tournament and proved himself and his play style not only to himself but to everyone watching and doubting
Scar’s shouting during commentating is so hilarious and I love it. He genuinely portrays what we’re all feeling during that Grand Finals match. Props to Scar and Toph for the sickest commentary.
I remember typing to this kid on AIM about learning to DI against Fox's UAir as Jigglypuff and he was so cool. I'm glad he turned out alright
As somebody that didn't pay that much attention to Melee back in the day. And being a huge huge fan of ultimate, i can honestly say that I've rarely got this exited watching a super smash video. Honestly this seems like Melee players are on a different level than ultimate. You can really grasp how the game has aged and all those years of practice taking all kind of combos, follow ups and punishes to God like perfection.
Then again i really want to see the evolution of ultimate and what are the next secrets to unlock. Thought i think no super smash will never age as well as Melee.
i really doubt there are that many secrets in TR4.5H because there's not really any tech skill or complicated neutral interactions
@@SpOoOokyGhost its funny how tr4sh players will say wavedashing is cheating. nintendo needed to make a slower smash game to keep lazy scrubs buying. watching melee at 1/2 speed is still faster than ultimate.
People really made fun of this really nice comment huh
it definitely has an unreachable level that the other smash games can't emulate, due to it's little touches and mechanics that weren't able to be buffed out (time constraints) like the constant updates and time they had for all the future smash bros games. In a way melee is so perfectly broken that it just feels like a finished fast fighting game.
Respect that opinion but I don't think that the punishgame of ultimate will evolve that much. Chars like Pika, pichu, ken(ryu terry), shiek and peach will evolve sure but there are like 40 chars in the game that only will change in neutral play
20:44 - Scar had to stop himself from saying "Leffen is getting trunched" lol
why is it bad to say that
@@ethanweissman8753 I think he was just being careful not to overuse it
"THEY DONT WANT US TO SEE THE TECHNOLOGY"
"You gotta fear the Trojans even when they bring gifts." Is legit the most genius and underrated commentary moment of all time. Scar is a legend.
Mang0's jump after winning any Grand final and the crowd going crazy is pure melee nostalgia , congrats champ !!!!!
As much as I wanted Mang0 to win, I still felt so bad for Zain. He was definitely heartbroken.
@Matthew Madruga There's no one in the world who would have lost that set that way and not felt completely destroyed emotionally.
Zain was on winner side with his dream bracket. He honestly choked it.
You could see it in his face the moment mango took game 5 from the first set. Took a lot of mental fortitude to take it to another game 5. He played out of his mind. Straight slugfest.
I forgot who said it but Zain definitely chokes under pressure. This was a great set though 👍
And he played so well too. But Zain is a young monster, and he is only getting better. He is gonna have some huge wins in the future for sure. There is so much more Melee to be played.
Mang0 said himself that when he isn't shaking his head at any flubs (from him or his opponent), that's how you know he's in the zone.
28:26 perfect commentary
I miss the old mang0, but goddamn do I love the new one too
Normally Randall is admittedly a pretty cheeky fellow...but I swear he had an agenda to give us all heart attacks this tournament.
I love the intimately close facecams, you can really see all the stress in detail
Never failing to put a smile on my face, that's the Mango.
28:56
Lol you can hear some dude in the audience yelling "Oh NoOoO!!" after Zain misses his up b
sounds like ludwig
Mang0 will single handily pull Armada out of retirement
HungryBox: exists
Mang0: FOX
Name a player who SD’s as much as Mang0 and still wins tourneys. A true god
Man when that guy is on, he is O N!
part of being in the nation is knowing at any moment he can do the mang0 and just throw its thrilling
I could rant for hours about why this tourney is probably the turning point in Melee right now.
The best in the game putting most of their time into ultimate, hungrybox running away with first for the third year in a row, and the “technical robots” taking over the game (as the commentators put it), Melee was waning in viewership and interest. No Evo, no second summit, no heart. It seemed like the game was going to be overshadowed by its new brother.
And then there’s Mango (and also Axe). The last ray(s) of hope and hype. He got a win at goml, and it seemed like a turnaround, and then… nothing. Bustering out left and right, which is the mango, but it seemed like he was out of contention. The drones of technical perfection and campy puffs were suddenly all that’s left.
At TBH9, there was something in the air. Fresh blood taking household names, the return of the king of the mews with an incredible run, and Mango, sitting in winners top 16. All seemed right in the world. Melee was feeling fast, but awesome to behold. It was clean, but it wasn’t just flowcharts and techskill, it was heads up plays and sick combos that defied everything we’d seen previously. And as was said many times, “there’s so much more Melee left to play” rang true as the bracket started.
Then disaster strikes. Leffen takes Mango through the ringer, and sets up his fight with Hbox, a demoralizing 3-0 and heading into the hands of his maker. The war between the lame and the sick was about to finish. This was the end of Melee as we knew it once to be.
Mango, the stubborn man he is, said no. Suddenly he looks alive, and is ripping apart Hbox’s defenses. The fox was kicking, and finding every UpAir and crazy kill read. Before we knew it, the crowd was on its feet, and the final stocks laid at the feet of Hbox. The ray of hope became a sensation, a burning passion deep within the hearts of everyone watching. HBOX GOT FIFTH?? The numbers on twitch started climbing. Mango was about to redeem himself, as mango always will it seems, with a Big House losers run. And this is just the beginning. The way mango went to his tournament stock in EIGHT GAMES in FOUR SETS STRAIGHT just shows how much he needed this win for the fans, for the community, for the potential for Melee to live on as something that cannot be bound by flowcharts and techskill, but something more beautiful. And this epitomizes in his fight with Zain, that stood tall against each and every technical and flowcharted spacie that came his way. Except mango.
At the end of it all, there is still so much more Melee to be played.
Mega Altaria why did you decide to type this
@@CreeOnHere lmfaoooo
Cree Jackson dude loves melee
@@CreeOnHere I quite enjoyed the read. Methinks you just want attention.
This loser run feels like 2014-2015 when i first started to watch melee tournements. When is the last time a falco main won a super major ? Insane run mang0.
Earlier this year at GOML? but before that?? Probably Mango at SSC 2017? But before that??? Probably PPMD whenever he last went solo Falco? I'm not well versed enough in melee history. However, right now in this current meta, I think it's harder than ever for Falco to win a super major. It's so fucking rad that Mango is doing it though, verse the best Marth in the world no less. This tournament was such a legendary run for the nation and for Falco mains everywhere. It felt like Mango kept doing the impossible over and over. When I first started watching the vids for this tournament I remember thinking how it would be so amazing to have a grand finals that was Mango vs Leffen or Mango vs Zain. Nothing against Hbox, but he has been in 95% of the grandfinals for the last two years lol.
@@jimtroeltsch5998 Second at Pound as well, respectfully
GOML had every single Top 10 player, so I would count that as a supermajor. And Mango won that earlier this year. Its cool that Mango keeps saying that he had a shitty year eventhough he has two supermajor wins and a good 2nd place at Pound.
4 months ago is the answer.
Totaly forgot about GOML thx guys
This win truly gave me chill and happiness that i havent felt in a long time.
They say that lady is still screaming “LETS GO MANG0!” Till this day

Armada lacks two things that made want him to quit during the age of Hungrybox: American spirit and tenacity

*15:51** Changing my passwords to:*
This confused me because those numbers are in my password lol
I love that this includes highlights of Zain dunking on Mango in Mango’s highlight video.
It's respect for zain
28:07 RANDALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I could watch this till the day I die. THE KID WINS AGAIN
Best grand finals I've ever seen in my life.
"That forward smash was actually very intelligent" lol
watching this live was sick. always love to see mango get a win.

Feel bad for Leffen, you can literally see it in his face that he knew that was it. He was really trying his best.
I found his faces to funny to watch
This tourney had one of the most hype melee top 8's ive ever seen. absolutely sick
28:06 at this point everyone watching thought Zain was gonna win, it was crazy
One of the most hype and edge of your seat grand finals in a long time. Well played Mang0!!
Mangos win was so legendary he has 6 likes on a video with only one view
One of the best top 8s ive seen in minute. Ggs to the goat.
That was a sick video ..... need more of these condensed runs of tournament wins from any of the gods
Am I wrong in thinking that if Leffen was having those same stomach problems that Hbox was having, he would have twitted about it and then dq'd himself? I respect Hbox.
I like leffen and still 100% agree with you
Leffen was apparently having bad hand problems the whole time and played through it, so idk about that, but he definitely goes overboard with the complaining sometimes
HBox definitely played through a lot this tourney. I look forward to seeing Mang0 beat him at full power.
Tummy ache johns ROFL
This is why I love Melee!!
I don't watch it often but when i do it's HYPE AF!!!!
Congrats Mango!!
This was in my opinion one of the greatest tournaments we’ve seen in a long time
The gameplay for the Zain set was so high level. This game is being pushed to the limits. Look at the Zain combo at 23:23
13:20 "might be mango running out of gas." How wrong you were
Legend of zelda mango's awakening
We all knew he would win by the thumbnail but the journey was the best part. USA USA USA
Melee has the best commentary.
Best run. Best tournament. Best ending featuring the greatest player to ever touch this game
29:53 Zain motions to congratulate Mango 30:10 completed. Epic
God what a SICK top 8. Absolutely outstanding run. Melee never ceases to amaze.
Toph: "Mmmhmmm"
Mango shmovin in game and irl, that pop off was frame one
Melee is so sick
i love how the cameras all close to manjos face lmao
That randall save was unreal..
27:43 as soon as I saw Mang0 double laser, I knew he was gonna die, still not safe
That last set was like Ken vs PC-Chris, but with 19 years worth of Melee history and God Skills
30:06 security dude trying to tell Alex to get off stage, and Alex is like "NO U".
28:07 cloud doesn`t want mango to win lmao
howl2140 dude I swear he just came out of no where !! 😂😂
No. Randal knew what he was doing. He was extending the match for the people. More gameplay, more.high level Melee
25:18 you could tell mango's heart was beating and he really wanted this lol whenever mango wins everyone's happy
I'm even more convinced that Mang0 and Justin Wong are literally the Kings of Loser Runbacks... Jesus man 😷
Mango playin like a saiyan, he kept getting beaten within an inch of his life but that shit just kept making him stronger. Such a sick losers run
Mango in losers is a whole different beast
7:35 “What an Up-air Rest from Mang0
being the best is pretty cool ive gotta say
Hell yeah clutch af man congrats! Happy to see all that combo practice you've been putting in pay off. Your adaptations to your opponent's play style when it was do or die time were insane. Well deserved victory, an inspiration to up and coming smash players world wide 👌
So glad to see mango going for those nairs against zain after he discovered that was way too effective than dair (on neutral)
Randall is an absolute mad lad!
"There is so much more melee to be played"
This is my favorite DBZ saga.
this warms the cockles of my heart
had chills every game 5 clutch up.
Ma brain let me go to sleep sees mango wins Big House 9, Starts 30 min video. No regret
26:52 here in the Mang0 nation we use the whole hit box. It’s not much but it’s simple work.
30 minutes of great Melee.
fiction kept nodding like he earned that game
Most dangerous melee player of all time wins the big house 9 fuck yeah!
man every time i think i’m over at least the competitive part of smash, mango wins a major and makes me feel like it’s 2014 again
Honestly, same. just when it looked like Zain was going to take it all, Axe Wizy and Mang0 have done it.
I can hear Mang0's laugh at 1:27
Here again after Summit 11
Was waiting for this video
Congratulations Mang0 😁
Mang0 nation stand up! Awesome tournament.

Is this real life? You cant write a better story than this!
What's the song that plays when mango wins the tourney?
MANGO! MANGO! MANGO!
