Videos like this motivate me to really want to truly learn my A4. I'm halfway there . . . everytime I tell myself "I'm gonna learn how this thing truly works", I end up fucking around because I dialed up a sound I really liked.
You don't mean you did that right out of the box, correct? I've had mine for 3 months and still learning how to turn on the power switch and find my way around.
Amazing sounds and p locks coming from this super 4?voice machine. I’ve had mine for 5 years and still going strong but still can’t seem the make it sound half as good as this. I guess I just need to spend more time on each pattern and polish it up and improve on it I guess ⭐️👍
thanks !! ... to be honest there is a little bit mastering involved to let it shine a bit more. It is always a good exercise to make a track with only one instrument and it´s all about finding sweetspots
Hello, wonderful music Man.. Do you own any other equipment besides Elektron that you would like to integrate into your wicked performances.? I'm currently trying to work out whether to buy a Wavestsate or Microfreak.. I'm also trying to decide between a Circuit Tracks and a Digitone, I don't think the circuit work flow would be easy for me though.! I also like how friendly the MODEL : SAMPLES looks compared to my digitakt.! Or is it just people making it look easy, I make dub/minimal/tribal tech-house.. Could you possibly do a video on how you go from: ie long speech nice vinyl, edit the speech/drums into which format and bittate etc., find some funky chords on record, save everything in a folder at 120bpm/140bpm etc then transfer to the Digitakt.. I would be eternally grateful..... I'm currently stuck here, :( Peace out..✌
Thanks a lot! oh yes there are many nice things i would like to have ... but i have to say i´m very happy with my setup. The modular and the hydrasynth give me everything I miss on the elektron´s. I also own a old Roland JP8080 and a Korg Monologue but i but I rarely use them. As you may have already noticed, I love the digitone and cannot recommend it enough. DT and DN are such a nice Combo espacially for this kind of music. Exactly at which point are you stuck? The transfer to the DT should not be the problem. The DT takes care of the format and bitrate during transfer and you don't need to worry about that. Maybe try to evoid loops und use more single hits. DT is not designed for dealing with loops .. it is possible but not comfortable. I just fill my DT with nice drums, chords, speech, pads, fieldrecordings, bass and sound in general. feel free to ask if you have specific questions
hi, I tried to record my elektron a4 like you did on this video. I have created two audio channels one for left input, second for the right and unfortunetly the input volume is pretty low. Would be greatful for any of your advise, trying to figure it out for soo long. Great video, all the best:)
Hi, thats weired ... Normally the A4 produces a decent volume. Your tracklevels are set properly? also the levels on the amp-page? mastervolume at at 3 o'clock? ... if the answer is yes the problem is not the a4 but your recording device. What do you use to record the A4? A decend Audio-Interface? you should still be able to regulate the volume on the interface. Keep in mind that i master my track´s after the recording... that makes the track's much louder.
@@substan_music thank you for your feedback. Yes, everything is set as you mentioned. Another weird or not weird issue is that I'm only able to record without my headphones because when I plug them there is no signal at all. So its really unconventional when I try to record something in the night. I use Allen&heath usb mixer for recording. Maybe I should invest in interface, what model are you using for recording A4?
@@martynaziomek3222 a allen & heath mixer should be absolutely fine. Is the volume already to low in the mixer? Headphones and output should work both... but i will check that when i get home. Maybe there is something wrong with your A4.
So frustrating to watch this great stuff! Have an A4 since few month now but cannot get something going fluidly. Just fumbling around and only crap sounds getting out of it. My fault of obviously. Thanks for this ride though.
Hey Substan. Was wondering: does the Analog Four (also Analog Keys) have a mode where you can live record a sequence unquantized? (I am thinking like on Pro 3 or Korg Volca Keys)
Yes all the elektron sequencers allow you to do that. You can toggle between quatised or unquantised recording. Its also possible to set the micro timing for the steps.
that is hard to say ... the two are very different... The A4 offers much more modulation options but the DN has a lot more diversity at the oscillator level... But i think you can come up with something similar on the DN ... maybe not quite so analog sounding
The sound of the MK1 is absolutely fine and it can produce a lot of bass if you want and know how... only the tiny and poorly aged display is really annoying about the box.
It´s a saw with 1OCT sub plus a triangle with 1OCT sub one octave lower. in addition to the first filter (yes no resonance) i used filter 2 in peak mode to enhance the low frequencies
right now i make a sub hit with a special low compressed kick and some space reverb trancy acidy never geting-boring-voice to Your track... really good to add something missing...something to add missing space...believe me or not Your track is good man. I really want to record it on camera but its late and tomorrow I have to move my ass to another country so I have to go sleep soon. I'm tapping my bpm on Digitakt and I'm out of sync. Is it 91BPM? If I subscribe Your channel can U help me with making videos like that Your method? is it easy to? good music man. U sure U have used in recording only Analog Four? -it sounds like evil inside me!
thanx ... I am very excited to hear your remix :) ... let me know when it is done. Yes the speed is 91BPM and it´s only the A4 on this track. The Video is done with some free software and i´m an absolute beginner in videoediting ... i don´t think i can help you a lot.
Put the Playback speed on 1.25, JUST WOW!
i will try ...
@@substan_music noo it's so quiet so :-D
Yo truuuuuuu
Thanks for another great track. Guys like you give me that spot on the horizon to guide my own efforts to improve.
Mesmerising track. Excellent.
The perfect instrument for these types of sounds. Hypnotic and dreamy.
Very nice!
Beautiful!

yes sometimes it is exactly like that .. maybe it comforts you .. i also have the feeling that there is much more possible
@@substan_music Oh, no doubt. That's one of the reasons I like Elektron products -- there is much to learn w/ them.
This is hands down my favorite A4 track. Hats off to you.
Wow! This is stunning!
Very good.
A very interesting track!
Nicely done! 🎶 👍 😊
Nice track
One of the better things I've heard from it too, nice one man!
I like it.
Can't believe it's only four note polyphony too.
That is really something. I just had to hit that replay button.
MKI FTW!
Damn I love this
Great analog sounds 😎
Thanks!
That does it! Selling my Moog for one of these.
Fab sounding synth , great track , well done :-)
Nice
That’s really good
lovely piece of track
wow great work!
Super!
awesome
Fuck yes
And nice sound after kick off on 5th min! Would you show how its made?
this sound is actually quite simple to do. all you need is a sine or triangle lfo to modulate the cutoff.
You don't mean you did that right out of the box, correct? I've had mine for 3 months and still learning how to turn on the power switch and find my way around.
No .. of course, I have read the manual before and I was already familiar with the elektron-sequencer and subtractiv-synthesis in general.
Have done the MAC provideo tutorial? Screw the manual. That will teach u how to rock this thing.. I learned how to use A4 on my 2nd day

Is the kicks also one of the tracks of the A4?
Yes it is ... A4 is so great for drums.
really nice track, were the drums made with the A4 as well?
Thanks !! yes ... its all A4. It´s perfect for drums

Hi! What do you think how easy is it to replicate this main bass/pad on a digitone with all these modulations?
that is hard to say ... the two are very different... The A4 offers much more modulation options but the DN has a lot more diversity at the oscillator level... But i think you can come up with something similar on the DN ... maybe not quite so analog sounding
@@substan_music lol thank you, but doesn't matter anymore. Bought A4 thanks to this video!
All sounds from e a4?
Yes .. it's pure A4
Why do ppl keep trashing on mk1’s bass?
The sound of the MK1 is absolutely fine and it can produce a lot of bass if you want and know how... only the tiny and poorly aged display is really annoying about the box.
How do you get that clean, rich bass sound in the first few mins? Is it just a filtered saw with no res? some reverb?
It´s a saw with 1OCT sub plus a triangle with 1OCT sub one octave lower. in addition to the first filter (yes no resonance) i used filter 2 in peak mode to enhance the low frequencies
plus a little bit of A4 reverb and delay
The only problem with this track is that it doesn’t last forever
