This used to come on after "Saved By the Bell" I remember they made an appearance at a mall in my area when I was 10 and I was so pressed to go..lol My dad took me and while I was waiting in line to get autographs, my dad went to Banana Republic and bought this Safari style hat. He still has it and every time I see it I think about that day...LOL
i was telling my daughter how this was my show back in the day. she loves big time rush and i had to let her know that the guys next door started this trend lol
I can't believe that this video is on youtube. I remember watching as a kid (Around 10) every Saturday morning, and having the tape thinking I was all that...god, I was a total queen even back then...I love childhood memories
They were supposed to be a real music group with a tv show to help build their fan base. Triple threat (singing, dancing, acting). I used to watch this show on Saturday mornings. I loved this show and the Roundhouse on Nickolodeon. :)
Yes. The only thing i hated was that they would have goofy videos instead of real ones. I loved "I've Been Waiting for You" until the dang chimp came out. SMH
I remember this show along with the song! The song better than the show! Good Memories tho! California Dreams was another teen show around this Era that i watched :-)
Chris was my fave. Long time ago I meet chris, bobby, eddie, patrick. Can't remember where it was at. But anyways miss watching there show watched it every morning it was on.
They were a TV version of "New Kids on the Block" who were extremely popular at the time...sort of like what" The Monkees" were to "The Beatles" back in the 60's
@@marchorton2903 The Branding and the merchandising got bigger than the music and the group it's self. I don't think they ruined pop boy bands because by late 91' and early 92' the music scene was changing pretty drastically but the NKOTB phenomenon was still fresh in peoples mind. By the mid to late 90's, a new crop of tween & teen girls were ready for a "boy band" of their own with the likes of Hanson, BSB and NSYNC, Ironically it would be a girl group (Spice Girls) that would get things going again.
@@DrRiddlez2015 I'm trying to figure out how you two had this whole discussion around how NKOTB and GND were related and that time in pop-culture history, and you failed to mention that this show was in direct competition with the NKOTB animated series?! I mean, even saying that the GND were the TV versions of NKOTB or inspired by them is only stating maybe half the case. It's not even like GND was created in response to the success of the NKOTB animated show - they started within weeks of one another. Though one could easily argue that GND was created in response to ABC developing the NKOTB series, expecting one of the two to dominate the market. And yet, both shows were equally doomed from the start, by terrible production values and lame storylines (even for Saturday morning TV); though weirdly the GND had two fewer episodes in total, but held out until Feb of 1991, whereas the NKOTB cartoon was gone by Dec of 1990. Though yeah, that is about the point where NKOTB tried, and initially failed, to transition into an adult group and escape their Tiger Beat past. But obviously they didn't even pull that off until they were all old enough to trade on nostalgia of we former 14-year-old girls. And I actually credit their comeback with helping me overcome some pretty screwed up stuff that I dealt with throughout my 20s, because seeing them live with a whole lot of other 30-something "fan girls" helped me rediscover said 14-year-old., and proved to be so therapeutic that I did it twice. :)
Of all five of the Guys Next Door, only two of them guest starred on Saved By The Bell during season 3 with Patrick Dancy (who later had a recurring role as Laura’s boyfriend, Ted on Family Matters) played Brian Watkins in the episode titled Date Auction and Eddie Garcia (who was one of Michael Jackson’s backup dancers during his Bad tour prior to Guys Next Door) played Johnny Dakota in one of the shows most famous episodes titled No Hope With Dope. Those episodes were taped and later broadcast after NBC cancelled Guys Next Door in 1991. The whereabouts of the other three Guys (Next Door, that is) remain a mystery to this day
Actually Eddie Garcia had an extremely successful career as a main back up dancer for Michael Jackson throughout Jackson's career. This show was merely a blip on his radar.
I saw Eddie Garcia a few months after this show at my Burger King. He sat right near the cashier area. I told the cashier...he was on TV. Get his autograph. So she asked for his autograph for me. He signed it something like to Eduardo nice name only my name is Ricardo. He liked to order a BK broiler which is like a chicken whooper. I said he liked it because Tiffany Amber went in the drive thru to order 3 BK Broilers since they were dating. This was in the city of Duarte CA
@@JasonDelarosa2000 Yeah...she was. This was either in 1991 or 1992. My coworker was telling me to see who is at the drive thru and I took a peek and I knew it was one of the girls from Saved By The Bell. She gave her a paper autographed and added some xoxoxo. Eddie must have told her to order 3 BK Broilers with I think no mayo and add pickles so on a Sunday a few weeks later....someone ordered a BK Broiler no mayo with pickles I remembered that's what Tiffani ordered and that's when I saw Eddie sitting all alone near the cashier table and I told my coworkers he is a star. I later went to the store and bought one of those coworkers the Guys Next Door cassette to show her that he was a star. I told one of my other coworkers that Eddie Garcia was eating here and she said that she sees him at Mervyns in Monrovia all the time.Tiffani also told my coworker that Eddie lives in Bradbury which is up the street from Duarte but Bradbury is for rich people. That Burger King was knocked down and now they have the Huntington apartments for the people that don't know 1413 Huntington Dr, Duarte.
Two good shows. Only GND seem to parody themselves. They were good singers and dancers, too. Should have did more serious videos instead of the funny stuff. I think Magic Night was the only video that was "normal".
this show was never shown in memphis because memphis was a big wrestling affiliate. i remember it came on after saved by the bell, and this would never be shown because of nwa wrestling.
OMG in remember these guys They were New Kids rip offs who has their own show. They were super popular at the time though but they quickly dissapeared after their show cancelled
I remember this, watching on Saturday mornings thinking to myself how this is just a cheesy NKOTB ripoff. It was pretty obvious and they weren't trying to hide it. I remember how I would piss my female cousins off by making fun of NKOTB and TGND. And, in turn, they would get under my skin by telling me how The Simpsons and TMNT sucked. Great times.

Sponsors for the Guys included Toys "R" Us, Handi Snacks, Magic Nursery Babies, Levi's and Mars Candy if memory serves.

I feel so old, but I loved that show and their music. I know what I am listening to on cardio walks now as long as I don't dance along the road.😀
I remember this show along with the song! The song better than the show! Good Memories tho! California Dreams was another teen show around this Era that i watched :-)
Was _California Dreams_ similar to this, with the addition of two or three girls?
My favorite show. All of them was very funny and good looking.
Just like the girls on _Saved by the Bell_
Tiffani Amber Thiessen, Elizabeth Berkley and Lark Voorhies will ALWAYS be goddesses.
