“The public transportation vehicle that’s carrying *Waymo* passengers” 😂
You’re absolutely correct!! 🤣🤣🤣
Been driving public transit for almost 9 years I still make wrong turns. I’m human.
It happens. Where I’m at our agency a lot of times has one route continuing on as another. Sometimes the operator will forget which route they’re doing. Am I doing this one where I go this way or that one where I go that way? It happens.
I have coworkers that frequently accidentally start a totally different route than they're supposed to be doing. Sometimes they don't even catch it until they're halfway through the wrong route 😂
Don't worry drivers, passengers will let you know when you turn wrong 😂
Usually.
I took a wrong turn the first week i was on my own luckily the passenger told me haha
@@pokers112 some of them are good like that, they see your nervous and new and help
After almost two decades of driving when the passengers ask me if I go somewhere I enjoy asking them what route I'm driving.
It's a joke of course but it's based on the times when I did make wrong turns...which over the years there's been at least 4+ that I remember.
Most bigger transit companies have a lot of routes and many cross the same areas but take different turns it can be easy to make a left instead of a right...
.... and you know what they say, two wrongs don't make a right, but three lefts so.
@@pokers112 I had to get a rider to back me out of a Canada Post sorting facility I mistook for my right turn on my first day solo.
A Bus in the neighborhood is common!!! Service Change...new driver... it happens
And some routes just go through neighborhoods. It really convenient if you live in a neighborhood like that.
Keywan is soo right , make a wrong turn and the regular riders WILL let you know about it , LOUDLY .
Wrong turns turn out BADLY when you're driving a trolleybus! I never did it but a fellow operator did and OUCH!
at least modern trolleybuses can run off battery power
Back in the day, you'd need a push truck and it was a mess... I drove trolleys for years and I'll never understand how someone can turn off the wire! Taking the wrong wire is one thing, but to turn down a road with no overhead?! I don't get it! (I've seen it happen many times)
As a veteran bus driver of 38 years of service in California and later Washington state, I can definitely relate. I learned a long time ago to never say that I have seen it all because there’s always another rude awakening coming. Well done video.
True and thank you!!
Do another video of you reviewing the buses
Boy one morning rush I was on I-78 in NJ headed to I-95... and I got in the Holland Tunnel lanes by mistake... that was swell times. Heard about that one from dispatch I sure did
Waymo = Waymo problems! Aptly named! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I once made a wrong turn because I was following the directions, and it said to turn left on Krocks Rd. To my right was Krocks Rd and to my left was Krocks Court. I thought, "Either they screwed or the directions and it's Crocks Ct, not Krocks Rd, or they screwed up the directions and I was supposed to turn right. I turned left on Krocks Ct, then passed a "No Outlet" sign, then arrived at a cul de sac, which thankfully was wide enough for a bus to fit. After going back the way I came, I drove for one more block and approached A T-intersection where I could turn left on Krocks Dr. I thought, "Oh, there are _two_ Krocks Drives. I should've had more faith in them."
If there’s some bus enthusiasts onboard your bus when you made a wrong turn, then they could be your savior. This happened to a bus driver in my area, the bus enthusiasts, being quite familiar with the bus route they’re taking, provided guidance to the bus driver and managed brings the bus back on track. It was on local news that day and readers all appreciate the actions of these bus enthusiasts.
Right now I operate one route 3 days a week and two other routes one day each. The route I drive Fri-Sat-Sun and the route I drive on Mondays use the same street four four bus stops, then branch off differently. A couple weeks ago I forgot that I was driving the Monday route, and proceeded as if I was on my Fri-Sat-Sun route. Fortunately my passengers noticed not long after I missed the turn I was supposed to take. Very embarrassing but I got the controllers on the radio and fixed it, only lost a few minutes off the schedule . . . and some dignity.
ohhhh 2nd clip.... My King County Metro!!! Seattle, WA!!!
Atlantic Base over here! Lmao
I did pretty damn good. 3 years and one off route. Let's not forget that new operators have to driver "Spare Board". They have to know every route and every turn.
It's the senior operators that have all the cush work driving in straight lines all day.
Personally I love the spare board. I sign it 8 months of the year. I can't do the same circle day after day. I need to spice it up a bit. I like to come to the rescue with change offs, aid in accidents, and help out when busses fall behind on time.
I love helping others. It's who I am.
Speaking of food, I had a passenger dump an entire 2 liter bottle of soda in the back. It spilled down the steps to the back exit. College kids.
MMT Colorado Springs fired me for making a wrong turn. Not even a suspension, just outright fired me. If you ever get one of those routes you just can't keep on time because it's so compressed there isn't time at the EOL to even take a break? Yep, they did that to me too.
4:28 Waaaayyy more passengers! Muni 28 is always packed. That clip is at the Golden Gate Bridge where hoards of people get on and off. And the Waymo just had to stop at the one narrow spot in that whole line where the bus couldn't drive around...
Off route happens especially during probation it’s stressful when your a new driver. Schedule are tight I thought it was only here in Honolulu. And yes those smaller steering wheels are a blessing.
I also remember one time I was on Jamaica-bound F train on first car when I boarded at West 4 Sts and notice vomit on train. At 34 St, we informed train engineer and people on first car walk over to 2nd car while t/o or conductor kept first car closed.
I made plenty wrong turns. Sometimes i be daydreaming and next thing OH NO!! I MISSED MY TURN!! I just make the safest option possible to get back on route. And i drive articulated buses. When in doubt, contact supervision. Rather be sorry than hit anything.
Hi, Bus Driver Life, Thanks nice Video 🥰
Good god it sucks when that happens. Then there road closures and accident detours. Luckily we have road supervisors and communicators to help out. Even the passenger help out especially if they’re regulars.
Passenger will let you know only the ones looking for ride home will teach you lol 😂
Just my 2 cents.
I kinda like the smaller steering wheels too except for the part when your using the steering wheel as a clipboard to write something down and all of a sudden it starts turning on its own without any input.
Also that 2nd clip where the guy says "not supposed to be a city bus in a neighborhood"
Apparently he's never been on a Yolobus route 40, 41, 211, 212 or even RT route 134 or any of the SC runs.
Exactly! I used to drive for yolobus so I did the 40/41 and of course the 134 has a couple of impossible turns if cars are parked in the way in that neighborhood
@BusDriverLife
I to did my time at Yolo from 2011 - 2020 when I came to RT.
My brother is still at Yolo but he's retiring in June.
I gotta go in tonight at 7 and bid for the June schedule.
He hasn't been on Yolo 43 either. Better yet, he hasn't been on AC Transit 14 lol
@Intersteighty
I've done 43 through Davis with an MCI D-4500
It was .... interesting to say the least.
that pace driver at the gages got himself a preventable. and as far as the schedule goes, ya, we never have time. never ever have time.
Bus driver here, man do people have the nerves to do lots of things to us… I’ve had people in the back, literally yell from the back or walk down the bus isle to tell me I made a wrong turn even though I’m aware and know how to get back on the route. The passengers on my route, never really give me any problems except littering their bus passes all over. As for the driver who just took off while that passenger took a moment to be funny, I’m one of them but with slight kindness.. Pay the fare, sit and enjoy the ride or get out. Like you said, we run tight schedules and most of us drivers want to keep the “Exactly On Time” status every run or at least be a minute behind.
Real talk the self driving buses and cars are gonna fail.
Also, who are the passengers gonna ask if they're trying to find a certain stop, or other customer service?
We have a self driving bus at the Philadelphia navy yard and last week it went rouge and didn't follow the route or stop at stop signs.
@@warrencrosby2620 yep guess that self driving technology is not all they try to make it seem like it is just to save a couple of bucks.
Maybe one day, in some routes. 🤔
I know the supervisor and the driver in the second video! 😂 I'm a driver for King County Metro too! Good people
Nice!!

Here in Stockholm, Sweden we have cards that you blip on a reader. Here is the problem... you can also pay with your phone by using an app with a QR code that works with the card reader which A LOT of people do and the reader is SO BAD it almost never works. And because of this A LOT of buses are delayed because the schedule is SO DAMN TIGHT. It's so bad to the point where drivers just wave passengers by when the reader doesn't work.
I remember long time ago when my friend was living in Westbury, NY, it was Memorial Day, when nice bus n20 Northern Blvd bus via Great Neck used to run from Hicksville to Flushing, two of us help new driver until my friend got off and I helped her to Clock Tower, where she was familiar.
It not just new drivers. I have been on n25 bus between Great Neck & Lynbrook with regular driver going SB. One time when we were on eastbound Northern Blvd where he was suppose to use u-turn road to southwest Community Drive, but he missed turn because he made mistake bc he also drives n20. We had to cut across Macy's Parking lot to get back on Route.
Sometimes bus drivers during mta subway shuttle buses, or charter buses during lirr shuttle buses need help.
5:22 happened in Atlanta years ago 2015
Sometimes you are forced to deviate from the normal route.
King county metro yeah that’s the agency I use. like many agencies they’ve had staffing issues so they’ve had to hire a lot of new operators. And there’s a lot of changes to light rail which means there’s also changes to the bus routes. Our operators are awesome but mistakes happen.
Um, technically that was a CTA red line (El) 🤓☝️
Wait did I see a man in a dog mask on the bus that's those ppl living as dogs lol 😮
My dude, can you do a video on scheduling/ bidding for runs?
What is the screen for in the middle of the console? never seen that before
Do you get free transportation when in uniform? Or only when assigned to take over a route midway?
Have you ever had a wreck?
First off this ain’t my bus😂 I’m just driving it. Talking bout why my bus always dirty ! This isn’t mine
True! 😆
Not the first two belonging to King County Metro
I would NOT get on a self driving bus
May I have your attention, please! Your bus is headed in the wrong direction please refer to your timetable and report to your nearest time point immediately!
Waynemo is lamemo.
Agreed!!
@@BusDriverLife fun fact, self driving cars trucks and busses have yet to be able to solve the problem of people placing cones infront of them
until its solved. they are forever useless. plus I can tell you that with how bad construction messes up the lines, they will never be able to run.
How douse it feel doing bud driving?? ???
So what if this self driving bus fails? What are they gonna do then? That's why can't expect to just get rid of human bus drivers just like especially this self driving car ya might as well just keep human drivers behind the wheel because this little self driving technology that you're trying to create is gonna fail and cause some injuries and lives.
Are you like a bus for disabled people cuz you trying to give me a hint I live and I totally different state and I take access every single day and I know what you guys go for now and I kind of agree y'all do you need some way to get for whites in traffic
2:36. kids playing around with my tram, i usually make sure they are stuck inside for a stop or stuck outside to wait for the next tram, and bonus points if one of their mates is left behind XD XD
Our dispatch would of told us to do a battery shut down. Matter of fact that's their solution to everything.😂
Same out here!! 🤣
Same😂
@@BusDriverLife Once the battery is off you can't bother them anymore 😅🤣
I made wrong turns by mistake as well. Been almost a year for me in the bus driving industry.
3:38 I was training for the detroit department of transportation when the guy hopped on top of the bus. I was literally in the middle of classroom training as that was happening
SO I got some pics of a project I did over the winter here in Canada. I would love to send them to you soon. I'm pretty sure you got email in your contact info no? Finally you got the hats I was bugging you for. Count me in for one.
Can we one day see your drive the bus, like a POV type thing?
Remember Proverbs 15:1 -- “A soft word turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Ian Maclaren is attributed, along with, Philo, Plato, and Socrates, with the saying “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” Thanks for sharing.
Hello it's donald in milwaukee 🤗
I appreciated y'all bus drivers out there, without y'all, there would be no public transportation. I would love to ask any bus operator in my city of Chicago, do they liked driving the 2014-2016, 2022-2023 Novas or New Flyers more.
the bus seats look like the bus seats the MTA has on their 2023-24 XD40 🤔
Can you do PART 2 with Pittsburgh ones?
It’s strange to see how a self-driving taxi dropped off a passenger on the roadway and remained standing there! Is this normal for the USA? I think in our country this company would immediately be deprived of its license.
UA-cam invited me to watch your channel today. I have already watched several videos, but have not found any videos comparing buses from Russia. maybe you can show your subscribers modern Russian buses? UA-cam has reviews of modern Russian buses from English-speaking bloggers traveling around Russia.
My first day solo I got profoundly lost. Needed a rider to back me out of a Canada Post sorting facility I mistook for my right turn, then ripped my curbside mirror off on a bus shelter. While my bus was secured and I was filling out paperwork with my supervisor a Uhaul truck smashed my laneside mirror.
My first day was a disaster.
14months in now, I love my job.
I get a "thank you" from almost 70% of my riders when they alight.
I can count on less than one hand the number of negative rider interactions I've had.
Most of my negative interactions are things that make me sad, not angry. (badly beaten lady wouldn't let me call her a medic because she didn't want her wife to get in trouble)
I've only had to ask 3 people to leave my bus, and they've all left upon my first request. (Two were discourteous to me when leaving, but I do not care, I have all my teeth)
Shoot I take wrong turns 2 or 3 times a week. I usually tell the people don’t worry we will get back and we do. This usually happens when I driving a new route or in area when I am unfamiliar with. In fact here in Austin Texas I think the pax’s on Board are use to it.
Haven’t been off route in quite a while now, but it happens even from just daydreaming
I understand many of the passangers rude and some even dangerous, but seriously some bus drivers are rude too for example today I was press the stop button and the bus driver drowe off my bus stop so I have to walk long distance to home or some bus drivers see people run towards bus stop, they reach the bus door, bus driver look at them, smile at them and drive away like they cannot open door for 1 second so someone can go inside- that is rude of them.
I think we've all taken wrong turns in our career, especially if you are on a route that varies on different days.
As an operator instructor, I agree that those seats, are TRASH.
A bus in the neighborhood is normal for us, pace is around a lot and school buses
Can you drive a manual transmission bus?
Why did he went to a neighborhood 😂
5:27 I hope no one was on that bus

I really like buses. I hope many of my friends here like buses
