The New Ferdinand Berthoud Of 2024 Is Now Customisable?

In 2020, Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud introduced its second collection, the Chronomètre FB 2RE. This timepiece signaled a significant milestone for the Maison, featuring the first round case, a display with three central hands, and notably, the debut of a movement with a double regulation system-a fusion of fusee-and-chain transmission with a one-second “remontoir d’égalité”.
This year, the maison introduced an intriguing customization option for thirty-eight watches, as only thirty-eight movements will be produced in total, offering a wide range of choices. Customers can customize the shape (round or octagonal) and material (stainless steel, titanium, ceramised titanium, and 18-carat white, yellow, or rose gold) of the case, along with the color of the inner bezel ring, the dial, and associated finishes (sandblasted or satin-brushed). In total, more than 200 variations can be simulated using an online configurator specifically created for this model. This allows collectors to create unprecedented variations for their personal Ferdinand Berthoud timepiece.
At the heart of this timepiece lies the Calibre FB-RES.FC, regulated by fusee-and-chain transmission and a one-second remontoire. This sophisticated chronometric complication serves to stabilize the energy flow from the barrel to the escapement. It operates through a spring positioned between these components, temporarily storing and releasing a small amount of energy to the balance. The frequency of this energy transfer is very brief, occurring every one second, driving the large central seconds hand in precise one-second intervals. This mechanism, known as a true-beat or deadbeat second, is generated directly by the remontoire. These intricate mechanical workings are elegantly showcased through the transparent caseback of the FB RES.

@@kevinnowak5067 a basic chronometre bleu is trading around $90k and a bedazzled daytona rainbow is trading around $500k. There is indeed a market for these kind of expensive watches, they just haven't caught on
