Very mature advice in this video.
Always check with student immigration advisor through student email instead of showing up at office and discuss verbally. This helps you to keep record of the advice you got and saves you some headache if things go south..

The original understanding was that (1) you need to be in Canada with your study permit on 7th Oct 2022; or (2) had applied by 7th Oct 2022 and waiting for final approval. Then you can work fulltime while studying from 15th Nov 2022 to 31st Dec 2023. If you apply for study permit after 7th Oct 2022, the old rule of working 20 hrs a week while studying remains.

Hey @PiyushCanada, we also need a full time status for all our semesters except for the final semester which you may or may not need to hold a full time status ( you can also hold a part time status for your final semester ) and it should be fine. Before dropping any course at a regular semester, people should make sure that they don’t change their full time student status to a part time student status for taking lesser than required courses for a full time status. Thought this might help

    Hi everyone,
I’m an international student in Canada and here is my question . I was not scheduled to work on Monday, but since it was a public holiday(Labour day ), I received statutory holiday pay for 7.30 hours, but I’m concerned about whether this affects my work hour limits.
    Here’s a breakdown:
Actual Work Hours: 17 hours (Tuesday and Wednesday)
Statutory Holiday Pay: 7.30 hours (for Monday)
Given that international students can work up to 20 hours per week during regular academic sessions, does the statutory holiday pay count towards my work hour limit?

I completed my 12th grade and scored 72% in 2022. Currently, I am pursuing my BTech in Cyber Security and Forensics, and I have completed 1.5 years of the program. However, I am facing family problems that are affecting my ability to study. I have also achieved a SAT score of 930 and an IELTS band score of 8. Now I'm wondering if I should somehow complete the remaining years of my current program or consider applying for bachelor's programs in Canada or the USA. The main challenge is that I only have 20 lakhs, so I'm uncertain if I will be able to afford the tuition through part-time work. Unfortunately, my inability to study is causing me to experience depression.

Now I received a full-time job offer with a joining date of 23rd May. I want to cancel my study permit extension and apply for PGWP. Is it possible to do that and be able to get the permit/implied approval letter to start the job by that time?

Pyush, you have covered all the points very well.I have question. I have co-op programm and the validity if the work permit on the co -op program is till 9th of september.
My course is ending up on 1st september. So, its a work permit can I still work while I apply for the PGW

    • @smwk2017
      @smwk2017 Рік тому

You need to stop working immediately when you received notification (such as transcript, diploma, letter or email) saying program has completed regardless of the end date in your study permit. Once you applied for PGWP, then you may work fulltime while waiting for approval, provided that you meet certain conditions.
You can work full-time while waiting for a decision on your post-graduation work permit (PGWP) application if, at the time you submitted your application, all of the following applied to your situation:
You had a valid study permit.
You had completed your program of study.
You were eligible to work off campus without a permit.
You did not work off campus more than 20 hours a week during academic sessions.

One of the biggest doubts among students is that agar humein confirmation of graduation letter mil gya to we know hum kaam nahi kr skte until we apply for PGWP. But kya hum notice period serve kr skte hai like 14 days because ekdum to employers job chodne nahi dete..pls make it clear bhai..
Thankyou for this intellectual video ❤️

Hi Piyush, I came to Canada in this May and by course would end by December since it's a 1 year course with jan to may as vacation. And by may next year 1 plan on coming for another course.
So if my graduation is done by December then will it still be wrong to work during the 4 month vacation period?

Hi Piyush, Thanks for providing such a valuable information. I have a doubt in my case which is not clarified in the video. I have completed my studies in December, 2023 and completion certificate is generated. This means that I cannot work now. Now, I have my LOA of May, 2024 and hence I will apply for study permit extension. I want to clarify if I can start working full time after the day I will apply for my study permit extension.
Request you to please clear this doubt. This would be really helpful.

If you finish your studies early, your study permit will stop being valid 90 days after you complete your studies, no matter what day is printed on the study permit.
Your studies are officially completed on the date your school first notifies you by any of the following:
      - completion letter
      - transcript
      - degree or diploma
You must provide proof of the date your school notifies you or the date you get your degree, diploma or certificate. If you don’t have proof, we’ll use the earliest issue date on the document. We may confirm this date with your school.
