    Thanks for this real user review video. Now looking this bike. A long time crosser looking to get off canti's bikes for general riding due to local steep hills/long mountain roads braking and traffic. Saving the canti 2x10 and singlespped bikes for the race course. Was looking at the few 2x gravel bikes for the gearing options with out rear always on suspension. This bike is on top of the list to get now for gravel/trail, road, and CX riding now. Again thanks for the review.

    That's why I'm loving my TCX Advanced SX as my all around bike...

    I recently picked up the 2015 version of this bike. This review is just what I needed. So far I have to agree with everything said, including the gearing when it comes to very hilly terrain. I use this thing for road, gravel and hopefully eventually dip my toes in cyclocross. I just swap out between 3 sets of rims, cassette and tires that awesomely came with my used purchase. I'll also grab my 3x mtb for those really hilly rides. Making this thing 2x, I think as it was originally made, could be an option as well but I've been happy with it so far. About to find out if my calculations/measurements were right and seeing if 45mm Maxxis Ramblers fit the frame. Funny that you had the same tires (but 40mm) in your other video.

    What's your height and what frame size was that? I'm interested in buying the exact one in my area and it's M frame.

    great review! I am looking at getting the 2016 or 2017 TCX Advance Pro 1 on sale so this helps me a lot. Too bad Giant is dropping Di2 on 2018 models - I just noticed they are up on the website now.

      Wow. Thanks for the heads-up. Niner did the same thing. I'll check them out now! They must have JUST put them up.

    Roadlink would work.. having tcx as a gravel/allround bike. It was converted to hydraulic when i bought it.. possible converting it to a 2 front ring bike when on holliday in the italian mountains.
    I love the bike.. have had it for a year now and have never dropped chain.. it is a shimano crank with a narrowwide chainring.

    How do you think the TCX would do as a road bike? Not for racing but for 60-80 mile rides. Maybe with 28C tires if they fit. I'm thinking that with a simple tire swap maybe it could handle both paved and dirt road duty in hilly non-mountain areas. For pure paved road duty I'd look to a Defy as the comparison point.

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  7 років тому +2

      It would make a great road bike with 25 or 28c tires. Light and fast. Slightly shorter top tube than a pure road bike but I like that.

    • @user-pg9cy1sd1p
      @user-pg9cy1sd1p 7 років тому

      I like that too. I also like the idea of the 1x11 drivetrain, although I know a double chainring is more typical of pure road bikes.

      I have a new bike on order so that tcx will be going up for sale in a couple days. If for some reason you may be interested let me know.

    For maximizing lithium-ion battery longevity it's best to keep the charge as high as possible.

    Thanks for the review of the Giant TCX. Whats your thoughts on the Giant roam 0 for a mainly city commuter bike ?

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  7 років тому +1

      +Optimum Health & Fitness that style of bike makes a great Commuter for shorter distances. For longer distances, over about 10 miles, I would have drop bars. You also need to think about whether you want a suspension Fork. I had a style like that but did not have a suspension fork and it was perfect.

    Hi Clint. I was watching an old CX video you posted of actual race footage and it made me wonder how well your Niner XC MTB would handle a cyclocross race course. Which bike would be faster? Have you ever compared the two? Enjoying the channel. Thanks.

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  7 років тому +1

      +Aaron Schroder there are some cours where the mountain bike is slightly faster. But I think overall the cross bike will be faster. Also it's really not Kosher for the higher levels of racing to be done on mountain bikes. Kind of the spirit of the sport.

    There's no Di2 on the 2018 model though. I just got one of the last mediums in the 2017 so I could get Di2. But it's wayyyy better on a MTB

    I have a Giant TCX with Di2 and Ultegra. I like the bike but I don't like the proprietary seatpost and headset stem set up. Otherwise a great bike.

  • @HamidRHariri

    Setting aside your issues with the DI2, how did the NIner BSB compare to Giant TCX? Would you favor Giant's geometry to that Niner?

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  7 років тому

      The Nine BSB9 is a great CX bike that I wouldn't hesitate owning again. It's light and stiff. It's not quite as comfortable as the Giant on long dirt road rides, but the difference isn't that noticeable. You can tune the ride with tires.

    Thoughts on the Giant Anyroad for a first time CX bike?

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  7 років тому

      It would work fine if you got a set of CX tires. Not sure if you could convert the rims to tubeless. You SHOULD be able to with rim tape a valve stems, but that's the unknown.

      Clint Gibbs He need Anyroad Comax, but it come with mechanical brakes and frame that not fit the shoulder. NOT recomnend fir cyclocross. Gravel riding only.

    Hy, can you make a full review about Merida Silex 400 or 700 vs Giant Anyroad 1 or Comax ? I looked on UA-cam and there is no such review. I think that if you make a review between this 2 bikes it will help a lot of persons. Thank you for your time.
