    Thanks for this, I am planning to make a super cheap light rod for small fish and tiny streams, using some black bamboo I grow. This is helpful.

      That would be a good use for these guides for sure 👍 Good luck with your project!

    Great, thanks for sharing.
    If you may share your ideas how you make the rest of the rings. Thanks.

      Just use larger sized rods to wrap the wire around for making larger guides.

      Haha, hopefully I can do what I want with it. It will be like a fly rod inspired by Tenkara fishing...and I probably won't be throwing flies with it LOL...I know that makes no sense at all but I think it will be a great way to fish for me and some others may like it too...stay tuned 😀

    This is awesome I didn't have the correct materials but I made a paper clip work

      Hello, how did it hold up? I also lack the correct materials. I was also thinking of making that rig from wood

    • @TheFishingHobby
      @TheFishingHobby  4 роки тому +1

      Paperclips work, but they may eventually rust. Most paperclips are made of galvanized steel wire. If the galvanized plating is compromised, it will rust.

      @@marcoshernandez1427 hello it worked pretty well for the time I needed it... I just taped it on and it worked just fine but I only used it a little because I got a new rod

    I got through a lot of rod tip guides...I'm a bit curious on IF I could make something along the lines for heavy duty class rod...I'm thinking n thinking

    • @TheFishingHobby
      @TheFishingHobby  2 роки тому

      You could, but I'm not sure how they would hold up for heavy use. These were for an ultralight rod. I would think that these would hold up fine for heavy use but I can't speak from actual experience with a heavier rod built for catfishing.

    Life of mono and braid running through stainless, any ideas.

    • @TheFishingHobby
      @TheFishingHobby  2 роки тому

      As long as there aren't any nicks in the wire, it shouldn't wear on mono or braid.

    That’s pretty neat idea. You wouldn’t happen to have a link or anything to that jig by any chance? I’d like to give this a try for ice rods.

      I ordered mine from Amazon but you can find the wire mentioned in the video at a lot of tackle shops near saltwater fishing areas.

    what did you do to your arm

    • @TheFishingHobby

      Do you mean the knot on my finger? I almost lost the tip of my finger due to a dog bite. I was trying to trap and relocate a semi-wild dog and it almost bit the tip of my finger off. The dog wasn't hurt, just scared and it was defending itself. When my bone healed the knot developed. It looks pretty bad, I think at some point I will see if anything can be done about it.

    That’s sweet! One thing I would keep in mind is burs/ Knick’s on wire as this could chafe the fishing line.

      LOL! I didn't show how many times I messed up some wire before I figured out how to do one that looked decent!

  • @barretharms655
    @barretharms655 2 роки тому

    I will admit you must take it off of The Jig in order to set the wires next to each other however the end result if you are limited mind is that you have failed you have failed to appropriately use the Jake and you have failed to appropriately understand how to Bend wire. I do suggest that people watch what you do to ensure that they do not make the same mistakes and then they should move on.

      Yes, someone could easily lose their life and quite possibly cause the end of civilization as we know it if they do what is done in this video. Please watch as a warning...take heed and be VERY AFRAID!!!!
