What a great guy... i am seriously impressed and pleased by his very nice personality... i observed the same demeanor in Russell Ferrante... humble and wonderful musicians .... sharing their insights
Cool 😎 !!! Cool intro too… is it the Flute… damn can’t think of it !!! Hey anyway… I mean no disrespect… but since you’re the Van Halen of Harmonica why not do a EVH song like maybe Ain’t Talkin Bout Love !!! That dang 4 overblown gets me almost every time 😊
I admire the guy for mastering chromatic play on a diatonic - that can't be easy, but the question is, why? A chromatic harmonica has much better sound larger larger range.
@Marco Evans I respectfully disagree. The diatonic is much harder to get around on, and compare the sound of the Howard's diatonic to the Toot's chrom. The diatonic has a timbre reminiscent of a saw.
Howard himself has said that he prefers diatonic for expression and bending capabilities. In fact, he doesn't like chromatic harmonica. Most Diatonics harps have 3 octaves of range, like 12 holes chromatics, there are 13 holes diatonic with 4 octaves, like 16 chromatic harps.
Fabulous to learn or just to listen to. Great harmonica work.
Amazing, Maestro - the world looks better with such music ....

Great, as always, Howard! But how does one decide which harp to use? The one that sounds best? Easiest to play in terms of bends, etc.?

why? because you can and it is a fun challenge. Expands your diatonic ability, too.
@@TheEDub56 I think you agree, Ed, or am I missing something? You seem to prefer the chromatic on this tune. Am I wrong?
Less expression and bending
