Really hope the city approves the Howard Terminal Site. The A’s are offering to privately fund it and develop the surrounding area. We’ll see if any gentrification happens but they way the A’s sound they look committed to being part of Oakland
The owners are demanding the city sell them the real estate where the current stadium is located for a song. After development by the owners it will be worth billions. That takes gall!
Seriously..... every time I think we have things set and the future looks bright, stadium progress is being made and then the city council likes to trip its self and fall on its face. It’s the a painful life as an A’s fan.
A relocation target that I don't feel is talked about enough is Sacramento. Sacramento is a deceptively large metropolitan area, it has little competition from other professional sports, has great weather, and is nearby enough to Oakland that they may be able to attract Bay Area fans.
When I first started watching baseball as a kid in 1997 the first team I liked were the Montreal Expos, then in 2004 the Expos left and became the nationals in Washington, I watched the team play for several more years but never could get behind them so I decided to just change my team. I eventually went with Oakland, my passion for watching baseball returned and it felt great to watch them play. But dude, when I saw the post the other day, I felt an absolute crushing wave of dread flood through me...I hope they don't move, my fan heart can't deal with losing another baseball team.
The city is crazy if they DO approve this stadium. This is just a bluff on the owner's part. He doesn't have any offers from another city to build him a new stadium, and it's very unlikely he'll receive any such offers.

Oakland’s just been tell every sports team to leave. Warriors, raiders, now the A’s? I guess they just want Californians to cheer for the dodgers and Angels.
Sacramento is one-way two-hour drive from Oakland, and worst-case scenario is for the A's ownership is to offer a roundtrip shuttle service for Oakland-based season ticket holders and fans.
They will probably leave. The city is a dump and is getting worse. The local government there isn't doing anything to fix it. Can't blame them. As a raiders fan, I was glad they left Oakland, the city treats their teams like trash
I don't know much about Oakland, but it took the Giants FOREVER to get their new stadium. Candlestick was a huge, windy, cold relic where nobody liked to play, including the Giants. It was pretty miserable for night games. They started trying in the 80s and I think the new park opened in 1998. The taxes are really high in the bay area so nobody wants to pay for a stadium. They ended up privately funding a lot of it. Anyway, I hope the A's can figure it out. They are a great organization with die hard fans. I couldn't imagine them moving...
I have a gut feeling that the mayor of Oakland is more cheap than the A’s owner and doesn’t like sports. If the A’s move and handle it like they have I think the fans/citizens will go with them.
The mayor is cheap? You think the money is coming out of her pockets? It's the taxpayers who would pay for it, and they would vote her out if she were to cave in to the owners' demands.

Different situation, MLB caused this by overexpanding just to collect fees from new franchises. MLB needs to contract at least 4 teams by dissolution or merger. Miami, Tampa Bay, Phoenix, Pittsburgh can't support MLB even with a state of the art stadium.
@@alcarbo8613 I see. You want teams full of players who don't belong in the majors? Already at least a quarter of them don't belong, and you want to heighten that number?
@@alcarbo8613 They already do, they have minor league teams. Your answer is to turn major league teams into minor league teams. Already there are far too many AAA and AA players in the majors. Expansion would leave half the major league roster as AAA and AA level players. The majors is supposed to be for the best players, not just anyone. You also don't realize how much this would increase salaries. There already is insane competition for the good players, $300 mil contracts are becoming the norm for stars, and most mediocre players earn at least 10 mil per. Expansion would create even more demand, and the free agent salaries would skyrocket.
Turner Field lasted what, 20 years? The problem is some of the older parks are not maintained like they should be. Their history is not recognized like it should.

For the past 20 years the a’s have been trying to build a new stadium here in the bay. But every city declines because if u put a stadium there then taxes in that area will rise and so will crime. Unfortunately since the oracle arena was built they couldn’t just demolish and build on top
The public is in no mood to build billion dollar statements for billionaire baseball owners. I don't think there are more than 2 or 3 cities that might be able push through such a project and it's not guaranteed in any of them.
I actually think they'll stay. The SF/Oakland Bay Area is huge and more than capable of supporting two teams. Nobody went to Giants games at Candlestick, but when ATT was built fans showed up. Same will happen when Howard Terminal gets built in Oakland. It would also help if the ownership made a commitment to keeping players, but I believe that will come with the new ballpark.

Plus, those tourists who come to Vegas for a holiday probably aren't going to attend a baseball game, it's not why they came.

The Athletics should not rebrand. Im not an Athletics fan but i love their brand coz of their iconic green, gold, & white colorway.
Vancouver A's, or Las Vegas A's? Then they can stay in the AL west. A new Stadium in Oakland would be best though!

Can't jump to conclusions. They very well could stay!
The A’s would fit in Las Vegas.
Oh course Pittsburgh would love to finally have a Major League Baseball team. 🙃😝
I thought they already had a team, until I finally got it 😂😂😂
They already have there AAA minor league team there they can’t move to Vegas because they’d have to get a new stadium for the Aviators
Keep the A’s in Oakland!!
If they get a new stadium it should be a dome. This way they can avoid rain delays or rainouts.
Nah you want a retractable roof like T-mobile or Globe Life.
As a Mets fan living in Vegas this is the most logical choice. Vegas is the home to the A's triple A farm club.
I did not know that. When I was a kid the Mets were always the triple a club. Used to go to the Las Vegas 51’s games
Those politicians are gonna make Oakland a city without a sport franchise.
It's exactly what they want

This was already known 2 years ago since I live 1 city away from the stadium. Its a pile of shit and the area surronding it is a detriot prison without walls. Its sucks its moving from me but makes sense
The A's owner just puts up a facade that they are a small market like the Moneyball movie. the fact is, they are one of the biggest markets in the league.

That’d be cool.
That would not be cool dude y’all don’t understand how much Oakland sports fans care about our teams I wish the raiders and warriors never left. The a’s are our only hope.

I’m an A’s fan moving from California to Tennessee. If they move, I hope they go to Nashville.
SAME. They already have the Tennessee Titans so it would be even better if they had a mlb team as well.
The A’s have some great colors and despite their low budget, they are always playoff contenders who always seem to play above their ability on paper. As a Braves fan, the A’s are my team to watch in the AL. I would hate if Oakland lost them since they have already lost the Warriors and Raiders.
1. Their stadium sucks
2. If they have a sellout, it may as well be a Christmas miracle
ALSO THANK YOU OUR OWNER IS A CHEAP OWNER!!! Thank you for acknowledging this!
Like any other businessman, he's in it to make as much money as he can. If he can scam Oakland into handing him real estate that he can develop into huge profits for himself, then he did what he's supposed to do in life. The mayor's job is to say "No, we don't give away valuable land for a song."
Don’t forget the josh Donaldson and Cespedes trade. That trade broke my heart😭
Or refusing to re-sign Semien and letting him go for nothing.
@@paulmillercanada And the countless other deals the A’s let walk including Tejada
The A's are moving to Sacramento 😂👍
When I first started watching baseball as a kid in 1997 the first team I liked were the Montreal Expos, then in 2004 the Expos left and became the nationals in Washington, I watched the team play for several more years but never could get behind them so I decided to just change my team. I eventually went with Oakland, my passion for watching baseball returned and it felt great to watch them play. But dude, when I saw the post the other day, I felt an absolute crushing wave of dread flood through me...I hope they don't move, my fan heart can't deal with losing another baseball team.
Watch them go to Vegas! 😆
But seriously, I hope they stay in Oakland.
The city is crazy if they don’t approve this stadium. The plan is great and could really benefit the city of Oakland
The city is crazy if they DO approve this stadium. This is just a bluff on the owner's part. He doesn't have any offers from another city to build him a new stadium, and it's very unlikely he'll receive any such offers.
I really feel bad for all you A’s fans. As a Mets fan I would hate to see the Mets move! I hope the A’s stay because I really don’t wanna see a whole fan base sad.
The A's are in the 6th largest media market. Portland's 22nd, and Las Vegas is 39th. Mayor Schaff & other City Officials must get moving!

The public doesn't want to pay for baseball stadiums any more. It's the same in Charlotte, Tampa Bay, many other places.
The mayor is cheap? You think the money is coming out of her pockets? It's the taxpayers who would pay for it, and they would vote her out if she were to cave in to the owners' demands.
@@GeraldM_inNC well I don’t live in Oakland and for a matter of fact I live in Canada and I don’t know American economy/government in depth so idk if that’s what is going on then that’s sad

I was at the A’s Giants game yesterday at The Giants’ Oracle Park. It depresses me how bad the Coliseum is….even though I grew up going there all these years as a raisers season ticket holder and an a’s fan. My wish is they just tear it all down and rebuild there as there is plenty of space and you’re right there at BART, as well as the ability to build more hotels convenient for visiting fans as well as travelers staying by the Oakland airport. OAkland needs to step it up
I don't think Americans realize how strange it is to everyone else around the world that their sports teams move cities to wherever is going to be the most profitable for them. Hopefully the A's can find a way to stay in Oakland.
Different situation, MLB caused this by overexpanding just to collect fees from new franchises. MLB needs to contract at least 4 teams by dissolution or merger. Miami, Tampa Bay, Phoenix, Pittsburgh can't support MLB even with a state of the art stadium.
@@GeraldM_inNC Are you crazy the MLB needs more teams not less
@@alcarbo8613 I see. You want teams full of players who don't belong in the majors? Already at least a quarter of them don't belong, and you want to heighten that number?
@@GeraldM_inNC I want every major city in America to have to ability to have a Baseball team to root for and enjoy, you seem to want to take that away
I really hate how in the US, 50 years is considered "old" for stadiums. Meanwhile in other countries it's common for stadiums to be around 100 years.
It's only getting worse too. The Georgia Dome was replaced after just 25 years.

The City, pays for professional sports teams stadiums, it’s NEVER the team or leagues that spend the money, that’s the real sad part.
I think an issue with the stadium is that it is that the overall condition is terrible, especially the sewage in the stadium. I feel for the team, and I get the fact the city is hesitant to spend money.

If the owner is cheap I highly doubt he’d move to Canada with their tax rates, unless the city pays for the entire stadium.
No Canadian city is going to pay for a new billion dollar stadium.
I've always wished Baton Rouge had a baseball team, but I know that's a pipe dream and a half.
I know a lot of people dislike the coliseum and think its ugly but i honestly love it
I actually think they'll stay.
