    My sister said many people outside of Washington know about UW for rowing, CS, and connections to the tech industry! Looking forward to the next video!!

      Oh yeah for sure, I know professors that teach at the Seattle campus and they have some of the most well-known bio/med programs in the country. I regularly hire MDs and Bench scientists who have UW educations both undergrad and graduate. UW is actually internationally known mainly for CS/Engineering and Bio/Med usually with a pharmaceutical focus for bio and either for Med/pre-med.

    Went to UW for 2 years before transferring out and graduating somewhere else. I was happy with my experience and what I learned there (I went there about 15 years ago), however, in hindsight, I would have just started at a community college and then transferred in once I was assured that I got the major that I wanted. I would much rather do CS at a lesser-known (and probably cheaper) school than have to accept a major that I didn't really want to do at UW. In terms of career, you will be far, far better off doing the major you want rather than have to settle for a major that you're not really passionate about. So starting as a pre-engineer at UW is far too stressful to be worth it. Only go there if you got the major you want.
    I'll also add that for undergrad engineering, the school is not as important as some might think. If you want to go to industry, great companies aren't even requiring college degrees in CS anymore. If you want to do research, then get good grades, do research and try to get something published.

    Yeah don't go here because you can't get into the major and they know this, they just admit you for tuition money

    Seattle was one of the safest cities in the states especially U-district back in the 2010's. Everyone used to walk around everywhere at night and have fun. No one really got hurt seems like now everything is changing

      @@kristjonpedersen9342 Yup and what's worse is how Seattle natives and Americans in general either pretend the problem isn't "that bad" (like bro, what even is their standard, Gotham City?) or excuse it, saying it's normal for every big city when that's complete nonsense. Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, Abu-Dhabi, Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka, Hong Kong, Singapore, I can go on and on, are these not big cities? Shameless mindset.

    This stuff is all true, but like they say, it's just a few of the downsides of an otherwise great school. Great insight for people trying to make a well-informed decision. Way to keep it neutral :)

    • @purpleguac
      @purpleguac  4 роки тому +7

      the weather difference between seattle and cali will be huge. especially if you’re from southern california. most of the time its wet and cold. winter time is sometimes unbearably cold. but if you like dressing in layers, it’s honestly not too horrible. in terms of safety, there is a lot of crime in the surrounding areas of uw. at night time, id definitely suggest walking around with a friend.

      We feel its important to inform incoming students about the realities of UW. We only talk about real problems many students often face and are not shy to voice their opinions about. We also preface the video by saying that we love UW and that views should check out our video on why UW is the best.
